Friendly italian staff! Fresh grilled vegetables and some nice pastry. I love the lemonpie with a nice lungo. The atmospere at this location in this busy street is great. Feels like i moved for 20 minutes to Italia. Prego!

I currently work close to Dam square and even though it’s the most busiest spot of Amsterdam with lots of food and beverages all around you, it’s extremely difficult to find a proper place where you can get good and affordable coffee(other than Coffee Company and Starbucks). This morning before work I quickly hopped in this little store and got myself a coffee. Italian flavors were guaranteed. Nice guy working there and price was definitely appropriate. Good place when you quickly want to have a shot of caffeine. They also serve ice cream and sandwiches.

This is a great spot close to my university. It is Italian and they have real Italian coffee, cookies and pastries and delicious sandwiches. You can sit in, take out or enjoy a quick espresso while standing(like the Italians do it, and I usually do it as well because I am usually in a hurry :)) The coffee is good and the cookies and croissants are yummy. Prices here are fine and service is fast. It is a great for lunch and usually there is enough room inside to sit down, most people here come for take-away. It can be pretty crowded sometimes but because the service is fast, don’t let this scare you away. This place is across the pastry/lunch spot De Laatste Kruimel and I feel like a lot of people don’t notice Assaggio because they are staring at the delicious stuff at the neighbours, but since de Laatste Kruimel is often very busy and filled with people, try Assaggio for a change.

Just came back from Amsterdam, where my family and I discovered Assaggio. Genuine, tasty food which is not super expensive. We tried the grilled Panini, the lasagna and the cakes with cappuccino. Good food in a quiet and yet popular area of town.

I love the panini sandwiches here. Assaggio is located in a skinny alley behind the Diamond Factory near Rokin, so it’s a bit of a tucked away secret. I love to go here on a sunny day, grab a sandwich and sit by the docks and enjoy it in the sun. They have a huge menu of panini sandwiches that are made to order, and there is no trouble swapping an ingredient here or there. There’s also a big selection of Italian treats and desserts but I haven’t had the chance to try any myself yet. I usually order a pollo panini, which comes with kipfilet, fresh lettuce, mayonaise, and a dash of peper and olive oil on white or wheat. The fresh ingredients make for an awesome taste. It’s a little small if you want to go and sit inside, only a few table and usually several people coming in and out to get food to go. Like I said, grab a sandwich and walk 50 meters to the dock and sit there — it’s a great way to enjoy these fine sandwiches.
