Best place ever. Growing up my family and I have always stopped here on our way to Dallas. Never a let down. This is the place to stop and grab a bite to eat! You won’t be let down. BESTKOLACHESEVER! My new favorite is the chocolate and cream cheese kolache. Oh and also the pepperoni kolache

OH yeah! In the past, any time I go on a trip between Dallas and Austin, this is a must stop. Funny thing is that I was visiting Dallas for a work conference and was on the way down to Austin afterwards. My friend who drove me automatically pulled over and got me wondering if something was wrong. As soon as he pulled in, memories of this place flashed back like a flood gate opening. I completely forgot about this stop for years! So glad he pulled over. It was almost like muscle memory for the dude. Their kolaches are sublime. Warm soft bread encasing sweet or savory goodness. My favorite is the jalapeño cheese and the breakfast one. When you pick your favorite, you can have them warm it up if it isn’t a batch that came right out of the oven. If the bakery is closed, you can visit the store next door and they should have some. Fyi, it is a gamble on your visit in terms of the wait time. When my friend and I walked in, there was only one person getting their goods. We decided to use the restroom first. Man was that a bad decision. We came out and the line was almost out the door! Nonetheless, it did not deter us from getting our hands on deliciousness. yums!

Mmmm, kolaches. And no, I’m not talking about sausage rolls either. For years I’d seen and heard about the Czech Stop in West but I never bothered to actually stop on grab something to eat. I’m more of a stop for gas, restroom, food at the same time kind of driver. But on a girls trip to San Antonio, I couldn’t resist the stop on the way there. It was soooo good. And they heated up my kolaches and sausage rolls. Nom. My most recent visit was this past weekend and my mom and I stopped by on our way back from San Antonio. We mistakenly walked into the little bakery side, which is tiny. It didn’t matter because we walked out after a bit of a wait(they try to expedite the line by asking if you know what you want but no one does because they want to look at the vast array of kolaches first) with warm kolaches and sausage rolls. That was definitely the fuel I needed to drive the last leg of the drive home. Gotta love the Czech stop.

This is such a fun little pit stop on the way to/from Austin! We stopped on a Friday afternoon as we were driving to Austin from Dallas for the weekend. The prices here cannot be beat! We bought a box of six sweet kolaches for a little over $ 7. We tried the apple, strawberry, peach, apricot, pumpkin cream cheese and chocolate cream cheese. Our favorites were definitely the peach and apricot ones. The cream cheese ones were a little too rich for us(and there wasn’t enough chocolate in the chocolate cream cheese one!) I recommend getting them heated up, we didn’t do that and I think they would have been even better that way. The stop itself resembles a rest stop more than anything, they sell regular convenience store items as well as pastries. There’s a nice, clean bathroom in the back, and a gas station with reasonable prices out front. Overall, a really fun place to stop when you have a hankering for pastry and you need to stretch your legs on the drive.

Kolaches… Sooo good! Think of it as a glorified stuffed bun. But worthy of glorifying. They have all sorts of filling. The price ranges between $ 1.50 up to $ 4. Must: Get them warmed up Tip: Get the Sausage, Jalapeño, and Cheese Kolache. Is actually cheaper than the Sausage and Cheese Kolache, and gives you that spicy kick at the end.

I guess this is a bit lost on me. We did make the drive from Dallas to Austin and I was told to stop here along the way. I think in order to enjoy this place, you really need to be into sweets or super fatty/savory items. I do think what they prepared was of good quality, it just wasn’t my preference. I ended up getting a sausage and cheese, strawberry and peach kolache. Perhaps if I do this drive again I’ll have to give them another shot. I didn’t get the sausage and cheese one warmed up either. That might have been the issue. It did satisfy me while we were on the road so that part was good. Expect a pretty long line and to be overwhelmed by their selection. This place really knows how to turn out food and they’ve clearly got a strong following.

I wish I travelled down this route more frequently just so I could keep coming back to this place. It’s a small little gem filled with all kinds of fun goodies inside. I didn’t try any of the kolaches, but we did purchase the cinnamon rolls, quite a few of the fruit pastries, bread, biscuits and cake balls. You could taste the freshness of all of it. The bread and biscuits were soft and aromatic. Pastries were delicious and not overly sweet so that the flavors of the pineapple, lemon, and apricot shined through. Can’t wait to come back and hoard up on more treats. The pies looked incredibly tempting.

One of the best places in central Texas to get Kolaches! This is a must-stop between Dallas and Austin. The past 2 times I have driven this direction I stopped here. This week I tried the chocolate-chip-cream-cheese and the coconut cream-cheese. I love sweet kolaches. Eric R. ordered a sausage kolache and had it warmed up, as well as a maple twist. He was very happy with both. Make this your rest stop — the prices are great, there are so many options of flavors(both sweet and savory), and your tummy will be happy!

Even the air in the parking lot smells good! I avoided stopping at the Czech Stop for years because I thought a kolache was just a glorified pig in a blanket, but now I know they are so much more! We ordered brisket kolaches, breakfast kolaches, pizza kolaches, and ham kolaches, and barely scratched the surface of the savory kolache universe. Plus, they have so many sweet options. And cupcakes. And pastries. Truly, Czech Stop is a marvelous place!

I used to stop here ALLTHETIME on my drive from Houston to Fort Worth.(If you live in NW Houston and take the 290 – TX-6 – I-35 route you’ll know what I mean.) Or you could do the DFW – Austin drive. Or not, because staying on I-35 for prolonged periods in ANY city is a horrifying experience. Anyway, best kolaches(fruit-filled) and klobasneks(sausage) this side of the Atlantic. Most people mistakenly call klobasneks kolaches. Don’t do it. Give this place a shot. Don’t walk into the nicer looking building across the highway. Their selection is terrible.

ANICONICCZECHBAKERYINTEXAS, A MUSTSTOP on the I-35, we have been coming here since before 1983. They have expanded several times in the decades, and are still crowded. LITERALLY everyone in Texas stops here. They have 3 dozen or more kinds of kolaches, and almost never sell out because they bake 24⁄7. We love the old traditionals, the peach, cherry, and apricot, but the new style fruit and sweetened cream cheese kolaches are delicious too. We love the sausage and jalapeño with sauerkraut for breakfast or dinner — but the ham and cheese is great too for those who won’t eat cabbage or chile. Park in the parking lot next door and avoid the sometimes chaotic lot in front of the gas pumps. And be sure and put a dozen in the trunk to eat at home — if your kolaches are accessible, they WILL disappear before you roll in.

This place fills me with Texas pride. This little bakery in the heart of West, Texas makes me love being from the Lone Star State. My whole life I’ve grown up eating kolaches, a Czech-style pastry. Many Eastern Europeans settled to Texas in the 19th century making Texas very diverse. I am glad that the Czech tradition lives on in West and Little Czech Bakery aka Czech stop is a great representation. I love the strawberry and pumpkin kolaches for your sweet tooth. Try the breakfast puff and the new hatch chili kolaches for a more filling fix. Take some baked goods for later by getting some jalapeño cheese garlic biscuits or a mini cobbler!

It’s a gas/convenience store that has a huge baked goods section. Ok, the selections are awesome and the ones I have tried are great. But the lines can be lengthy on the weekend. It’s a must stop by if your in the area. Enjoy!

Expect to spend at least 15 minutes in the line here even if you’re in the rush. Unless if you’re buying kolaches frozen. Impressive selection of Czech sausages for sale. Several local brands but Waco’s holy smokes sausage looks to be the best. Now this place is well know for the kolaches. The sausage Texan style kolaches, aka klobasnik(as they are labeled here and known in the Czech community), were just alright they used sausages that are a better grade than the typical hot dog sausages and for that I’m grateful. But they pale in comparison with the sweet Czech kolaches. I tried several — and the ones with berries with cream cheese were phenomenal. I liked it more than the peach and the pumpkin. If you’re disheartened to read this because you wanted something savory — I would wholeheartedly recommend you to go straight for their puffs. They’re much much better and delicious — of these, I got the sausage and kraut, BBQ brisket, and pulled pork. The brisket and the kraut were my favorites. What makes this an outstanding 5 stars is that these are made fresh everyday using tasting pillowy dough. And also because the variety is impressive for a little bakery inside a dinky gas station. You could also buy them frozen to go. Be sure to stop by here if you’re on the road. They’re one of the best kolache shop I’ve been to in Texas. And it’s an «Only in Texas» thing.

Driving down 35? Well then you better Czech yourself before you wreck yourself! I’m not usually a big fan of sweets, but this place is great. C’mon, what other place has KOLACHES on their front sign? No seriously, I’m asking, because I have no other place to compare their kolaches to. Which might be a good thing, because these ones were amazing. They have all sorts of cookies too! I was on the way to visit a friend, who watches football. I was able to pick up a football-shaped cookie here! Way to pull through in terms of gift ideas, Czech stop!

The most difficult part about coming here is only choosing a few items, since everything looks delicious. The bakery was already busy when we arrived around 1pm on a Friday– there was a line, but it moved pretty quickly. We ended up trying: –Sausage w/Cheese($ 1.65, ): Yum– highly recommended! We tried a couple other versions in Austin, but none came close to this one. –Strawberry & Cream Cheese Kolache($ 1.39, ): Also delicious and highly recommended– the pastry was soft and fluffy, and the strawberry/cream cheese ratio was perfect and not too sweet. Overall, these were the best kolaches that I’ve tried so far, and this is a must stop for any pastry lover! Parking is easy since they have a gigantic lot across the street.

I found this bakery just on the side of the highway while driving. If you’re making a trip alongside highway 35, I highly recommend making a stop here. It’s one of those rare gems and you won’t regret coming here. There is a large parking lot on the side that makes it easy to get in and out. When I came in there was only a twenty minute wait. And the bathrooms are probably the best for any highway rest stop. While you’re here, the line wraps around the entire store. So, be sure to grab bread or anything else items that are laying around the store you might want to purchase. It’s way too difficult to get what you’d like once you’re already in line to pay. I really loved the kolache’s here. I highly recommend getting some with cream cheese and a few without. For me it really depended on what the base flavor was. One of my favorites was the apple and the pumpkin. Definitely check this place out! I really enjoyed it and will hopefully stop by anytime I’m driving by West.

What can I say that no one else has said? Nothing. This place has THE best kolaches in the state. Swear it. Anytime I drive near Waco, this place is a MUSTSTOP. Pro tips: –Check the freezer section and get some of the frozen kolaches from the day before and they’ll be cheaper plus they’re already packaged for freezer life so you can enjoy them longer. 1doz raspberry and cream cheese for about $ 12. Not a bad deal! –Day old sandwiches for $ 2. Just as good as day one but about half the price! –Sometimes they have specials if you buy one doz kolaches, you can get one free. That’s a saweeeeet deal, y’all. Stop here. Do it. You must. These are bangin’.

I actually plan my road trips around this amazing place! If we are headed to a destination and we can get there by taking I-35 then that is the route we are taking. You can’t go wrong with any item on the bakery’s menu. My staple choices include the ham and cheese kolache and the cream cheese kolache. I wish I could get a little bit of everything. Their sandwiches, rolls, bread loaves, and cookies are some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Even their deviled eggs will put your Momma’s to shame! Their lines can be long but it moves pretty quickly and your treat at the end is completely worth any wait! If your traveling through West, Texas then make sure you stop in!

What I imagine the Old World would taste like, if it were wrapped in a yeasty pillow of fruity deliciousness and served up at a truck stop. Seriously, this place rocks. I’ve tried at least six flavors of kolache(pronounced kol-OTCH-ee), sandwiches and cookies, and this is the real deal! Customer service is down to earth, good folks. The lines may be long, but they get people through quickly. Only thing that’s not top-notch is the coffee.
