I’d hate to say this because the girl who served me was super nice, but this place seriously had the worst bubble teas I’ve had in my life. I took one sip(OK maybe three) and threw it away. I had the original boba and that was super hard and flavorless, and the taro milk tea was extremely powdery and bland. I don’t know why, but there was also green powder residue in my drink… I was super disappointed because I had read great reviews prior to coming. Maybe they were just understaffed or something that day. Anyway, I think I’ll stick to Yoyo’s.

Eh not bad. I found this when I was walking around looking for the Albert Cuyp Market. I got the honeydew milk tea with lychee jelly and it tasted alright. Did the job and fit the description but wasn’t particularly exciting or anything. Then again, it’s not like there are that many options in Amsterdam so I probably shouldn’t be complaining. Place is real hip and trendy though.

I was skeptical by the look of this bubble tea place. It had this odd tacky logo. At least to my personal taste the logo was tacky. Not to mention how it creeped me out(I see now that they have changed it) But I didn’t want to judge a book by its cover. Friendly staff and great service so that made up a lot. Going there for a milk tea bubble tea? How about a no. A definite no. I was terrified to see that they were using a standard English tea that you find in the supermarket for my bubble tea. This put me off a lot. The taste of the milk was too strong so I felt like I was drinking milk with tapioca bubbles instead of milk tea with tapioca bubbles. It was not the most pleasant experience. All that I could taste was the milk. However, the taro and coconut bubble tea was good. I enjoyed it. I would suggest you go there for taro and coconut bubble tea but not the original standard milk tea. Because that would leave you feeling disappointed. Greatly disappointed.

Based on the great reviews, we headed here excited by the prospect of fresh bubble tea. I had the strawberry milk tea with strawberry popping boba. We were all in agreement that the drinks were far too syrupy and had an artificially sweet chemical taste. The mixture had also separated, making the texture unpleasant. Being such a big bubble tea fan, you’ll regularly find me at my local bubble tea bar in Glasgow. With hand-shaken drinks and milkshake-like perfection, it’s delicious and just how bubble tea should be. The bubble tea here couldn’t have been further from the delicious drink I first fell in love with. It didn’t taste milky in the least and the machine-shaken drink was far too frothy. We left disappointed. The novelty aspect of bubble tea doesn’t have to make for overpriced, subpar drinks. — Tempo Tea Bar in my hometown is testament to that, and nothing’s come close as of yet!

Where I come from(the Philippines), bubble tea, milk tea, rock salt and cheese, hot, cold drinks with taro and tapioca are the most common pastime drinks(or even snacks, depending on the taro or tapioca content). So when my husband and I came across this place near Albert Cuypstraat, we just had to try it. 3 euros for small 3.50 euros for medium drinks are reasonable prices. The owner takes his time explaining the drinks and how you combine the different elements if you are not familiar with the drink. I had the green tea with honeydew and tapioca. But I think the milk tea and the yoghurt drinks are better. Hopefully, these types of drinks will catch up here in Europe! Please add rock salt and cheese drinks to your menu :)

Bubble Tea Bar is a new place in Amsterdam to get your bubble tea. If you haven’t heard of this drink before; this is a tea based cold drink, which you can get in several(often fruity) flavours and it contains jelly pearl-like balls(the bubbles). These balls are made of a sort of gummy bear-like texture, or nata de coco or popping boba(balls filled with fruity liquid). When you drink the tea you feel the little balls in your mouth and throat which is quite a strange and fun sensation. Bubble tea is very popular in Asia and has been quite popular there for a while now. Only recently it came to Europe and still many people have not heard from it yet. Lately, a few new spots opened in Amsterdam, where you can get your bubble tea. Bubble Tea Bar, located in the Ferdinand Bolstraat, next to the Albert Kuyp market is one of them and opened very recently. If you have tried the bubble tea in the Kalvertoren, at Little Tea House, and you liked it, I am sure you must love the bubble tea at Bubble Tea Bar. I think it is much better! You can choose if you would like a green tea based drink, or maybe milky tea, of coconut milk(there are a few more choices) and then you can choose a flavour. I choose passionfruit. I had my bubble tea with popping boba in mango flavour. The bubble tea was very good! The green tea made it very fresh. The price was also very good. 3 euros for a small, and 3,50 for a medium. Very reasonable! The little bar looks cool. It isn’t to big but I think that there is enough space inside to seat around 12 people? The owner is also very friendly. I will definitely come back! :) I think bubble tea is a perfect summer drink!
