Getto

I ended up going to Getto twice during my visit to Amsterdam.
Whilst it was ever so slightly rougher around the edges than some of bars I have been to whilst in Amsterdam, it certainly had a great vibe and the cocktails were just brilliant. The staff behind the bar were really friendly and our group felt relaxed during our visit, and I felt very welcome on my second visit.
It was a little quiet as it’s so close to Christmas, but I reckon this would be a great place to start a night out. I really enjoyed it and will definitely be back on my next visit to Amsterdam.

Found this in a travel article in Guardian which highly recommended it as a unique experience. Atmosphere is great! Definitely outside of my norm.
The food was OK, what I would expect for the red light district. Service was great. People were fantastic.
We did not see a performance, which I’m sure would be awesome.

Recommended by TODD of Mac bikes and Im glad he did. Swanky– fun– trendy– gay– bright– loud are words that come to mind. This could easily be a bar in the village, here in NYC. After biking around Amsterdam, I was very ready for cocktails and people watching. Great atmosphere, I sat by the door. I had the clit tickler and it was DELISH. stuck with it throughout happy hour. My server TOM was cool– friendly. Decided on a chicken sandwich with a fun diva name, which was yummy. You come here to drink and people watch, not so much eating. Music was loud and fun. Stumbled out with a smile as big as the cheshire cat. Will be back! Great gem indeed!

Great tasty food (for the price and for what it is), Great service (considering that it was only one person helping all customers), great décor and atmosphere. The drinks were well made too.

«Meh.» The hype around this place seems slightly misplaced. I got the Jennifer Hopelezz burger — bacon, cheddar, and guacamole — with a side of homo fries. The fries were pretty tasty, but exceptionally salty, while the burger was a little bland. The serving of guacamole was way too small and pretty runny. The constitution of the paddy was a little suspect, with large chunks messing up my vibe.
The atmosphere is really nice and the service is great. I love the idea of the place and it was a great place to hang out. Having said that, 15 euros for a small burger meal is not worth another visit. My two eating-​mates were also not over the moon with their food, unfortunately.

This is just a regular burger restaurant with some eccentric burger creations. The burgers are tasty and the service is very helpful, but the prices are a bit extreme (15 EUR for a burger with fries). We also had to wait over 40 minutes for our burger. The location is right in the center. of the red light district, so close to all the party and tourist craziness.

The food was just ok, which is fine except we found the service to be extremely unwelcoming. It was an effort for them. It’s like we didn’t exist. They brought our meals out and we had to ask for cutlery!

This was diffidently my favorite mixed gay bar that we visited while in the city.
It’s got a great, buzzing central location. The bar seemed to attract a very mixed crowd of people all just out for a good time without going nuts.
There is a great selection of well priced drinks behind the bar and it served PINTS.
Resident DJ was playing good music reflecting the crowed early Sat evening.
Sadly we weren’t hungry and we couldn’t stay for too long, but the food did look great.
The staff were super friendly. The bar is fun and funky and I would highly recommend it.

I was told I’d find super juicy burgers and drag queens here… but… neither came true :(The food was average, nothing to write home about. The décor is fun, but I wanted some crazy drag queens running around or serving me for an extra kick, and since I didn’t get it, it was just another ordinary dinner with some good friends! The quest for an amazing burger continues…

Great burgers, but I would love to try the rest of the menu. Some healthy options like salmon, veggie burgers, and salads, as well.
The service was great! Very friendly staff. One guy allowed us to sit at a small table for a few minutes and then he moved us to a more roomy spot that accommodated the four of us much better.
Oh, and there’s a bar cat! Very cute, but by the end of the night, she was not having our attempts at petting.
Cocktail selection was plentiful and creative. They could definitely use some better wine choices.
Perhaps the best part was watching all the intoxicated people stare in amazement at discovery channel on the big screen!
Overall, great place for a meal.

Very nice bar! A lot of excellent cocktails and fantastic burgers! Very very good! Recommended place to go, have some drinks and eating.

WE LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
We’ve been visiting Amsterdam for 13 years and sadly only discovered Getto about 8 years ago.
But since then we have more than made up for not finding it earlier.
We spend every night of our holiday in here (Unless its a Monday) the food is amazing, the cocktails are mind-​blowing and the service is fantastic.
All of the staff are so welcoming and can’t do enough for you, I have never experienced such good service
The bar is so clean and welcoming and the toilets are the cleanest I have ever seen.
I just love this place and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Love this place. Friendly, sometimes hipster but always good food… simple. like a good burger. and of course nice fries.
Right in the red light district (border line)… gay run and definitely gay friendly … like anyone cares anyway in Amsterdam :)
If you book it can be good for groups also… it is packed all the time.
Of course it is good for drinks also!

I ended up at Getto as part of my first international Unilocal event. The place had a great vibe, plenty of drinks, and a fun atmosphere with bright colors and plenty of disco glitter balls. The burgers, however, were in some need of attention, as they were on the dry side. But I am not sure if the large group contributed to that. Definitely a good stop for a drink to either start off or end a night in Amsterdam.

Come on… the thought has all crossed our minds at some point!
Luckily for us Amsterdamers, among the beer soaked sex-​shop ridden bustling street of Warmoestraat, you can have your cake and eat it like the diva/​divo you are! Once you make your way through drunk/​high tourists while avoiding bikers aggressively ringing their bells on Warmoestraat, you’ll find yourself in front of what seems to be a gay club?! I’m talking rainbow lights, golden disco balls and possibly a drag queen or two?!
But wait… this is no ordinary place.
If you make your way through as you shake your hips to some Madonna song playing in the background, you’ll see it’s actually a restaurant with a fabulous array of burgers and of course sparkling cocktails named after famous drag queens in the area.

I had the Bacon/​mushroom/​gorgonzola cheese burger and it was off the hook! If you like a big slab o’ meat in between perfectly portioned buns, you will like the burgers here! Oh and to top it off (no pun intended), your hung hamburger is topped with a little pizazz very fitting of the place! OOOH, and something I REALLY appreciate with the burgers is that they put my gorgon sauce on the side so I get to control how much of that creamy ooze I got to shower my burger with. Equally important, the fries were surprisingly good! Like freshly sliced potatoes fried for my starch-​saturated-​fat hungry belly!

The cocktails were great and a little on the heavy side, so watch out if you are trying to stay sober! (Btw, I had to look up ‘sober’ in Wikipedia as I have no knowledge over this topic…) Oh and for 5.50 a cocktail, you can get all kinds of Absolutely Fabulous for not so much! Other interesting things on the menu included Black bean banana soup, deer potpie and of course a HUGE portion of sweets (I’m talking crème brûlée the size of my face!)
SO, if you are looking for yummy food and a different quirky rainbow unicorn atmosphere, you sache-​away yourself into Getto! Mkrrrrrrrr!!!

Getto has lost its groove. Still a friendly environment for both gay and straight, but the food and drinks have slipped.
This used to be my first choice for a night out. Now, I wouldn’t recommend it. The last three times the cocktails were weak and watery and the food mediocre. Tonight, in particular, the burgers were dry, and the lamb shank was stringy and practically inedible.
But the final insult was the desert. The banana chocolate chip cheesecake was a soggy mess.
What happened, Getto?

Fab food for more than reasonable prices. Live music sometimes, and sometimes the crowd is the entertainment.

Best hidden gem in Amsterdam’s Red Light District. Great food (burgers and chips, but also widely varying specials — I had Kangaroo there once!) and an even greater cocktail menu. Go on Sunday from 5pm for cocktail evening where they’re all at special prices mmmm.
Aside from that, they play great dance music and are very friendly people to boot. Every time I’m in the ‘dam, I’m in Getto at least once!
