Majestic

The place is very fancy looking and they have a beautiful terrace that has a view on the Dam Square. The prices are really steep, which is understandable for this prime location.
I’m only giving two stars because some staff members were quite rude and we’re really annoyed when we asked about the items on the menu. I expected a high quality customer service, instead we gotta cheap and unprofessional one. I felt like the guests weren’t treated equally. If you come in with a fancy suit, you’ll be attended better than an average person.

Was walking around last Saturday night looking for a cute place to grab a bite with my husband. Majestic looked busy and we decided to wander in. The inside is perfect for a date night with a hip ambience (cool wine and lighting display, lounge feeling) outside there are lots of tables and best of all heat lamps.
Though this is located in the super touristy Dam Square I didn’t find it much more expensive than other higher end restaurants (meals from 15 – 25 euro).the menu has enough selection, lots of options for vegetarian, meats and seafood. We opted to the Mussels and Dutch Trio. Mussels portion are huge and tasty but not traditional style, these come three sauces mayo based. The
Dutch trio was delicious and came with a small portions of steak, meatball and sausage under a hemp of different stampots.
Our bill came out to 75 euro including two house wines and two beers. Waiter was attentive and polite however it took almost 10 minutes to receive a menu after we sat down.

Nice atmosphere, great location, friendly staff and pricey mediocre food. Outside is nice to drink a coffee or a beer and people watch. I got the Holland trio, the sausage with the sauerkraut potatoes were ok the meatball was dry and the steak was pretty much inedible. The restaurant is located in Dam square. Which is a pleasant place to be pretty much anytime of the day. I would recommend looking for another place on one of the nearby streets if your looking for dinner out. But if your looking for a place to take a break from shopping or walking, and grab a drink it’s a nice vibe.

Great location right in Dam Square… Fantastic for people watching! The service is great, but the food is just so-​so and it’s very expensive.
My boyfriend and I came in for dinner to escape from a sudden downpour. I had one glass of wine and he had two beers. We shared a bowl of pea soup… I had the Italian salad and he had spaghetti carbonara. The check came to nearly 100 euros… which wouldn’t have been bad if the food had been better.
The soup was filled (!!!) with ham and bacon and all sorts of bits and pieces of pork. Some may like that, but I was looking for a soup, not a stew. My boyfriend enjoyed his pasta… once they brought him the kind he actually ordered… at first they brought him spaghetti with meat sauce… but they quickly whisked it away and replaced it once he pointed out the error. It was al dente and covered with a creamy, cheesy, garlicky sauce and lots of ham (not the traditional bacon).
My salad was quite large and it had lots of stuff in it. Actually too much stuff. All kinds of lettuce (the menu said rocket) and tomatoes (fresh and sun-​dried) and olives and capers and zucchini and cucumbers and onions and mushrooms and pine nuts and at least four other things that I can’t remember. The dressing was oily and salty. The salad was then topped with two slices of bread that were doused with olive oil and topped with mozzarella cheese and then topped with pesto and more olive oil. The salad was kind of like a veggie sensory overload… and I love big, interesting salads.
The waiter was friendly and helpful… and we were very happy to sit by the window with a view of the Square until our bellies were full and the rain had stopped and we could continue exploring the lovely city of Amsterdam.

Touristy place, great outdoor sitting on a nice day in Amsterdam. The food was OK I had a lamb kebab sandwich and my husband had a steak sandwich. Nothing really special to write in this review. The staff was nice. What makes this place great if the fact that it is right in Dam Square, lots of shopping and restaurants in this area. For any H&M fans they have 3 stores within 1 Km of each other.
Nice place for a quick bite on a nice day in Amsterdam, but mainly for people watching not the food.

Restaurant sympa qui donne sur la place Dam. L’intérieur est superbement décoré. Les serveurs sont aux petits soins. La carte est fournie. Les prix sont accessibles. La terrasse est assez grande pour accueillir pas mal de monde.

The restaurant itself is nice, and the patio overlooking the Dam is a lovely place to sit for a drink.
We had breakfast here on a Wednesday mid-​day, I opted for the English breakfast and my partner had the yogurt and muesli. (Spoiler alert: he made the better choice)
My breakfast (13 euro) included only one egg, which felt cheap (not the good kind). The portion of beans was also small (though I didn’t enjoy them anyway) and they used sauces and butter in the page to make it appear full. I want impressed.
The yogurt in contrast (6,50 Euro) was large and both the fruit and muesli were very nice. Definitely the better value as well
Overall I would enjoy a drink on the patio here, but wouldn’t dine here again.

I’ve gone to the Majestic both times I’ve been to Amsterdam. It’s located right in Dam Square and perfectly situated for people watching. The first time I just drank and the second, I had the most awesome burger and fries with my beer! It was so good after traveling so far.
Only downside is all the smoking. Almost every person around use was smoking. If there was 40 people 35 were smoking!!! NO JOKE. However, it seems as though everyone smokes in Amsterdam… and I’m talking cigarettes. Not the other, sweeter smelling smoke that Amsterdam offers… :)

Great place to sit, people watch, have a nice lunch and definitely a drink. They have a dj and music in the evening.

Summary: this place is extremely expensive due to its convenient location in Dam Square. The service was terrible as our waitress stopped by after 30 minutes of us waiting around, grabbed our order, came back with the check, and left. Someone else had to give us our food and when they messed up our order, we had to pay the difference for their error. The food itself was average, but def not worth the obscene price ($ 70 for two for lunch). You can walk a few blocks down for much better food at much better prices or get take out at surrounding fast food joints and sit under the Memorial statue if you want to eat at Dam Square.

Very yummy drinks and the nicest bartenders, busy which is a good sign, didn’t eat anything but we will be back Hayovc is a outstanding bartender and I highly recommend this place

We thought the food was excellent. Service was very friendly and he spoke good English. We would have eaten there another night if we had the opportunity. BUT 10 euros for plain bottled is a ripoff. So we would order wine next time.

Ich bin am Freitag mit meiner Freundin um 22 Uhr dort gewesen. Nach einer langen Sightseeing-​Tour wollten wir uns bei einem Cocktail ein wenig entspannen. Nun sind 10EUR für einen alkoholfreien Cocktail oberes Niveau aber wenn er schmeckt, gern. Nach 40 (!!!) min kam unser Cocktail der leider nach langweiligem Fruchtsaft geschmeckt hat. Als Verzierung ein Stück Ananas das die besten Tage bereits hinter sich hatte. Danke, nicht noch einmal!

Direkt einmal im Herzen von AmsterDam: Das Majestic. Es treibt der mittägliche Hunger und Lösungen sind gefragt, zumal der Malle Jaap schon eins schlägt, dann ist es sicher schon nach zwölf. Das erste, was uns die niederländische Krone gegenüber ihrer schlichten Hütte in den Weg setzte hiess Majestic standesgemäss. Und eingekehrt. Die internationale Karte bietet internationale Speisen, auch mit dem Hauch der ehemaligen Kolonien der Niederlanden oder solcher, die es werden sollten.
So bleibe ich beim Tandoori-​Salat kleben, eine durchaus mittelmässige Wahl. Die frischen Salatblätter waren etwas dick mit Dressing überzogen und die eher harmlose Geschmachfackfaltigkeit des Dressings wurde auch von dem Tandoori-​Hühnchen nicht gerettet es lümmelt sich zwar keck auf dem Salat, hatte auch indische (hoffentlich lebensmittelechte) Farben angenommen, aber den indischen-​intensiv Würzkurs hat es während seiner Marinierzeit geschwänzt. So bleibt es ein mittelmässiges Geschmackserlebnis. Mariniertage sind eben keine Lafftage.
Mein drumherum futtert Sandwiches und Burger (der wirklich sehr gut war, Fleisch und Gesamterscheinung inklusive Geschmack, passt aber nicht zu meiner Diät) begleitet von mir vorher hoch beworbenen Fritten, die dann aber unterdurchschnittlich gut ausfielen. Sie waren etwas lümmelig weich und brachten auch keinen sehr frischen Geschmack mit.
Dazu gab es Eistees, Wasser und Cola, was denn für vier hungrige Menschen in einer gar nicht einmal unerheblichen Rechnung endete pro Person waren es über 20, EUR die Location hat es verdient, der Burger erst recht, der Rest kann noch wachsen.

Fun vibe, cool stylings. Expensive drinks! On a beautiful day it’s a lovely place to be inside or outside.
Usually very busy, so it’s faster to order drinks at bar & take them to your seat unless you’re also dining.

€ 12 for two glasses of coke!!! Wow, I know this city is expensive but that’s just crazy. It’s just blatant exploitation of tourists with hangovers!
Kind of my own fault really for not checking the menu, turns out large coke (about 10ml bigger than small coke) is double the price. I feel like I’ve been had.
On the plus side it’s a smart looking bar with a trendy interior and comfy seats. They also serve amazing fries, ten times better than Manneken Pis, accompanied by cute little pots of ketchup and mayo.
On the negative, its blooming expensive and the service is slow and lacking friendliness. Come on, how hard is it to crack a smile?!
I couldn’t really justify the € 20 burger so went for a toasted sandwich for the bargain price of € 4.
Overall, a nice place to wile away a couple of hours and escape the rain (have I mentioned the rain?!). But watch what you order, you may need an overdraft extension just to settle your bill.

Their terrace is great, can’t beat the location! Just sit down, have one of their fabulous cocktails and watch the world walk by :) Expensive but worth it!
