This is a not so impressive looking eatery with very little space to move when you are not seated. The food, is very good so that makes everything alright! I don’t know much about Thai food but I do know that the two times that I came here and the different things that I ordered, were all very delicious! I really liked the coconut cream soup with the mushrooms. I love mushrooms and I love anything coconut so why would I not love this?! This place is not very expensive so just go here and try it out. You really won’t regret it! Although it’s not expensive, you might be tempted to keep ordering more… I know I was! That’s always a good sign, I’d say.

The very best Thai in downtown Amsterdam with three wonderful ladies to attend all your needs of food and non alcoholic drinks. Many times it can be very busy. You just join next to other fans on the long table. While eating this delicious food you have a change to meet someone and learn something new about the city.

This. Place. Wow. Go early on Friday or Saturday evenings, it fills quickly. I can’t elaborate on other reviews, just reiterate the«awesomeness» of OCHA.

Another great visit to OCHA. With a group of four, I veered off from my normal Penang curry to sample the Pad Thai, Som Tom, Basil Chicken Stir fry and fried rice. Starting off was the Tom Ka Kai soup. Consistent with previous visits, it is rich, bursting with flavor and really gets the taste buds alive. The Pad Thai is quite excellent here. Not a big noodle eater, but know what good Pad Thai is supposed to taste like. Usually focusing on my favorite red curries, I had overlooked Pad Thai here. Wow! the Pad Thai is a home run! Delicious rich noodles, cooked just right… slathered with a flavorful sauce, ground peanuts and in this case, tender chicken abundantly added. The Som Tom was capital ‘D’ delicious. I like«Thai hot», but that is hardly a common heat level. Since it was to be shared, the order went in mild. Well, to my benefit, the tempered level of chilies were still quite warm. So ‘warm’, that no one but me could take the heat. Som Tum here is nicely flavored with the fresh green papaya, chilies, nuts, and dried shrimp. Not to be missed to is just the right dash of Nam Pla(fish sauce) that gives Som Tom it’s signature essence. In summary, another great visit at OCHA. It is still my favorite Thai in Amsterdam and everyone I bring here vows they will be back soon for more of the good stuff.

see the grannies in that photo? They are cooking your amazing thai dishes, late in the night. No frills, no fuss, quick seating and the best thai in town. Try the red curry or the pad thai. AND it’s cheap. Doesn’t get better in Amsterdam!
