small little jem in the pijp. Great Sunday Jazz sessions & good food. Especially the mussels are great when in season (every month with a ‘r’) enjoy!

Very friendly and warm atmosphere. Very good prices and tasty menu. We felt very welcomed and didn’t feel pressure to leave. Definitely recommend if you are in the De Pijp area.

Attirée par les notes entendues en passant dans la rue, nous rentrons dans ce bar/​resto situé dans un bâtiment faisant l’angle.
Ici, un dimanche soir, des musiciens se réunissent pour y jouer des airs de jazz.
Ce bar a l’air vraiment familial tout comme l’accueil. Ça joue tard et les musiciens changent au cours de la soirée.
Sans prétention, cet endroit est parfait pour terminer la journée.

Great way to end the weekend and fall back into your Monday’s here. The thin crust pizza here is one of the best I’ve had in Amsterdam — mainly the Prosciutto pizza and I don’t even like prosciutto! And they have this amazing spicy olive oil that you can dip your pizza into to give it a little heat. The bar keeper is super friendly and will make you feel right at home here.

Kneipe direkt neben dem berühmten Straßenmarkt auf der Albert-​Cuyp-​Straat. Hier trifft man die Einheimischen und nach kurzer Zeit kommt man ins Gespräch. Gutes Bier, reiche Auswahl an Spirituosen. Es gibt auch Pizza usw., aber die Speisen habe ich nicht probiert. Das gut gezapfte Heineken und der «Oude Genever» waren gut, Wirt Rudi und die Gäste waren nett. Wer Amsterdam und seine Bewohner wirklich kennen lernen will sollte hier eintauchen, Humor haben und als «Gegenwehr» ein paar harmlose Witze über Holländer parat haben.
Übrigens legt Rudi gern richtig gute, ältere Rockmusik auf!

I discovered Café Punt on a Sunday when there is a jazz jam. It’s a friendly session which means most everyone that wants to play or sing is invited. This can be good and bad depending on the individuals self censorship.
The house band is quite good and there’s a variety of styles from funk, bebop, older show tunes and blues. On a couple of nights I heard a young saxophonist (maybe 12 – 14) and his younger violinist sister. It’s great to see young people encouraged.
I’ve eaten there twice (pizza and a vegetarian dish) and both meals were tasty and well priced. There’s a good beer selection and some nice seating outside.
I’m planning to go back.
