This hotel has been nothing but amazing I’ve been in Amsterdam 4 nights now transferred over here the 2nd night due to reduction in my group. Long story short best customer service I’ve ever had Chang is a lifesaver all in all 10⁄10

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I stayed here for 3 nights in a group of 5 girls. We had booked a triple room and a twin room — the triple turned out to be a twin plus sofa bed on the ground floor directly adjacent to the kitchen and reception, and the twin was on the third floor and had a shared bathroom. On arrival in the triple room it appeared fine, however the windows didn’t shut properly, the radiator was shielding mould and mildew from view and the bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied from the previous guests. Bad start! However being not fussy and just glad to have a bed we settled down and got on with our holiday. On our return to the hotel on our second night we were pleasantly surprised at the housekeeping, so were put into a more relaxed state of mind. HOWEVER, we decided on this night we would spend the night on our room with a couple of drinks and a pack of cards — bad move! Turns out the hotel policy is absolutely no noise after 2100, which had they informed us about would have been fine, but they hadn’t. Nevertheless, come 2320 when we were alerted to the fact we were being rather loud, a simple knock on the door would have sufficed to quieten us down. The owner, however, decided the correct course of action was to burst into the room with no prior knocking and aggressively tell us that we are going to be kicked out as it is too late and that we should stop screaming. As a group of 5 females we were all rather taken aback by this invasion of our privacy, and had we not luckily put the chain on the door the man would have been directly into our room — we could have been in any state of undress /showering etc. This made our entire stay very uncomfortable and we were really quite upset and shaken by the way the owner felt to deal with the situation. We complained on our check out that we thought the way in which the situation was dealt was completely unacceptable, however whether due to the language barrier(though he had no problem the previous night!) or just plain rudeness of the owner he didn’t seem to understand what we were complaining about and therefore no apology was offered. To top it off, when we arrived home, and having paid for the hotel at the time of booking, the owner reported to the booking agent that we did not show up for our stay and therefore was going to recharge the full amount again! We reported back to the agent that we did stay there and have some internal photographs should they wish to clarify — we are still awaiting the outcome! I will not be returning and I will not be recommending. Extremely bad attitude ruining what could be a very nice product.

What can I say? This is easily my favorite hotel. The owners are very lovely and the rooms are quite nice and you can fit several people in them, if needed. Some rooms have shared bathrooms, but ours had it’s own. They have a delicious breakfast in the morning and are seconds away from some of the sites of Amsterdam. It’s an old building, with lots of character and in a quiet neighborhood. If you intend to party, I would stay somewhere else in respect to the other guests and neighbors.
