Café Piazza

Wir haben für’s Abendessen ein Restaurant gesucht, das nicht von Rotlicht-​Touristen überlaufen ist und sind hier fündig geworden.
Pizza und Salat waren frisch, haben sehr gut geschmeckt und wurden schnell serviert.
Die Preise waren absolut angemessen und der Service wirklich auffallend nett und aufmerksam.
Hier würden wir auf jeden Fall noch einmal hingehen!

Nice place, great service. We had the lasagna and the ravioli with the creamy mushroom sauce, both very good. Big portions. Did not like the wine.

we were recommend to visit this place, and we were not dissappointed. really good pizzas, the garlic bread was a bit neutral (unfortunately no smelly breath afterwards):) but our waiter was nice!

My wife and I spent a week in Amsterdam in early September and we ate at a number of wonderful restaurants. This week, I am back for a business conference, and I have one free night to eat anywhere; my choice: Café Piazza! Tasty pizza, great pasta and incredible desserts! Tonight I had the Pizza Di Parma and the homemade tiramisu. Both were excellent. The vibe and service can’t be beat. Totally chill and very relaxing.

Oh I am rather disappointed. Especially considering the reviews that precede mine — clearly we had an off day.
Maybe that is down to the aimless wandering that preceded our dinner, or that I wasn’t really hungry, or maybe that I would’ve much preferred maybe Mexican or dutch food that night… who knows. We went in and were seated at a round table for four people. No effort was made to help us get the extra chair that we required as we were a party of five. The interior is nice, there is a mezzanine level, and has an almost intimate flair (ruined by loud people at adjacent tables).
It took the staff a long, long time to come over purely to order our drinks — mind you, I think the majority of us were rather indecisive when it came to choosing our food, but waiting around for such a long time did get old rather quickly.
I decided to order the pizza frommaggio — essentially a posh version of a margarita pizza because it has a mixture of Italian cheeses.
It was decent. I hated the base and the crust — usually the crust is what I enjoy most, and I will leave it to last, or in case I’m not able to finish the entire pizza, I will at least aim to eat the crust (this dates back to my childhood, where I would always eat my mothers pizza crust. She loves me). At la Piazza, however, there was no way I was going to eat the crust. It was terrible. It was thing but not crisp, it just wasn’t right. Nor did it taste like anything.
Carolyn E let me try some of her bread with garlic butter — there was no garlic in the butter, and there was a strange sweetness or some random spice that was strange.
I am sure that had I been in a mood for itallian food, or let alone any kind of food, this review might have gone differently. However, based purely on the waiting staff (key word here is waiting), and the chef (?) person who holds eye contact for just too long and the disappointing pizza, I’m not going to rush back when I’m back in Amsterdam.

Best meal I had in Amsterdam in the several days I was there. Cute, small restaurant close to Dam Square and central station. They had great food and a wonderful staff. I look forward to going back the next time I am in town. This is a must eat at restaurant!

Very pleased with our meal. Pizza and ravioli were great and hit the spot for our last night in Amsterdam. Was a little afraid of the «airplane food» review but found it not to be the case. Give this place a try!

These reviews cannot be accurate. This was like airplane food. Lovely location and great room and the service was alright but this was not a good meal. Wanted to like this place… :(

Loved this place!!! We were in Amsterdam for work and just happened to try this place. What a great find! Simple but excellent — the food was outstanding and the service was excellent. The owner stopped by several times to chat, and she was genuinely interested in making sure we had a great experience in her restaurant. I would highly recommend this place, and I will definitely come back. (Had a customized pizza — it was fabulous.)

Great food we ate the meat lasagna, mushroom chicken, and spaghetti bolognese. Everything was cooked perfectly. Great attentive service!

Draußen mit Blick auf Gracht, Irish Pub und Coffieshop oder drinnen im Erdgeschoß mit Kurzanbindung zum WC-​Bereich oder oben mit gutem Überblick. Im Piazza ist ein Mitteleuropäer auf Amsterdamtour gut aufgehoben. Dem deutschen Besucher eröffnet sich eine lesbare Speisekarte mit einem Preisnievau, welches durchaus auch in einer norddeutschen Großstadt Platz finden könnte. Pizza, Pasta, ein guter Hauswein, nette Bedienung und gezapftes Bier verbinden das international gemischte Publikum und lassen auch Kommunikation über Tischgrenzen hinweg möglich werden.
Für uns eine Insel in der Stadt, in der man neben überteuren Restaurants oft nur die Alternativer zu Friten mit Mettstangen hat.

Italienisch in Amsterdam ist ja auch nicht die Norm.
Ich hatte aber nun mal Hunger und platte Füße vom Rumlaufen und da boten die draußen stehenden Tische ein gemütliches Plätzchen zum Verweilen und ein Aushang mit Pizza drauf gab den Ausschlag.
Es gibt neben Pizza und Pasta, die lecker, aber nichts besonders ist, auch Bier in der richtigen Temperatur, was einem bei gutem Wetter auch was länger verweilen läßt.
Leute gucken lässt sich auf den Außenplätzen immer gut.
