This place is full of personality, even if it’s a bit touristy. Predictably given it’s location, this place is mostly foreigners, but it’s the cool ones! Not sure whether it’s the awesome and friendly bar tender, or the music she plays, but it seems to attract all the people with stories and gets them talking. It won’t cost you a fortune to drink and or get a snack at this place either.

What a great find! A hole in the wall bar with an edgy bartender, right off the main square. We lucked out. We also lucked in meeting Ank(sp?). She doesn’t take any crap, but treat her and the bar with respect and she’s a doll. She had me come behind the bar so she could teach me how to pour a proper beer. I’ve been schooled! My wife gave her our contact info, which should tell you all you need to know. Space is at a premium over here. All bar storage, including kegs, is in the basement accessed through a trap door behind the small bar. The bathroom is upstairs — spiral staircase that felt about 6″ wide(drunk test). Regardless, this is our kind of place and we hope we hear from our new friend!

Sitting smack dab in the middle of Damrak in the busy tourist area is a friendly, tiny little bar near Dam square across the street from the war monument. The bartenders are friendly. The drinks are moderately priced. It’s a premier location to people watch any time of day or night. You can find a space to sit inside or sit outside if any chairs and tables are available. Be careful even if you’re sober the stairs to the bathroom are so steep they could almost pass for a ladder.

Always obey the laws of wherever you are visiting :-) Quite out of the way coffee-bar ;-). But do yourself a favor if you are headed back to the US: leave the takeout from Café Dam in Amsterdam.

An old, quaint little bar near Dam Square with friendly bartenders, cold beers, and football scarves lining the ceiling. We felt very welcomed when we stopped in for a drink late on a Sunday night and if we had been staying closer I’m sure we would have returned for another visit or two. As other reviewers have mentioned, watch our for the stairs to the bathroom, I’m sure they’d become a bit dangerous after one too many!

Very cute bar! Good drinks, very affordable, cool people, stairs to bathroom are CRAZY small, steep and narrow. Good music too… small bar though, good location.

This is a nice, quaint, little bar that will have bartenders meet you with a smile and a drink. Be forewarned — it’s not a large spot and 20 occupants will make it a very cozy establishment in a heartbeat. But mid-week, it was a great get away from the cold of Dam Square. Also, be careful on the steps going up to the bathrooms. If you’re too bombed, you may become a bomb if you roll down!
