Super cute café off the beaten path of the bustle in Centrum. Very reasonably priced unlike so many places in Amsterdam. Great coffee plus croissants that rival many had in Paris! The lunch menu of hot and cold sandwiches plus salads and a daily soup offer choices to suit all tastes. One of my new go to’s when in the city. Perfect to sit with coffee and a book either inside or at one of the bistro tables outside. NOTE: no cash accepted so for foreigners like myself don’t forget your credit card!

Breakfast or lunch place. It’s good, basic, and cheerful. I come back because it’s conveniently located for me and the kind of place where they don’t mind if you stay a while with your laptop open.

I don’t often have to question what to rate a place, or what the appropriate Unilocal criteria is. I generally go with a gut feeling. But sometimes personal taste and general acceptableness of an enteriprise clash. Basically, it’s not really my scene. Faux country décor, Nora Jones in the background, what can be interpreted as the saccharine sweet is niet mijn ding. Afterall, I’m so much more of a savory than sweet person. Cheese plate over chocolate cake everytime. most times. Anyway, this little café does have its charm. The french toast I had, although lacking maple syrup, was pretty good. They had nice looking tarts and a friendly vibe. Nice cozy neighborhood. Probably wouldn’t go back, but no reason you shouldn’t stop by for a cup of coffee and a snackcake if you’re in the hood.

Quality is really good, very nice smoothies and really good coffee. The bread in the uitsmijter is much better than usual, but the service is poor… had to wait ages to order and even longer to get the food.

I used to live down the street from Helena Primakoff and it’s the perfect place to come for coffee, lunch, or sweets. It’s sunny and inviting and the prices are comparable with most cafes in the city. Lots of options for vegetarians including a grilled cheese, avocado, and chutney sandwich, roasted vegetable sandwich, yogurt, french toast, cakes, and pastries. A little off the beaten path, in the NE area of Amsterdam on lovely Czaar Peterstraat. A great place if you want to escape the bustle of the central city. Menu is in Dutch but I’m sure they can help with translation if you need!

This is a close cozy corner spot where I go to get my French Toast fix. It’s pretty good but it’s served with deep brown sugar instead of maple syrup. If you ask them nicely they can wrassle up some(non-maple) syrup from the kitchen and a side of bacon, which is the closest you’ll come to sausage links here. They also have smoothies and coffees and soups and broodjes and tosti’s, so they cover a whole range of breakfast territory. There aren’t that many tables, so you might have to sit with a stranger when you come here alone, but it feels totally normal and you can still have your personal space and eat your breakfast or lunch in peace.

A pleasant place for breakfast, lunch, or just some tea. The tables outside are wonderful on sunny days.
