Wanted to get out of the touristy area and love the walk around the more residential part. Came across this place and looked like a nice neighborhood bar/restaurant. Great ambiance if you want to be where the locals hang out ! I came around supper time — so stared with the shrimp rolls — delicious — portion enough to share but I was alone so no problem finishing them off myself ! Followed that up with the salmon and grilled vegetables — also delicious — great friendly service with a nice local like ambiance

This is an excellent(non-touristy) place to go to eat, drink and sit outside on a nice day. The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is inviting and there is plenty to eat and drink. This bar also serves as a meetup spot for people so there it’s a diverse crowd. Do yourself a favor and order a hertog jan beer and a shot of jenever(essentially dutch gin) and you won’t look as much like a crappy tourist.

We had a view across the gracht of Vergulde Gaper for four nights in Amsterdam before we finally ventured in. It’s good that we waited because we never would have left and all five days would have disappeared in this perfectly gezellig spot. The frites were stand-out, the service reasonably attentive and good-natured about being conducted in English, and the vibe totally grooved with that relaxed café culture the Netherlands makes so appealing.

Nice bar, would have been nicer if service was better, but they were really crowded when we went, so it can happen. Food and drinks were OK, nothing great but neither bad.

I came by here to meet my Couchsurfing host, who worked in the kitchen. Since he was still busy working, I stopped to have something to drink and eat. It’s on Prinsenstraat, like 3 blocks north of the Anne Frank House. Easiest way I found was to get off at the Dam tram stop and just walk west like 4 canals. I had some large dutch beer of some sort, and a lemon meringue pie. The pie was pretty tasty and about 5 euro. The beer was 3 euro. Not too shabby! Service was quite good I think for Europe. Quite fast and responsive. And you can pay with card!

5 stars for the wonderful outdoor seating and great waiter. There is shade for almost every table. The club sandwich and buffalo mozzarella sandwich were good and fresh but nothin special. I would give the food a 3. Overall a nice place to stop for some refreshments and good people watching.

In a city where restaurant«service» is characterized by attitude or just plain indifference, the waitress here(didn’t catch her name unfortunately) really stood out. So pleasant, helpful, and really made sure our experience was a positive one. Had the pumpkin ravioli, fish soup, and burger. All 3 items were so tasty! I really wasn’t expecting it because I stopped here on a whim. The ravioli was perfectly al dente with a great mild pumpkin/rosemary flavor. The soup was paired with 2 slices of the softest bread — perfect for dipping. And the burger had great flavors, patty was thick and juicy, and the bun was soft in the middle with a great crunch on the outside. Washed it all down with a beer. Happy I found this place and had the opportunity to promote them with a solid review.

We noticed there’s not a lot of inventive for excellent service here in Amsterdam. We stopped by for dinner. The service was painful. The food as average. The prices were average. We really felt the quality and experience was just middle of the road. I ordered the burger. It comes with jalapeños and spices. I wanted just the burger. No spices. I had to sent it back twice. I also fully understand that special ordering is not the standard around here. My husband ordered the steak. It was over cooked. Good for drinks. Skip the food.

This cozy little bar serves appetizers and food up until 10 pm. They’ve got several beers on tap and a full bar. They also have a nice sound system pumping out upbeat music. This is what Amsterdammers call a «brown bar or restaurant» which literally translates to a «dive bar» though it’s really not, in the sense of what a dive bar is. Regardless, this bar sits on the Prinsengracht canal on Prinsestraat on a corner near a bridge south of the Anne Frank house. It’s got an outside area where you can sit next to the canal or next to the street and drink, eat or hang out. I like these kinds of places. You can have a drink, something to eat, have a nice conversation with a stranger, read a book or just chill.

Excellent pub/café in the Jordaan. Bartender is also server so things can get a bit busy(i.e. slow), but the service is friendly, and the food was tasty and good value. Ate here two nights a week ago. Menu is pretty creative for a pub with good daily specials.

I really like this spot. I have been here twice for dinner and once for lunch. And I will come back when ever I happen to be back. The first time I had the classic stomppot and bitterballen and both made me adore Dutch food(and lets be honest– the Dutch are not know for their food). The mustard they were served with was enough to make me want a straw. The second I had a beautiful sauted sole. The third I had a caprese panini and it was satisfying. One of my favorite things here besides the food is the ambiance. Somehow I’ve only found myself in AMS during the winter and this place is intimate, hip, and sexy. I could lounge for days.
