D.F. just went to hell a year ago – l’ve gone there for eleven years, and this was the best coffeeshop in Amsterdam back in the day, but now it’s pushy about purchases, amount of time spent at a table etc., not a friendly place. Just spent 19 nights in Amsterdam, and avoided D.F. like the plague. Shows you what happens when a new owner takes over and has no clue how to manage a good thing – truly pathetic outcome.

I was walking around Amsterdam alone the day the before Thanksgiving when I wandered past the corner door of the Dutch Flowers. I was drawn in by the warm colors and how clean/not dingy it looked compared to most coffee shops. They had honey but not lemon for my hot tea(which at € 2,50 was also a whole euro less than I had become used to paying for a tea bag in Amsterdam) Their € 7 chocolate space cake is a euro more than most places but moist and one of the better-tasting ones in my opinion. The guy working behind the counter seemed nice and social, although if you are looking for a real schooling in «dutch flowers» I would still go talk to the folk at the more famous(for good reason!) De Dampkring.

Won’t let you in unless you buy a significant amount of what they’re selling. Even if it’s completely empty.

Quiet place, good choice of products. I liked ‘neville haze’ very much, but there’s more good things like charas and blueberry. Chill music and kind employee.

This was our first stop after checking into the hotel and it was so wonderful! Had the small beatnik café vibe, with a very nice English gent working the counter. The selection of weed was great and the prices were reasonable. They made a great cappuccino. Only downside was that they closed at 8pm, but there were plenty of other coffee shops in the area for the late nighters! Would definitely return.

We went there once and didn’t stay. I think we decided to go to a museum before starting in on the coffee shops. Then every time we went back they were closed even though the hours on the sign stated they should be open. There was no sign stating that they would be closed, but I was very disappointed because my friend had recommended it highly.

In a haste to hurry up and see a real Amsterdam«coffeeshop» aka place to buy weed, we flipped through our handy dandy Rick Steve’s book to find out where to go. Dutch Flowers was closeby and recommended so we checked it out. Upon entering and sitting down at the counter we were immediately offered the cannabis menu. I didn’t mind since I was nervous about asking for it to begin with. We played it cool and were like«nah man, we’re good, we just want coffee»…and we kind of did. 2 coffees later we did request the cannabis menu. The menu had a plethora of options from what kind of joint you’d prefer to different levels of cannabis. It also had a space cake menu that we took advantage of. Please learn from our mistake. Dutch Flowers has some potent potable. Although 1 space cake(very thinly sliced and quite delicious) is enough for 1 person, I had 1⁄3 of it and I couldn’t move the rest of the night. We even purchased a roadie joint that we later chucked because we could barely handle the cake. Now we’re Americans, and cannabis is illegal where we live so it had been a long long time since we indulged. Our bodies just couldn’t handle the power of space. Regardless of the effect the cake had on us the rest of the day, the coffeehouse itself was quiet, chill, and smokey. And little dogs hung out in there which can make or break your high I suppose.

this was by far our favorite coffeeshop in amsterdam. really awesome music, great dim lighting; the lounge answer to the usual touristy coffeeshop. right next to Lungachino(best chai latte ive probably ever had) and Croissanterie(best sandwiches you can get, probably in the world). if you’re staying near Dam square, it’s even on the way to Leidse Square/Van Gogh if you take the bike/walk. i did not have a bad experience with the managers, as another rating suggested. i found them to be business-like, but not rude, and i suggest that this was probably something even lost in translation through the different cultures. the dutch are not as animated as, say, the french or spanish, or americans when they are trying hard, but they are very emotionally level and moderately nice– def would not say«rude»; they were actually nice enough to come up to me and tell me to watch out for pickpocketers, when i had my wallet on the table. great wears, great people-watching, excellently chill atmosphere and chill electrofunk music. highly recommended.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. If you don’t speak Dutch do not go here: the guy who usually works there, might be the owner hates foreigners. I used to live across Singel from here and the guys was always rude, petty and looked for any reason to start trouble. What an a hole! NEWSFLASH: if you don’t want foreign visitors don’t open a coffeeshop a block of Leidsestraat in the most touristy parts of the City!
