This restaurant has the best coffee, they beat Starbucks(my old coffee place), Dunkin Donuts, coffee places in Manhattan and other places I’ve tried. But I didn’t come here for coffee. We came here for lunch because they have some pretty desirable lunch specials. To enjoy lunch specials, you have to eat-in. Hubby took home some food from here for me to try before and I approved! Now is the time to eat-in. The interior decoration is very lovely in the back dining room. The front is a pizza place. Inside the restaurant is dining area like a café place you dine in those little Italian cafes. Very nicely done. We ordered lunch specials. Lunch comes with soup and salad awesome! I shot photos here and there at the beginning but then forgot about the food. Oh well, you see the leftover shells from my mussels! *:)~ yum yum! That’s what I had, with no spaghetti nor pasta. Hubby had chicken scarpariello. Both dishes were delicious. I’ve tried fruitti di mare(to go) from here, it was delicious too but I plan to try it here instead of to go because food tastes better when you dine a restaurant than having it to go. When you order from lunch specials, you get coffee and dessert too. So I had my Italian cheesecake with coffee yay! But we shared the cake so no fat, don’t worry, don’t panic, I’m not obese!

This pizzeria/restaurant has been a local ‘Friday evening and not wanting to cook anything’ kind of place. Having lived in the neighborhood for over 15 years, this is our go-to take out pizzeria as it is one of the better ones in the area in my opinion. The food here is always quality and enjoyable and everything we have ordered has been up to our pizza ‘standards.’ The workers here have always been friendly and it is also a good idea to order ahead as they do tend to get pretty busy so it will save you some time waiting when you are there. Overall, the prices are fair, food is good and workers are friendly. I would recommend popping in here if you are looking for a quick bite for dining-in(the front) or take-out and I am sure the full dinner menu in the back is also good(I have never been for this). Buon appetito.

I like this place. It’s convenient and the price is right. This place is one of the few pizzaria left that make pizza the way it should be. Service can be better, only reason this place is not getting a 5 star.

Don’t come here if you’re asian; unless you want to feel like you have 2 heads and you’re from enemy territory. The waiter was the most hostile I have ever had. How dare a couple of Asian upstarts dare to eat Italian food? Unthinkable! A real shame because the food is actually good and reasonably priced.

Positano is perfect and unpretentious. If you want authentic and truly delicious Italian at reasonable prices you will want to try Positano. Our family religiously orders from this place every week or at least 3 times a month. We adore their filet of sole francese. The sauce is a great balance of lemon and butter– The fish always fresh. We love their chicken sorrentino layered with prosciutto, eggplant and mozzarella. The tripe here is fantastic. It is so tender it actually melts in your mouth! The eggplant parm and the seafood platter are also delectable choices with generous portion sizes. We love the pasta and house salad here as well. You can choose between the two as a side to your entrée. The food here is fresh and full of flavor. It is consistently good. The dining room is always a tight squeeze so we prefer take out but the few times we have dined in, the service was always very good.

Delicious foooooood! And they feed you like it’s the last supper. I’ll be coming here much more often. Friendly staff as well.

Why You’ll Be Pleasantly Surprised by Positano: 1) You’ll find a pizza take out joint in the front and kid friendly Italian restaurant in the back. 2) Bread basket filled with focaccia and dinner rolls. 3) They do NOT skimp on the garlic. 4) The thin«personal» sized pizzas were a good size and you can request a wheat crust. The veggie pizza was pretty good despite the dry wheat crust. 5) This local business has been around for over 20 years! 6) There’s an HMart next door(Asian grocery store).

Food is delicious and the service is outstanding! Our go to Italian restaurant! The waiter Carlo takes care of us everytime we walk in. He knows our bottle of wine and my favorite dish. Always recommends a great special for my boyfriend and it’s always on point! We go at least once a month and I look forward to it.

I have patronized Positano for many years and always found the food good. My husband and I are«regulars» at the restaurant since renovation on our house makes it impossible to eat home. We recommended dinner there to friends who we met there on a Saturday nite and ordered a substantial meal. As soon as we finished we were«asked» to leave to «free up table» for other customers. Dinner there is not pizza store prices and I feel that the management should never tell customers to leave on a Saturday nite after eating a full meal to free up table. Extremely insulting. My friends were upset and we also would never patronize this restaurant again.

Four days later after the last review and we are in the dining room trying the sit down meal. Watching the meals come out to other patrons it is apparent that the portions are very large. Some of the items which are available for take out are not on the menu, but you can still have them in the restaurant if you ask the waiter. The food as follows: Fried Capallini Appetizer from the front take out area — according to G and the other D, it was as delicious as the previous time it was ordered. They serve it with warm marinara. House salads all around the table and they were fresh with such a variety of colorful vegetables. Nice ripe tomatoes, cucumbers and a pickled vegetable assortment of beans, cauliflower and olives. House dressing is not to be passed up. Everyone loved it on the salad. Bread basket was full of the garlicky bread sticks and hot rolls. Eggplant Rolotini– bring your appetite or a person to share this with as it is a monster portion. Four huge pieces delivered to the G, two pieces came home for lunch tomorrow. Chicken Parmesan — Lightly battered and crispy, this plate of food again was a monster appetite portion. It had the perfect amount of mozzarella and sauce. It was not my order, but all I can say is the other«D» was sopping up the remainder of the sauce with bread. There was nothing left on the plate. Chicken Marsala-lightly breaded, tender and floating on a bed of mushrooms and the extra mushrooms on top for extra mush-roominess. It was delightful, but again, enough to share. Half if the dish made it home in the doggie bag, Apparently there was a special dish tonight that is only made once a month or so. For the life of me can’t remember what it was called, it was veal or lamb, ugh, my apologies, but, customers put their name on a list to be called when this dish is made at the restaurant. When we finished and gave up our table to the next hungry bunch, there was not a table open and the volume was more boisterous. Good food and good wine can lead to great conversations. I did make a visit to the bathroom. It was a bit tiny, no changing table for a baby so that might be a problem for a family with a small child. It also would not be wheelchair accessible. The bathroom was bright, clean and fresh and clearly well monitored by the employees. So I think I am done with the Italian theme this week, but this is a definite come to again place.

Came here tonight and honestly couldn’t decide which dish to get, all the chicken dishes sounded amazing. However, you don’t see tripe very much but ever more rare in Long Island so I had to go for it. It was really good! We also got the seafood platter and the chicken with sausage and peppers. The portions were huge, definitely order with the intention to share at the table. Don’t let the pizza storefront fool you… Tony rocks!

Ugh! Anyone who doesn’t give Positano 4 – 5 stars clearly doesn’t know what good food is-sadlly, thats their problem. I have been coming to this place for years with my family, my father and uncle are regulars for lunch and it is honestly one of my favorite restaurants!(DEFINITELY for italian food). Those who I’ve recommend to this restaurant end up loving it, and they also love the fact that the dining room isn’t extremely large. Prices are fair and portions are very generous. If anyone is thinking about coming to this restaurant give them a shot. I personally recommend the Chicken or Veal Sorrentino… its the best you’ll ever have.

I had walked in with my family for what I thought would be a just a regular pizza joint as it looks just like that at the storefront. Nope, it is a sit down with a waiter kind of place. So they created a table for us, gave us a menu and we ended up getting a sicilian pie. While we were waiting for our pizza, we saw two couples come in dressed nicely(the back of the place is more fancier looking for the restaurant area) but since there was a party in the back, they were seated in the front. The same waiter that serviced us had explained more about the specials on the menu to them and was generally more attentive to them rather than us. I don’t know if it was just because we were asians or that we dressed casual(it was mid 80s that day and humid), but we definitely didn’t get that same treatment. Next I heard the same waiter standing by the entrance say something along the lines of «I fucking hate my job!» and then walk right over to another customer with half a smile and take their order. Our pizza came shortly after and it was piping hot, very cheesy and delicious — at least for the first slice. The second slice we started noticing that it was actually kind of salty. At that point, we asked for the check. It was a done deal. Overall, I would not come back again even if I was in the area. I’ve been to better places in LI and had better experiences. Even the pizza joint near my house makes better and tastier(not salty!) pizzas and it would’ve been the same price!

People often have very strong and diverse opinions about what constitutes«good pizza» and which pizzeria makes the«best pizza». However, in my honest opinion, Positano’s has the best pizza on Long Island. Yummie! Don’t argue against my opinion because it is just an opinion. ^.^ However, everything besides their pizza and garlic knots isn’t really worth getting. Service can be improved; however, I’ve never seen outright rude behavior from the employees(out of the 10+ years I’ve been eating here). Close to H-mart too!

Decent food, but it’s not hard to find good Italian food on Long Island. The service here is almost comically bad. Where you kind of can’t believe how rude they are. Not just the waiters but the busboys too have a chip on their shoulders. I don’t know, maybe they need to hire a female to even out all of that testosterone. I’m just glad I still had a nice time out with my family. Again food is ok, but service just needs to be a lot better. If you come after 6ish be prepared to wait for a table.

Great food, large portions. I love the fried calamari — need at least 4 people to finish it so expect leftovers! For my meal I had linguine with baby clams in a white wine sauce. I was going to order linguine with white clam sauce, but the waiter suggested the baby clams. I had a feeling it would cost a few bucks more than the clam sauce but the clams were plentiful and juicy. My father had the pasta pescatore, which was delicious, but it would have been better if the sauce was thicker. These portions are HUGE! I suggest ordering family style or to plan leftovers. My mother ordered a side of sauteed spinach and you would think the spinach was a meal for two people.

When I come into Nassau to visit my Aunt or goto Focal Point with my mom we usually stop here before heading home a good 35 minutes east. No where else to date has beaten Positano’s Escarole & Bean soup. Not even a close second. There is something so magical about the Escarole & Bean soup. I’m not kidding you. It is that good. Positano’s has been in business for years and my mom has been getting the soup for those years. Oddly enough she eats it with the rolls they give as a side(if you want to call it that) while I sit and eat it as soup. I wish I could figure out how they make it so delicious. Maybe if I beg and plead I’ll get the recipe. Ha! A girl can dream right? Another delicious item they have is their fried capellini pie. Small like an appetizer size to split but also delicious. Dominick’s in less than a mile away also makes a fried capellini pie(they call it Spaghetti pie over at Dom’s). But good luck getting it at Dom’s. Dominick’s tends to make it mostly around Lent/Easter time. You’ll get lucky at Positano’s because they always and I mean ALWAYS have it every time I’m in there. Pizza isn’t bad. If I had a choice while I’m near my Aunt’s house I’ll take Cugini’s before Positano’s. I know I’m sorry Posi you have a special place in my heart for the Escarole & Beans. Service is decent for take out. They always wrap up our escarole and beans and a capellini pie up really good for us because we always tell them we’re heading east with it. Come here if you want excellent Escarole & Bean soup! Pretty large dining room in the back and I always see smiling and satisfied faces leaving so obviously Positano’s is doing something right. Also… Heads up! The parking lot gets a little crazy since H-Mart is right next door.
