Came here with my boyfriend and a friend of mine who lives in Amsterdam, and I gotta say that I’ll always trust his taste in bars because he’s never failed me. We came early enough to snag a table, but you should always definitely sit by the bar if you can because you can always ask the bartenders for suggestions. They have literally all the beers, but mostly in bottles and not on draft. The bar space is tiny, but pretty great place to just hang out with a couple of friends. It gets super busy and crowded, so definitely a place to come early and then enjoy the rest of the night comfortably in a space where you’ve been sitting. They have a big enough menu written on chalkboards and the menu is divided by the types of beers, so just pick a type of beer and then go with any of the ones they have on the board. I’d definitely come back here the next time I’m around– had a great time, wasn’t too loud, and the beers were amazing.

There is a pub cat and he is friendly! Need I say more? Ok for those not already rushing here because of the resident moggy, there is other reasons. This is a beer bar and very much focused on the Belgian style of brewing. That said when I asked the barman for a hoppy IPA he found me one that I had never tried before from a local brewery. Its quite a dark place and not huge in size, but it is very popular and you can definitely see why. It’s got tonnes of beer, a friendly bar man and did I mention the cat? If your on the hunt for craft beer in Amsterdam this is definitely worth a visit. I believe there is actually three golem locations but this is the only one we made it to.

Great place for good beer. Friendly locals and black cat. Had qwak on tap and the nice Gollem blonde beer. Had board games such as scrabble and cheese and chorizo plates for beer snacks — would highly recommend.

Hole in the wall where you def want to get your beer face on. Chill and dimly-lit. Its easy to miss, the bar space is tiny and the bathroom is tiny. The bartender is totally knowledgeable about beers… I heard him debating with some annoying Colorado shmuck. Hey American, shut your trap and stick to your Coors light.

I’m not enough of a beer geek to fully appreciate this place, but I went on the recommendation of someone who is, and he raved about it. The bartender was very friendly and helpful — if you are having a hard time figuring out what you want, he’ll steer you in the right direction. We visited twice. The second was on a Saturday night; it was busy and understaffed. That isn’t a reason to not go, but if it’s like that, you might want to skip if you’re on a tight schedule.

Tons of belgian beers available! There was a bar cat who was super cute and super friendly, greeting all guests. The bartender made good beer recommendations by asking a nice set of questions of which kind of beers I like. Free wifi.

Not bad for a Saturday night. It was packed to the rafters and there was a resident cat so I was happy, until I went to the bathroom, more about that later. There is a huge beer selection and it’s constantly being changed an topped up, the barmen will climb down a trapdoor in the middle of the bar while you’re there! The atmosphere was great, lots of young people drinking fancy beer and chatting about their Sex and The City-esque lives, probably. Then there was the bathroom… There was a centimeter of water on the floor and the bathrooms were two dodgy cubicles facing each other with a sink in between. Ew. It definitely cost this place a star.
