Ansonsten eher durchschnittlich.

L’Ozio — the idleness, quite a cool name for a restaurant! One of our friends brought us here for lunch. Otherwise I probably woudn’t have discovered it. Because it’s not new and mentioned everywhere and it also doesn’t seem to belong to the evergreens that appear in my foodie friends’ list when someone asks for alltime favourites. Unlike the promising name the service was good, no dolce far niente. The waitress served us quickly and professionally and when we asked for water she didn’t implicitly bring the expensive Acqua Panna but she asked if we meant tap water. Appreciate it! We asked for the lunch option that we saw on their website but not mentioned on the menu: a selection of antipasti and the choice between 3 pasta dishes and coffee of choice. And this all for € 17,50 — good deal! The antipasti that we got looked and tasted fantastic and the portion was huge! We were almost full only from the starter. Also the main course was delicious. The food is not very traditional in my opinion, but a classy, modern interpretation. I’m looking forward to our next visit!

The only reason it took me so long to finish this review is because I could not decide if I want to award l’Ozio 4 or 5 stars. So thorn… My motivation for going lower was that at the very beginning of my evening there, they ran out of the Pino Grigio. Provided, it was very enjoyable and we had three bottles of it, I still believe that you should not run out of one of the wines you also serve per glass, thus making it somewhat of a house wine, at such an early point of the evening. On the upside, however, we did manage to find it a replacement, and continue our imbibing… As usual, I’d say. Focusing on the food, however, I ended up being swayed towards the higher ‘grade’. My visit to l’Ozio took place roughly two weeks ago, on a Friday. Close by to where I live and with an intriguing menu, it seemed like the right place to celebrate my third university degree with my parents and a couple of girlfriends. Overall we managed to sample quite some dishes, but still leaving enough to indulge in during my following visit. Which I am hoping to take place shortly. I ordered the octopus salad as a starter, platter to share, meat for the main course, and sampled a coquilles st. Jacques from the oven. Octopus salad — Amazing. As a lover of almost all dishes including octopus, I really enjoyed it. The octopus was very well cooked, tender, and with a nice clean flavor. I could have eaten a second portion with no hesitation or regrets. Well, maybe regrets for a split second, upon realizing that the summer months are coming: P But then again, it was light, fresh and high in proteins, so I see great health benefits. I also ordered the ‘Degustazione dei nostri Salumi e Formaggi tipici’ to share. A mouthful, I know, but I was happy about my mouth being full of the delicious Italian cold cuts and cheeses. I even asked the chef for the mane of the cheese we had. He wrote it down on a paper for me. Since I cannot find it at this moment, however, you will have to go to l’Ozio and try it yourself. Or wait until I update this review. The main course I ordered was the ‘Tagliata di Manzo al pepe verde’. Lean beef slices with a nice pepper sauce. The portion was the right size. Not too big, but also not too small. You should understand this in the following terms: I managed to finish it after having my starter and the shared platter on the one hand, while my dad was also satisfied with the portion, and did not complain of still being hungry on the other. I skipped the desert as I was quite full, but from what I hear it was great. A quick coffee, and we were ready to hit the town for some light K’night celebrations. Verdict: I really enjoyed my dinner at l’Ozio. Great company, great food and good mood. What else do you need?

After getting jaded by the rating, I went in with very low expectations, but boy was I wrong. This place serves some decent food, and is even very vegetarian friendly. The seating is spacious and the décor is quite tasteful. I spent a few minutes gawking at the various paintings adorning the walls of the restaurant. The service was quick and hospitable. We weren’t asked about more drinks, but once we were able to flag a server, any additional requests were addressed promptly. The wine list is decent and we actually enjoyed two bottles of our wine. The food menu was your Italian staple, but had no pizzas. In our group of 4, we went with a meat and cheese platter, the house pumpkin soup(which was very delicious), the vegetarian ravioli of the day, and the risotto special. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Sadly, after the meal and wine, mew had no space for one of the fancier desserts on the menu. There’s always a next time, though. With good quality food and inexpensive prices, this is one classy dining spot, perfect for a dinner with company.

Not the greatest Italian place I’ve ever been but not the worst either. We ordered the house wine which was OK and the charcuterie was lovely and delicious. For our mains we both had the artichoke and cheese with a butter and sage sauce. Speaking of sauces, I actually didn’t see any, which was disturbing at first and then I had to self soothe with wine until the idea passed. The plates came and it was not traditional ravioli’s by any means, and the butter and cheese for sauce substitution was weak. Lovely décor, and waitstaff but the food could USESOMESAUCE damnit.
