Unfortuneately, Jet and his partner have closed the doors of Maloti, probably the finest gourmet balti house in the city to make way for the permanent fixture of Crack Bird, Jo Burger’s chicken pop up experiment.

Aw lads I hate dropping stars BUT if you say, «You want it very spicy Maam?» «Oh yes very spicy, please!» «Are you sure? Very spicy?» I hesitated for a moment at the thought of nerve damage but the stubborn competitive mule looked at my companions mocking eyes and smugly smiled, «Yes very very very spicy.» My go to dish is always chicken saag, boring perhaps but I know what I like and I love chicken saag. Portions were perfect. Service was great. House white was just the right side of dry. Perhaps all my ab fab style boozing has deadened my taste buds because I did not whimper with any spark of spice. That was so very disappointing. On the plus side my companion thought I was so freak of nature eating nonchalantly without over heating. Mint tea to finish, very cute presentation but it really didn’t taste like mint… Dear Lord, maybe my taste buds are on the way out.

This is the only Indian restaurant I’ve been to in Dublin — the food was delicious and spicy. It seemed a bit expensive, but it was the first meal out I’d had in Dublin, so it’s all relative; the prices are probably par for the course.

I love and eat Indian cuisine almost twice a week, so I was hoping for the best here. I mean, from the outside it doesn’t look like it would be authentic but then again Momma always said something about judging the cover of a book(yes, I know the saying. I was kidding). The outside is all fancy and shiny. The inside is modern, fresh, has beautiful warm colors, and a few paintings. Plus, everything is absolutely spotless! Once inside you’re warmly greeted and seated. The staff has this smile as thought they actually like working there. Though a warning, they will feed you till your buttons burst off… which isn’t a bad thing. As for the food… now this is what I’m talking about! This has to be the first time I’ve ever had Indian with a bold modern flair. Everything about Maloti is creative and the food is designed on your plate like a piece of art. Each bite is heaven, I wanted to eat more but it wouldn’t fit. The portion sizes are huge! Highly recommend Chicken Jalfrezi –spiced with onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, coriander & capsicum. Chicken Tikka Masalla –Chunks of chicken(white meat) roasted and folded into cream curry sauce. Palok Paneer Chaap –Spinach gently spiced with Indian cottage cheese, fresh coriander, cummin, deep fried. Vegetable Pakora –assorted deep fried vegetables(sounds bad but is very good). Garlic Naan –of course you have to get naan and their naan is awesome. Everything was impressive and more importantly tasty. I will be coming back. Check out their lunch special for only 5.95 euro(one course), 8.45 euro(two courses and a coffee).

This place has swung the vote for me in the Indian VS Chinese food debate that comes up from time to time… this place kicks ass to any other Indian place I have eaten in a long long time. The food is absolutely delicious(in particular the gosht biryani and lamb pasanda) and more than plentiful. Add onto that the fact that their service is swift, efficient and friendly. Their pricing is very good also, averaging € 15 for a main course. And they serve food up until 12 I think, which is yet another bonus! Wonderful.

I’ve been visiting Maloti regularly now for a couple of years, which I think is testament in itself. No matter what time of day, or what the occasion it’s a fabulous place to visit if you like Indian food, and you like to dine in a nice atmosphere. Or indeed if you are new to Indian cuisine then this is the place to visit. The staff, are both extremely courteous, friendly, and helpful. Service is second to none. The food is always prepared and served to perfection, and no matter how busy it is, always arrives to the table in brilliant time. The restaurant itself is deconrated to a high standard and has a nice open feel which adds to the atmosphere. They also have a number of fantastic early bird specials each day, for the thrifty amongst us!

I came here for my birthday this year, probably because I sit across the road at the Metro Café almost every day smelling the deliciousness and getting curiouser and curiouser. The prices were more than reasonable, the menu is excitingly extensive(if not a little confusing, as it’s done by region) and the food was quite delicious, one notch at least above your standard Indian fare. The service is impeccable, especially in the price bracket, attention is lavished on you at arrival, your coats are taken and they give you those cool little mints with your bill. So, four stars for a great dining experience, the only bad thing I think I can say is that the décor isn’t exactly to my taste inside, but who the heck am I? I’m not sure why I can’t give it five stars, I just know I wouldn’t feel right about it.

Really, really fantastic indian food. Went out to dinner there last night with two extremely hungry coworkers; we ended up ordering € 110 of food(although how, I have no idea — the portions were gigantic and the prices were quite reasonable) and stuffed ourselves full of it. It was fantastic and my only regret was that we couldn’t finish all of it. The food was fantastic. I will definitely come here again.

A fresh new take on an old classic, Maloti exterior façade could be mistaken for a classy contemporary italian restaurant, inside the staff are welcoming and friendly, the décor is modern and clean. The menu was large containing all the usual classics and some speciality dishes too. The food was very well presented, it arrived quickly and was hot(temp), it tasted very nice.

Voll verdiente 4 Punkte!
