Blunderbuss

I had no idea that Nick Honeyman (The Commons, Everybody’s Izakura) was the executive chef at this pizza joint. How does he find the time?!
Anyway…Blunderbuss is a decent alternative from the usual BYO dinner with a large group of friends. There is plenty of long tables with bench seats, the waitstaff are relaxed and unintrusive and obvi, they serve pizza, which is potentially the most convenient (and arguably best tasting) finger food around.
As far as their pizzas go, they are pretty good — thin crust and crispy — but I did find the toppings were rather sparse. Don’t get me wrong, I am a minimalist with it comes to pizza toppings but this was next level. Particularly on the Margarita, where the toppings only came about ²⁄₃ of the way out from the centre.
When we went, the service on the night was seamless — although we were rather preoccupied catching up with each other.
Looking forward to trying their Takapuna location soon!
