King Hotel

Stayed here in 2012. Good stay but poor service. Great location is the reason for 3 stars. 7 minute walk to the Euro-​park garage on Marnix Straadt. 1 minute walk to the famous Leidseplein Square. Flat screen TV with 4 or 5 English channels. Staff could care less. Location is the only positive to this hotel.

The rooms are small but when you’re in Amsterdam you shouldn’t be spending too much time in your room anyways. The furniture was pretty newish looking and most importantly everything was clean. The bed was fairly comfortable, but the biggest benefit was the location. It’s just steps from the heart of Leidseplein which has so many dining and drinking options.

King Hotel is a little diamond in the rough. We found it online and booked because they had the best price in town while still having a wonderful location. It is near the museums, the restaurants, the clubs and right on a tram line.
The room was pretty average. Comfortable beds (two singles pushed together, which is common for Europe), decent shower, coffee maker, glassware, wardrobe, etc.
The hotel does a very nice continental breakfast which is complimentary with the rate and was wonderful!
The thing that really got us was the wonderful service. The desk staff went above and beyond on more than one occasion. We decided to stay an extra two days in Amsterdam because we were having a great time. We booked another night because it was available and they ensured our experience was seamless. Same room, no check in check out. They were full the second night but set us up at their sister property and facilitated the transition. Extremely impressed and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

This hotel was a bit of a surprise. It’s very close to shopping and the dinning district. The rooms are not too bad. Room six does not have air but you can leave the window open. They do provide a fan in the room. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfy. The bathroom is small but really how much time are you going to spend in there! He staff is friendly. They offer a wonderful breakfast however it starts at 8 AM. If you have an early flight it won’t work. We will for sure stay here again when we come back to visit.
