The staff was mostly helpful and mind. The room was clean and completely adequate except that the air conditioning was actually heat. I didn’t acknowledge this reality until waking up in a true sweat the second night. The housekeeping staff started vacuuming the hallway around 8am which was too early for my taste and time zone adjustment. The housekeeping staff seemed poorly trained because they did not replace items like wash cloths, towels, laundry bag replacements, and room service ordering cards. They wouldn’t throw out room service food unless I put it in the trash. The laundry service was absolutely excellent although pricey. I didn’t know my clothes could actually be this clean. I decided not to bring my hairdryer and that was a mistake. Even in 1975 I had a better hairdryer. The location of the hotel is what gives it the boost from 2 stars to 3. It is conveniently located in the heart of Zona Rosa near good food and nightlife(and the campus where I took a class). And despite the location(dancing, bars, lots of nightlife) I was able to sleep just fine. It’s a Best Western brand and it was perfectly adequate but not the type of hotel I am used to.

This is the best western in Zona La Rosa and is walking distance from the Reforma district. I prefer to stay in Reforma district but could not get a reservation so decided to give this place a try. A solid 2.5−3 stars and has some good and some not so good things going for this BW outfit. The good part first. Location and price aren’t bad. Don’t miss going to the top level and enjoy the open-sky pool and a modest bar. In fact, the gym and spa are also at the same level — and the gym has a great view of the city. An extra star for just that. Gym was quite functional — had one of each equipment: treadmill, reclining bike, stepper, free weights, bench, and a universal machine. The bench declines — good for some of you! Towel stack was not great and can’t vouch for the water cooler, so get your face towel from the room and bring your own bottled water. All the equipment worked and was in good shape. Couldn’t figure out if the Gym had AC. They have restaurant at the lower level — I enjoyed my breakfasts here — the usual vegetarian fare — nothing spectacular but the service was good. Thought the place was a bit pricey for a Best Western. The not so good part now. The rooms were clean but very modest and the carpets and the blankets were seriously worn out. The bathroom was small and shower was very weak and finicky and it was tough to get the temperature right. My room’s Heating and Cooling unit was not fully functional. Inspite of cranking it up, felt cold in the night(they don’t have comforters and only offer blankets). The air coming out from the vent also felt cold. Fortunately, ambient temperatures during my stay was near perfect — so this was not a big bother except for cold in the night. The sink drain was veeerrrrry slow, almost clogged, and clearly needed attention. The bed was as hard as a rock. The pillows were smallish and also quite hard. On the whole, good value if you are on a budget. Otherwise, try a place in the Reforma area.
