Gemütlich im Park am Wasser sitzen und eine leckeren Apfel-​Pfannkuchen frühstücken. Das kann man hier. Es gibt auch belegte Brötchen, Toast …
Selbstbedienung ist hier angesagt, da muss man sich erstmal zurechtfinden. An der Kasse werden die Speisen bestellt und später per Nummer ausgerufen. Ein Kinderspielplatz befand sich auch auf dem Gelände.

Sehr angenehmer Zwischenstopp im Vondelpark. Das Café liegt direkt an einem schönen kleinen See.
Hier ist zwar Selbstbedienung, dafür sind die Preise aber auch sehr günstig und fair. Es gibt auch Essen, allerdings haben wir das nicht probiert.
Super ist auch das kostenlose Trinkwasser, welches am Ende der Kasse steht. Das finde ich super und ist für mich immer der perfekte Kaffeebegleiter.
Familien und auch Hunde sind hier sehr Willkommen

Great bean bags and plenty of places to seat outside. Unfortunately the wrapped sandwiches don’t look too appetizing and the voice on the megaphone calling numbers is a conversation destroyer… Also, even if you just want drinks you have to queue with all the others who also want food.

Love this self serve restaurant situated almost in the center of the Vondelpark. The choices are plenty and there’s something for everyone, including kids. The prices are alright. You just can’t beat the location, though. It’s always a pleasure looking at the world go by.
They have those coin operated rides for kids, too. Indeed, there is always a lot of kids present here. Finding a nice waterfront table could be hard on nice days, but the wait is well worth it.

It’s nothing special. It’s just a self serve place to go for a drink, a snack or both and sit at a table in the shade or the sun alone or with friends in the park for a respite from walking, running, exercising the dog or cycling.

You should get to use the bathroom for free if you have a receipt. But you don’t, so bring 30 cents…60 cents if your kid is going too… vultures.
Anyway, perfect spot for parents — a serve yourself café with a large enclosed playground right inside Vondelpark. You can take your food/​drinks, watch your kid play and just sit. Perfect.
Food is typical kid-​centric fare. Don’t expect Michelin.
Minus one star for the bathrooms.

Lovely little self-​service café situated in the middle of beautiful Vondelpark. The menu is not extensive but the surroundings more than make up for any lack in food variety. I went for a panini which was tasty. As well as the warm sandwiches and fries they also have pre-​packed sarnies, and a good selection of cakes and ice creams.
There is a good selection of soft drinks and beers. I can highly recommend the Heineken rose!
There is ample seating, we chose to sit on the terrace next to the river. Maybe not ideal for those with children but there is a play area out the back to keep the little ones entertained.
Take your purse to the loos — there’s a 30c charge to pee!

Gleich am ersten Tag unseres Amsterdam-​Urlaubs liefen wir durch den Vondelpark und landeten im Café Het Groot Melkhuis.
Da ich nur eine Kleinigkeit wollte, bestellte ich einen Pfannkuchen mit Äpfeln für 5 Euro. Ich bekam eine Nummer und als diese aufgerufen wurde konnte ich mir meinen Pfannkuchen holen. Er war sehr groß und dazu gab es Erdbeermarmelade und Sirup. Er war sehr schmackhaft und die 5 Euro sind für Amsterdam recht günstig. Also absolut empfehlenswert.
Zum Café an sich: Man kann auf der Terrasse sehr schön am Wasser sitzen und das Treiben im Vondelpark beobachten. Also auch dafür ein Pluspunkt.
