i stay in Santa Fe, d.f. maybe 3 – 5 times per year. this is the first time i have stayed at the JW Marriott. it’s a top notch hotel, with a very comfortable Executive Lounge on floor 14. the roofed deck of the Executive Lounge extends a wonderful view, too and the lounge offers a varied buffet. the petit pan au chocolat and croissants are exceptionally good. the business center is open 24 hours, a plus. the rooms are large and well appointed, and the entire hotel has a big feel to it. part of that is due to the unique architectural feature of glass walls on the exterior hallways, so everywhere you look gives you a beautiful vista out and over Santa Fe. can’t wait to return to this hotel. it’s a delight to stay here.

The hotel is nice enough for Mexico City, but I had a huge problem when staying here while traveling on business from New York. I arrived at my hotel room fairly late in the evening only to discover the door ajar and the coffee and water bottles strewn around in the mini bar area. I called the hotel desk to say there was clearly a mistake in booking my room and express that I felt unsafe there. I had guessed the cleaning service had just forgotten to clean the mini bar location and had mistakenly left the door ajar when leaving, but it did not make me feel any more comfortable in the hotel or with their staff. Instead of switching my room, when security came up, they inserted a reader into the card slot in the front door and took it downstairs to see who had accessed the room previously. I informed them I was concerned people had raided the mini bar and did not want the charges that they incurred. One hour later, they called me in the room only to tell me I would be forgiven of the mini bar charges. I never found out who accessed my room, but at that point I was too tired to inquire and fell into an uneasy sleep. My colleagues did not have similar issues and had nothing to note about their rooms. I’m not sure if it was sloppiness on the part of hotel security or ineptness of the hotel cleaning staff, but the foremost goal of a hotel should be to make guests feel at their most comfortable away from home(especially in a notoriously high-crime locale like Mexico City). This goal was clearly not accomplished during my stay here.

Gorgeous hotel in the Santa Fe area of Mexico City. Our company had an annual conference here and everything was hi-tech. The elevators and rooms had keys you tapped as opposed to the slot insert. The lobby is very well decorated and the outside had a nice huge fountain. The conference rooms were large and can fit hundreds that would also make great banquet halls with the large chandeliers. The rooms themselves are spectacular as the bathroom has a nice shower and soaker tub. Oh they also have Nespresso in the room as opposed to that crappy coffee other hotels give you. As for food — they have Cua and Quattro. Both are excellent. Cua’s breakfast buffet is spectacular but maybe not for vegetarians as there is a lot of meat. Name a meat they have it. They also had lots of fruits and pastries too. What’s good about it is they change it up everyday. The fresh juice is refreshing too. I really liked the Green juice. Yes, that’s what it is called. It’s a mixture of cactus, orange, apple and other stuff. My only complaint is the Wi-Fi. It’s very slow and disconnects every few hours. Verdict: this is a great hotel and would be five stars but if you are serving business people, you need better Wi-Fi.
