Beautiful 5 course dinner here. Such a shame that this place is closing. Each course was artfully crafted, used unique ingredients, and was well proportioned. We especially loved the raw herring course and the pâté starter. Multiple staff members came over to ask about our meal and that was a nice touch as well.

This was one of our favorite meals when we traveled through Europe. Lovely restaurant right on the canal with spectacular food and service. Such a shame that it is closing!

Was initially thinking of giving it a 2 stars only, but let’s give them the correct credit, mostly due to their great staff and the fresh ingredients used. The restaurant itself is small, located by the Amstel, perfect area for Summer I would say, when you are able to eat in the terrace. One could say that the menu is very limited and another could argue that it is the Chef’s choice to have little options but with quality ingredients. I hang in the middle. I still think they could offer more. It is also quite pricey, so prepare to spend more than 50.00 per person, which reminds me to advise you to chose the combined menu they have for 49.00(exclusive drinks). The interior is decorated in a very alternative way, which somehow still gives it a cozy atmosphere. What impressed me here was the service, the staff was very friendly, kind and proactive. For me this is the kind of place that you go once(because apparently it is a fancy place) and that is it.

Must say it is hard to beat this restaurant. Ambiance a 10, location is awesome. On the Amstel river. Crazy about the way Joris Vermeer and Yvette van Boven cook. Very addictive. Great staff in general. Have them choose the wine for each dish. Start of with 6 Oysters, the a Flamekuche. A fabulous pulled pork sandwich. And finish of with the rib-eye. Well that is what I had the last time I ate there. Just thinking about it makes me hungry and going to make a new reservation right now. Killer Negroni’s too. I personally think you have never really eaten until you have eaten at Aan de Amstel. Ok ok that might be a bold statement, but the experience is great food and atmosphere wise.

When I was a kid, this was a quite crappy snackbar. I didn’t recognise the place when me and my friend came here to get some lunch! The interior is fantastic; creative(with lots of weird lamps), stylish but still cozy. The food is delicious and really freshly-baked. I remember my friend eating an enormous plate of something with beans that came with very nice sourdough bread. I had a slice of fruitpie and we both drank a glass of fresh orange juice that makes you feel like the healthiest person alive. If we were rich, we’d have breakfast here every morning! Aan de Amstel is located by the Amstel rivier(really) in an area of Amstel called ‘Oost’ = East. It’s a non-touristic but nice, real neighbourhood. When you go further, you will find the Tropenmuseum and the Dappermarket.
