This Italian restaurant is perfect and we were lucky enough to stroll in without a reservation on a Friday night. It is local to where we live so I’m sure we will be back. I told the waiter, who was seemingly authentic Italian and singing quite a lot, that we would be back for the excellent Burrata mozzarella alone. The restaurant it’s self is not too big and off the square of Cornellius Schuyststraat on Willemsparkweg. This makes it just right in terms of intimacy and cosy — a colourful, warm but not over-the-top restaurant with a great menu. We had a bottle of the 2011 Montepulciano which was very good and about mid-range on their wine list. The wait staff seemed friendly, attentive and authentic and a lot of the people dining here seemed like regulars who were greeted with smiles and open arms and those that had booked for something special. For starters: I had the mozzarella burrata with balsamic vinegar, basil and pine nuts which melted in my mouth like butter off a hot knife and actually made my day. I got very excited about the rest of the meal from this point! My husband had the carpaccio with aubergine and grilled melon which he was also impressed with. Everything for main sounded amazing — it’s definitely the sort of place you go back to until you have had everything off the menu you like the sound of. My husband had the pasta al ragu and I had the filetto al barolo e tartufo which were both fantastic. My steak was perfectly balanced with grilled vegetables, melon and roast potato wedges and the meat was lovely medium rare and soft as I had wanted. We didn’t have time for dessert as we had to be somewhere else and this is not the sort of place you want to rush dessert! They had tiramisu and other fantastic options including caramel panne cotta but we had a quick Milano style double expresso and the bill. I can’t recommend this place enough. I am already planning my next trip back!

FABULOUS! We walked by Di Brunno on our first walk around Amsterdam and came back for dinner because we needed something close to the hotel after many hours of travel. On a Sunday night at 7pm we were seated right away. The best part was being served by Bruno the whole night! From what we could tell, Bruno serves everyone and only entertains using his staff occasionally. The most magnificent part of this meal was a homemade pappardelle with black truffle mushrooms tossed on top of a flame-melted Parmesan wheel. You have never seen anything like it. The grilled calimari, fish special, and antipasti was lovely as well. All in all a very good value for such a fantastic meal. Service isn’t the quickest, but it’s such an enjoyable experience you hardly notice. We’d absolutely recommend to anyone visiting– or living in– Amsterdam!
