Lovely little café, the outside area is heated and doesn’t feel like your on the footpath of a relatively busy street. Staff are alway friendly and considerate even if your just popping in for a quick coffee

The Metro Café is truly a gem amongst the overwhelming amount of restaurants in Dublin City. This petit Parisian style café serves some of the tastiest dishes I’ve come across with a particularly keen eye for good breakfast dishes. Upon my most recent visit, I indulged in their buttermilk pancakes, served with a side of crispy bacon and honeybutter. A delicate combination of sweet and savoury that works well and at a very affordable price. Before that, u had the pleasure of ordering their breakfast sandwich which consisted of bacon, peppered sausage, egg and Ballymaloe Relish all in a Waterford Blaa. It’s quickly become my regular go to for an early morning snack and that, coupled with the ever friendly staff, have allowed Metro Café to become a part of my daily itinerary. Definitely worth a trip if you’re flying around the south side

A nice spot to people watch on a warm day. The metro is always packed. And that’s a good sign for a café. The coffee is ummmmm, standard. A few doors down and you’ll find better.

Pros: — I got the scrambled eggs with toast and sausage. The sausage was perfectly cooked, with a crispy casing and juicy(not oily) inside. — The scramble was solid and paired nicely with the toast and relish. — The staff are all friendly and the vibe is cozy in the café. I also like that the menu doesn’t have too many items as that’s always a worrying sign. Cons: — It’s a little tightly packed in there so your privacy will be limited — They forgot to bring us back change but we were ok leaving the 3 euros as tip

Stopped by for a quick munch. The café was jammers! I had the pancakes and a latte, we were there for all of 30 minutes. Staff were polite and friendly. I would only go back if stuck for places to go to in town.

I don’t recommend this place for it bad customer service. I went there in one of the days around christmas(when a local its so popular should be prepared for this) anyways, our waitress was impolite, since we arrived there she seemed to have a problem with our english which is stupid according that Dublin it’s pretty touristic, I’ve ordered their pancakes and asked for a portion of fruits, she told me that it was ok and then I got COMPOTE? WTF? i’ve told to the waitress(other one) to change it, she said ok and never came back until she bring the bill. Also, I’ve added an extra of whipped cream and it was fresh cream(without whipped), as extra: food portions are pretty small

One of my favourite cafes in Dublin. Really good cakes and a great all day brunch with pancakes. Good value and a great people watching spot. Grab and outdoor seat and watch the world go by! The apple and blueberry crumble is so good too. Get them to serve it warm with cream and drizzled with raspberry sauce. Enjoy!

Came across here after wondering around the street. I can’t speak for the food but it does look good and the mulled wine was great for 5 euros. Service was good. Reason for the 2⁄5? Me and a friend are visiting tourists, and are relying on wifi for navigation and communication. We asked for wifi since we aren’t familiar with the city. The host or waiter who ushered us in from the street was very rude when we asked if they had wifi, his loud response was«We don’t have wifi sorry, want to know why? –Long staring pause– Because we actually talk to each other here.» with condescending laughter from the others in the café. I know it must be a pain having tourists asking for wifi but honestly could do without your condescending attitude and rude assumptions. Left a bad impression on us but we stayed anyways. You know I’m sure most of your income, comes from annoying tourists like us at least fake your contempt.

Such a lovely, lovely spot. There’s a really nice atmosphere created by the very friendly staff, and the place kind of has a cool American diner feel to the place. Delicious coffees and tasty food also :)

Nice cosy place for breakfast. There are a lot of seatings both inside and outside. Service was good, staffs were very pleasant. I ordered myself a smoked salmon bagel that came with either coffee or tea for € 11.50. Nothing too special, thought the eggs could use a little bit more seasoning and was slightly over thus it was slightly too dry for my liking. Portion size were decently big and price was rather decent. Perfect for a quick breakfast if you’re rushing for time. Lovely place.

This café is such a staple in my life that I had almost forgotten to review it. It is one of those places that, for me, holds so many memories it seems almost a part of me. I would say that goes for a lot of Dubliners. Going to Metro Café as a teenager I felt so sophisticated and worldly; sitting outside, sipping a coffee, imagining I was in some French new wave film. This sunny South Westerly facing corner is great place to watch the world go by and contemplate life. If the sun isn’t heating you the blankets and heat lamp will. The staff our friendly and attentive. The food, well, I don’t think I have ever gotten anything other than toasted sandwiches here but they are delicious. I can’t think of anywhere better to meet a friend on a sunny afternoon in Dublin.

Always busy and not just because they have a great city center location. The food is actually pretty good and the service is consistently decent as well. They also have some nice outdoor seating to sit down, eat some food, and check out some of the foot traffic that walks past.

So I know I’m a little late to the picnic reviewing this staple of South William Street but I had a wonderful afternoon in the sunshine dining here and wanted to share. This place is very busy so it was a rare occasion for me that I got a seat outside in the sun with ease. The staff are so helpful and friendly and if you look at the pic I uploaded it was a no brainer what I ordered off the menu. Delish Buttermilk fluffy pancakes(Golden syrup which I personally dislike optional) Cripy bacon, Loads of fluffy scrambled eggs and to top it off ballymaloe relish. Just all general deliciousness. and for the amazing price of € 7.95 which is a rare find in the ol expensive eateries around Dublin especially on the charasmatic South William Street. I wopuld definitely recommend this place in very high regard for Breakfast/brunch/lunch!

This was my first meal stop on my Ireland vacation with my college roommate and I must say I was not disappointed. We were shopping locally and came in for brunch. I ordered a hot chocolate, pancakes, eggs and bacon. And the pile of bacon I received was huge. lol I couldn’t even finish it all and I love bacon. The hot chocolate was very tasty as well. Our server was nice and the price was reasonable. My only gripe is that she seemed to want to clear us from our table pretty quickly after our meal and it’s not like it was very busy so that was strange. Overall this place is worth a visit.

This place was pretty average at best. I found it quite cramped inside and really packed on a Saturday, but the staff were quite friendly and efficient despite the café being so busy. The food was pretty decent, I ordered the smoked salmon salad and my mom got the buttermilk pancakes which ok, nothing special. However, they burnt one side of the pancakes which wasn’t good. The prices are really reasonable, around € 8~11 per meal. There’s also a decent wine list. I’d say this café is better on sunny days when you can sit outside. Overall, reasonably priced breakfast/lunch spot with quick service and a good selection of sandwiches, salads and mains.

Good place to sit for a cup of coffee and watch the foot traffic pass by. During summer it can be extra crowded for tables, as this is right in central south Dublin. Sandwiches and desserts are great too, so if you get hungry watching people or walking, you can find satisfaction in this establishment. During evening they start catering wine, beer and food — which makes it a good place to meet up with friends or a second date.

I don’t know how I have never reviewed Metro Café before considering how often I’ve been over the years. This is a really busy spot and one of my favorites in the city for people watching. There are loads of spaces outside, however, they can be hard to get. Inside is very cosy… but great during the winter for a comforting cup of coffee. The coffee is pretty good and the carrot cake is gorgeous. I don’t often eat here, but the food is of a pretty good standard.
