Accessible Indian groceries right in the center of Amsterdam? Sign me up!
I haven’t lived in many cities outside India where I could make a short public transport trip to an Indian grocery store. Luckily for me, Amsterdam changed all that. Khera’s is a homely little place in the center of the city. I am always greeted by the same friendly Indian lady every time I visit. It is always a good time catching up with her about various events and discussing days long passed. The clientele seems to be mostly loyal customers who keep coming back for their fix of ethnic food, fresh produce, and often just friendly conversation with the owner.
Khera’s is also probably the only place in Amsterdam to find fresh Indian cottage cheese.
Prices are average, selection is vast, and the taste of home, priceless.
