The food is great and the staff is super nice. The bartender gave us a ton of advice on things we were talking about doing. Everyone that came in to pick up lunch seemed to be a regular so they’re Doing something right for sure. Such a nice place to take a breather and have lunch. a little less crowded than your standard lunch spot, so good place to stop in for a quick bite.

Always love coming here. Good normal café for normal people and that is pretty extraordinaire.

Actually, mankind is kinda great. It’s full of real, Dutch people! Which is amazing considering it’s central location. They serve typical Dutch deep-friend nonsense, which pairs well with beers. Super casual and laid back.

I’d read about this gay-friendly café on several websites before visiting Amsterdam. It’s a quiet spot on a canal a short walk away from the the Museum Quarter. I stopped by after spending one morning at the Rijksmuseum. Lunch, a smoked salmon sandwich with salad, was delicious, the price reasonable for this expensive city, and the bartender/server was delightful. He encouraged me to come back for the daily dinner special, but when I did, the place was packed. I definitely plan to return, though, whenever I’m in Amsterdam again.

Sometimes, you just want to have a very good time drinking and dining the fast way with friends before you head out for more fun into the evening. At those times, you also want to stay around the vicinity of Amsterdam’s many ‘entertainment areas’ without getting overrun by tourists and the subsequent high prices. Mankind is your place. While I have never had anything to eat here apart from the snacks, they do have quite a versatile menu. I figure the owners are Italian, so having a good food menu is sort of a given. The drinks just keep flowing here. The interior is very nicely done, if you can find place to sit down on a Friday evening! The upside of the location on the canal also means that given favorable weather you get a nice view and expansive terrace for free. Bar service is quick and comes with complementary smiles. It’s always good to interact with other bar patrons as it tends to be mostly a very international crowd with all the multinational companies nearby. If you want to be in Leidseplein for a few drinks without ‘actually’ being there, this is your spot. Buy me a couple drinks while you’re at it, too!
