I know by now to expect below par service in many Dutch places, but this place… they just really don’t care at all. We hung out there several times over the summer because the seating area by the canal is very nice. I tried a few of their snacks, chips, sandwiches… not even quite average. The sandwich was a piece of bread with cheese. The end. The chips were some Doritos from the bag. So, 2 stars it is! P. S. If you mainly want a good location by the water on a warm day and don’t mind waiting half your life for a drink, I do like the seating area a lot.

I know that many people throw around the term«Dutch Service» here on Unilocal and I wanted to provide my personal insight to this commonly used phrase. In my opinion… Dutch Service = We’ll get to your table when we can, but we won’t make it a priority. NOT Dutch Service = completely unnecessary bitchiness For the former, I have no problems with this. It’s definitely not like the bubbly American style service you get in the U.S. which can be annoying sometimes. It’s more like real and if you are nice, they can be nice back. Now for the latter — it just isn’t necessary so take your midol or don’t come to work! I LOVE the location of this place — sitting on the corner or a nice canal street, on pillows, enjoying a cool May Amsterdam breeze. Even better yet, getting a nice table along the water. Unfortunately, that’s spoiled when you dread having to place an order, provided you can get someone. Oh and best stick to beer and Doritos since the food sucks.
