It was a nice place to grab a quick lunch. I was pleased that they stayed open an extra 30 minutes for me and my friend on a Sunday. I guess the hours are earlier– only until 5, or when the last customer leaves. They didn’t say anything, so I didn’t know until the end and didn’t pressure me to leave. I ended up with a sandwich and the pumpkin soup, not sure how authentic it was to Peru. I was tasty though and the staff was pleasant.

I went yesterday with a peruvian friend who is living in Manchester for 3 years. Who else but a peruvian guy to be as a jury? He was totally astonished and excited about the food. He just called the cheff saying to him literally: «I’m from Lima and I was travelling around Europe trying many peruvian restaurants but this one is on the top». I tried a «lomo saltado» which is marinated strips of beef steak, with onions, tomatoes, and other ingredients, french fries and rice. My friend tried«arroz con mariscos» which is basically rice with seafood. Both are highly recommended. There are also menu for vegans(quinoa maybe?). We tried also pisco sour which is the Peru flagship drink /cocktail. It uses Peruvian pisco as the base liquor. Delicious! About the atmosphere, nice design, not that peruvian but with some nice paintings and people working there are very nice. It’s win-win restaurant.

Loved this place! We stopped for lunch because we saw they had lots of outdoor seating and only one table left – it had to have something good! We both enjoyed the pumpkin soup with fresh cheese, and let me tell you, OMG. So so so good. The perfect amount with two big hunks of cheese in a thick, creamy, and beautiful orange soup. I broke up the cheese so it melted a little when I stirred it in, oh my! The soup was to die for, and the dehydrated strips of pumpkin mixed back in were a delicious addition as well. The house bread must have been fresh because it was still crunchy flakey on the outside and dense and soft in the middle – I’d highly recommend you dunk that in the soup! We shared a chicken/egg/avocado sandwich that was absolutely delicious, with this yummy sauce that had a bit of a kick and *bacon*… On this delightfully fresh brioche roll. Plenty of people here! Only pitfall was service – slow, slow, slow and not very attentive to the fact we sat almost 20 minutes before we just went inside to get the check and pay the bill.

Great place to stop for a beer on coffee on the canal but that is about it. Food is terrible

Just stopped by for a coffee… Neat and cosy restaurant located near center. Warm ambience, quick and friendly service.

Warm welcome, attentive staff, good and diversified dishes, relaxing atmosphere and nice view. Yet, the«peruvian side» of the concept is somehow diluted in a mainstream menu and decoration. The only drawback is the music that can be annoying at times.

I don’t expect much from many restaurants in the city centre; among them falafel and Argentinian steakhouses that leave much to be desired. But this is something different. When I think Peruvian food, I think yukka, spiced chicken, pisco, lomo and ceviche. Mashua takes these traditional elements and adds a modern twist through presentation and deconstruction. I had the ceviche to start, then spiced chicken thigh and queso fresco ravioli in a cream sauce of cashews and yellow peppers. My partner munched on the potato tartlet with tuna + avocados, plus the lomo with potatoes, rice and cilantro. The presentation was lovely. My giant pisco cocktail was great, and the service was knowledgeable, trilingual and friendly. Would go again to try out the rabbit which looked so good!

Came for lunch had a Nashua salad. Atmosphere and service are good. Food slow to come. Not very Peruvian but the ingredients were fresh. Value is not so good overall. Apparently they have a different menu at night.

Delicious, a few things that I wasn’t such a fan of but in general they have flavor down pat. The pork tenderloin, the short ribs were both delicious. The duck is less filling, so if hungry don’t suggest that. The medley fried appetizer with seafood and yucca is yumalish. The fish ceviche I would have eaten all night, incredibly tasty sauce and came on a medley plate which was also great. The Peruvian red wine was delis too. And the tres leeches cake, my goodness! This was my second time here. Service was great, not too crowded but recommend a reservation. They have canal side seating too which is great on a nice evening or day. Thumbs up, I am coming back for sure.

We had the roasted tenderloin as an appetizer and Lomo Saltado for the main course. Both were excellent. We have been to Peru many times and the food here is authentic.

We came here during restaurant week for a fixed 3 course menu with some options. I thought the food was delicious and we had a great evening! The restaurant is on the smaller side, but has a pretty good vibe. The wait staff was also engaging and chatting with me, which is always nice to see in Amsterdam.

Came for lunch and we were not disappointed. Fantastic sandwiches and a great location beside the canal alongside excellent service. Came later for dinner and it was even better than lunch. Fantastic duck and ribs. One of the better, more laid back restaurants we’ve been to.

Peruvian /Japanese fusion at its best. Great food, great service and pro-active knowledge of a gluten-free diet: a must-go and a keeper!

Before I beign — Let me tell u guys that the food here is very good. The 2 stars have been taken away for the very rude and bad service(which I think I should be used to by now in Amsterdam) Incredibly delicious food — We got the combination of 5 starters — fresh potato tartlet with tuna — ceviche of raw see bass — king prawns in crispy quinoa — skewer of roasted fillet of beef — potato slices with creamy dressing of sundried yellow peppers and fresh cheese and it was all good. The beef skewers were my favorite — they were a little spicy — just right. For the main course I had casserole chicken and ravioli — very good — decent portion, right amount of spice One of my friends had stewed lean pork chops, served with a purée of camote(south-american sweet potato) and that was good too– the camote was a little too sweet for my taste. And one of the other friends had the beef rib stew — it was huge — big chunks of meat and no bones — i’m used to the american style ribs but these had no bones and were quite tender and delicious — portion was a bit much for one person. And for dessert we had tres leches which I thought was great but my peruvian friend felt that it could be better :) The service was poor, as I mentioned earlier, the waitress was rude and unfriendly — not a single smile throughout the evening and one of my friends had to get up and go to the bar to get a drink coz we were waiting for so long for somebody to come to our table and take our drink order I’m going here again for sure coz the food was good but the service scares me a little…

Very nice restaurant. very central, right off Leidsestraat, small but nicely decorated with seating outside when weather allows it. It is Peruvian fusion food. The menu is quite short, which I actually like it. Ample choice of whine. which I also like :) I went for Chevice as starter… it was nicely prepared with all the whistles and bells… I could feel a bit too much the lemon for my personal taste, but over all well done. My main course was a great boneless chicken leg prepared with cumin crust/sauce with wild spinach and young potatoes. it was really delish! My friend went for lomo both for starter and for main course and she really appreciated it. As we were there for restaurant week, the dessert was a surprise one. Pleasantly surprised indeed! Warm chocolate mouse was one and the other lemon mouse on crispy parfait… nice. We went for a white French whine from Alsace to cover the dinner… very nice. Finish the dinner with Drambuie… yes, they have a full bar, even if not too extended. The over all experience is great. Very good service and not too loud place even if everything happens in one room. The bar on one side gives the whole lofty area a very nice touch. The kitchen is well segregated in the back so you do not get food smell all over you. Tables are tiny in the best Amsterdam tradition and quite close to each other so if you are looking for a romantic private evening… well… you might get curious neighbours :) It is pricey and do not expect big portions(maybe that was because of restaurant week) but I will definitely return !! Well done.

Here’s a review from the USA. I’ve eaten at Mashua 4 times. Each time, it’s been great. Service is good — if you go there in the Summer you can sit outside by the canal. Great atmosphere at night, food is awesome, drinks are awesome. It’s good — check it out.

«Peruvian Fusion Kitchen» — I had never eaten Peruvian before, so I would give it a try … I had a «sopa de trigo», which had only a small amount of soup and a large heap of meat in it, which was a bit dry and difficult to eat. The main course, «canilla de cordero laqueado» was okay, but a bit more sauce would have been welcome as well. Price was average for Amsterdam.
