Hakka food is something like a specialty cuisine, Chinese food but served in a different way. They serve dim sum for tea and it was a pleasure to take part in this type of fare during the wee hours of the afternoon in an air conditioned place, unlike the kopitiams outside where you sit by the roadside or have servers bump into you tirelessly carrying wooden baskets of delicacies. Here, the yum cha selection is also quite huge with all kinds of fried dim sum like fish balls, yam cake, dumplings filled with vegetables, stuffed eggplant and also steamed varieties like th glutinous rice, fish balls, beancurd rolls and lotus lead rice. The dim sum is available from 10:30 am to 12 pm and yet again at 3pm to 6 pm so you can have it for brunch or tea time. I enjoyed the beancurd rolls as they are well steamed and full of ingredients. In addition, we also had porridge since we want to save stomach space for dinner later so we tried the scallop pork porridge that is the watery kind where the rice is boiled till it breaks down and is easily digested. The scallop was enough to add flavor to the broth and so was fragrant. This place might look expensive on the outside but is really quite affordable and you get really good food with excellent service.
