Lousy, fast food tasting food. Cheap prices. Poor service and they take forever to cook the food! So not worth it. Alcohol prices are slightly on the higher side and they charge for water(€ 4,50 for 750ml). There’s lots of Asian places in the area I would recommend to keep looking.

Decent Chinese food… They had a magazine review in the window which attracted us. .. ik niet spreken Nederlands, but the article sure did look classy, so we figured, why not? Haha We tried the Tasting Menu: prawns were good, as was the crispy beef and sweet and sour pork. The sweet and sour chicken dish was mostly veggies, and the duck was just too fatty. Lastly, the spring rolls were light on the filling, but tasty. Servers seemed rushed, though they were polite. In sum, this meal satisfied our taste for Chinese… Cheers! RS

We came from San Francisco for visiting. I dropped by this place via Unilocal’s. I ordered Yank Chow Fried Rice(10 Eu) for myself. Very tasty with decent portion. My 2 friends ordered dinner for 2(30Eu total) with following 6 dishes: 1.Indonesia Babi Pangang(Grilled Pork in Sweet Ginger Sauce). Must try for those who never had this dish before. Slightly spicy but very tasty. 2. Spring Rolls. 6 pieces. Very crispy. 3. Crispy Beef. Thumbs up. 4. Roast Duck. Portion big enough for 2 5. Chili Prawn(not spicy at all but tasty) 6. Sweet & Sour Chicken.(tender meat) Definitely good food with SUPER dollar value. Will return again if I ever visit Amsterdam via Cruise.

I visited Mr. Tongs with a group, so my experience may have not been the norm. We had several dishes served family style. There was plenty to go around and all the dishes were very tasty! The waitresses were attentive to our group and answered any questions we had and would get us refills on drinks when we needed them. It is a nice laid back atmosphere and even with all the people there, not too loud. We had a great evening. I’ll be back at some point soon!

This was my first experience with Chinese food since I came to Amsterdam so I was eager as I like Chinese food. I came with a large group of people. We had an all you can eat menu for 20 euro and all you can drink for an additional 5 euro. Wow good times, good food, great company. We had appetizers, entrees and a dessert. It was wonderful and there was plenty for everyone. We had a sampling of most everything and it was served family style. It was great. The service was great! The drinks being constantly refilled was also great. I have to say I really enjoyed my meal and experience there so I’ll definitely go back.

Mr. Tongs does excellent Chinese food. We had the fried dumplings, which were absolutely delicious. For dinner, I had the sweet and sour chicken which was miles above anything I’ve had at home. The sauce was tangy, but not TOO sweet. The mix of peppers, pineapple and onion really added to it as well. My partner ordered the duck special, which appears to be what they’re known for. It was cooked perfectly and served with rice. We both had Heineken to drink, but the server got my partner’s drink order wrong the first time and didn’t seem at all concerned. This was kind of the theme of the service. Slow, not particularly friendly or attentive. That was the only negative. This place also takes American credit cards.

I was in the neighborhood and tried their crispy duck, and it was indeed crispy and delicious. A little salty, but still crispy, which is the important thing. Their egg fried rice was good and their kung pao chicken was a bit flaccid and smooshy but the spice level was ok. As I stated in my original review, don’t expect them to deliver, but they’re a decent Chinese place if you’re in the area.

Oh Gott! I was annoyed at this place. My companion and I headed here around mid-afternoon(3PM-ish) to seek shelter from the cold and rain that suddenly poured upon Amsterdam. We thought the Chinese restaurant would have some good Chinese tea to warm us up. So we ordered that. But the server, oh, the server, she was one pushy mean girl. She took the blackboard where they had the specials written up and propped it at the chair next to me, taking 10 seconds to explain everything. I felt like I was being pushed to order something, when all we wanted was some tea. In the end, I figured it wouldn’t be bad to order a snack, so I placed an order for some xiao long bao, which are steamed dumplings. When I placed the order, she asked if we would want something else, because these xiao long bao are just so small! It was accompanied by a hand gesture that was quite annoying, so I was forced to be frank and direct, and told her that we only wanted that. Anyway, we enjoyed the tea, while listening to the same server(there was only one server) become pushy with other clients as well. In my head, the stars went down one by one. And when it was time to pay, our bill was around 14,50. I placed a 50EUR bill asking her if she had 35,00 in change, but she said no, and was rather impolite as well, so I just gave her all coins, and I changed my mind with respect to giving her a small tip. Never again.

This is a great Chinese restaurant in the centre of Amsterdam near the Leidseplein. I love their crispy duck with pancakes, so I can’t actually comment on the rest of the menu very much as I always order that dish… we are always greeted warmly and they have a fair amount of space — once did a birthday dinner with 15 people there and everybody loved it.

The food is amazing but as a New Yorker I have to remember expectations for good service should be left at the door. You wait forever, so don’t here if you are already hungry and have an appetite. Actually even if you are thirsty. They are good for getting your order wrong but even so when the wrong plate comes out it still tastes delicious. I think they got our order wrong 2x and the people next to us had their order wrong also. Service could be a little more efficient is really my only complaint because once the food comes no matter what it is, it tastes amazing!!!
