This is a cute little neighborhood pub with a cheers sort of vibe to it. The lighting inside is certainly dim at best but that’s what gives it some of it’s charm. I’m only giving it three stars at the moment though because the few times I’ve gone in for a drink the reception I’ve received was less than joyful. Now I certainly don’t need everyone to be beaming with happiness all the time but it helps A little when you’re in the service industry. If you want a quiet little place with casual ambience for a drink then this might be a good option.

Ever since I moved to the Jordaan area, I have been walking past Café De Blauwe Druif on my way to the central station. Every time I do so, I have noticed the interior of this traditional bar and imagined myself sitting inside, especially during the evenings. This past Sunday, I decided to finally go inside for a couple glasses of prosecco with my date. The cosy feeling is very hard to describe. It was great! The theme, I thought, tended to be towards transportation, what with a tire hanging from the ceiling along with various other props, including furniture. The bartender was a charming blonde lady, who just like her customers, was enjoying her drink with a smoke. Speaking of smoke, as with all traditional Dutch bars, make sure you don’t wear anything you don’t want to reek of cigarette smoke the next day. The bar was well stocked, and the music was awesome. The cosy and friendly vibe were reason enough for me to want to revisit this neighborhood bar again. The location is just the icing on the cake!
