First time here. We were kinda worried about some of the reviews, but our experience was excellent. Seated right away on a Friday night. The bar was full, but plenty of room in the big, open restaurant. Immediate service dropping menus and taking out drink orders. Right back with drinks & to take our order. We had hot & sour soup — definitely hot, a little sour, very tasty! Moo Shi Pork was fresh with lots of pork, cabbage & other veggies. The pancakes were soft and warm. Nice dish. Chicken in Garlic Sauce was tasty, a bit spicy and very well made. All around, the food was top notch. And, the prices were lower than nearby Chinese restaurants– we’ll be back soon…

Horrible service and food. We waited for 45 minutes for our food to show up and only 1 persons dinner arrived and it was burnt. After another 15 minutes of the waiter ignoring us we decided to leave. It was a mistake to try this place and we will not make that same mistake again. The reviews were misleading.

Was disappointed in this experience. I ordered our meal using the online tool they provide and it was quite easy. However, the menu failed to mention that rice is not provided automatically so we got three entrees with no rice. Many places include rice so they should tell you if they don’t. I ordered the General Gao’s chicken and it was tasty but there was practically zero chicken. It was 80% breading, which I didn’t eat. Same goes for the Mongolian beef. Tasted ok but it was almost all onions and not much meat. The last dish was a pan fried noodle dish with chicken and veggies. We got it in two containers. One had a round tangle of hard, greasy noodles like a frisbee and the other a chicken dish. I guess you’re supposed to pour it over the noodles. You’d have to, to soften them up enough to eat. All in all definitely not worth the 50+ bucks we spent(w/o rice!) Will find a different place next time.

I ordered delivery using Eat24. I’ve ordered once before about a year ago, and I remembered everything being great. I would have ordered again before now but I really don’t eat Chinese all that often. The delivery took about 65, when it was estimated to be 45 – 60 minutes. It wasn’t a huge deal. If it had gone another 5 minutes, I might have started to get annoyed, though. That being said, we would have waited an extra five minutes for everything to be cooked 2 minutes longer… Everything was cooked fully — no raw meat or anything. But the crab rangoons and chicken fingers were still blonde — needed another minute or two in the fryer, and the beef teriyaki had no color on it, either. It could have stood another two minutes on the heat, too. The sesame chicken could also have used another minute in the fryer to crisp up. The lack of browning caused a lack of flavor. And we were surprised that the sesame chicken didn’t come with any rice. It just seemed like it should. I ended up throwing in a microwavable bag of rice to supplement. The crab rangoons were kind of overfilled. I love having more filling, but taking a bite caused filling to ooze out. Twice I had to catch it before it landed on my shirt. Only one fortune cookie for two people. I might give them a try again, but I don’t know. I’ll probably think twice before ordering Chinese again

Been here for the 5th time, always my choice when traveling near Boston. Owner and staff are very attentive, and food are very authentic, price are very reasonable too. Must try if you’re at the vicinity

Vey friendly service. Sat at the bar and played Keno, and got food to go. Met the owner — Jeff — and came over to speak with us, and told me that he plans to expand the bar area and knock the wall down. As they should — bar area is great but too small. Food was great — not overly fried or greasy. The egg rolls were delicious and actually tasted like veggies rather than fried crap. I highly recommend this place — will check it out on a Friday or Saturday night to see how they are while busy.

Been twice in a week. Had a Groupon. Four of twenty tables had customers last Saturday at 7:00. My wife ordered steamed sea bass, our favorite dish at the other Chinese restaurant in Wayland. It had the off taste of fish not yet spoiled but going that way which we both found very unpleasant, so we sent it back. The host said they had bought ten fish in Chinatown at some unspecified point and froze some. They would not accept theGroupon since we sent a dish back. Tonight our power was out so I headed down for dinner. Four tables occupied again on this Saturday night. Once again this week the bar was jumping, so they have that part down. The host asked if I was eating alone. Yes, I decided to pass on Ant Man, unaware that our power would be out moments later. I chose selections whose ingredients would have been purchased frozen, like a calamari appetizer and grilled shrimp entrée, which were not inspired but tasted fine. However the green tea ice cream ordered for dessert had clearly defrosted and been refrozen. It was solid ice in parts and tasted like cardboard. It must have been difficult to scoop and I cannot imagine anyone serving it. Won’t be back for another try.

Pickup was ready on-time. Wife gave the cashew chicken a 3 for taste, a 5 for portion size, and a 2 for an over-preponderance of celery. Son gave the General’s chicken a 4, but mostly because of the volume of food, not the taste.

Food was ok. Understaffed meant service slow. I was a little taken aback by the edamame. I could see without tasting that it was old or overcooked. Very tough. I sent them back. They should have known but I felt they kind of tried to pass it off to us. Then the waiter didn’t take it off the bill although mgr had intended that. So I had to speak up at the end of the meal. The other dishes(egg foo yong, chicken with veg) we had were average.(Not delicious but not bad.) The egg roll was really good. I knew the space when it was Mexican. The new owners have made it lighter and nicer inside.

China Rose is a great spot. The owner Jeff is a great guy and always makes sure everyone is well taken care of. The new bar they put in is beautiful and always clean, and the beer is always ice cold. The food is always fresh and well prepared. My favorite dishes are the Cheng-Du Chicken and the Spicy Wontons, but everything is very good. They have half priced appetizers at the bar from 4 – 6 everyday and during Sox games, its a great deal. Awesome place.

This place is amazing and a hidden gem. The food is fresh and the staff bends over backwards to please. The bar area is particularly adaptable to both dinner or just drinks. No other place worth going for chinese in this area.

The food and drinks are good. No doubt. However, the service is sub-par. If you’re not a drinker, they don’t come back to see if you want something. No word of a lie, I was at a table with two other drinkers and someone who only had one as he was driving. The three of us were asked about repeat drinks repeatedly, but the 1-drink guy wasn’t even offered water once he refused a second drink. He was IGNORED! This happened twice when we went there for karaōke. Really? Karaōke in a dining room? Make the bar 4X bigger and only have 8 – 10 tables for dining since I haven’t seen the place with more than that being used! And delivery? If they tell you 30 – 45 minutes, expect not to see anyone for at least an hour… and that’s if you call to bug them in 30 min!

It’s awesome to have a good chinese place close. It’s even better that they deliver! The food is flavorful and the staff and owers are wonderful. Can’t wait to enjoy the bar for Karaōke next week. :)

Went last night on a friends suggestion. Ian the bartender very friendly and came right over to us. Mai tai’s were great and the food was really good. Crab ragoon was really good not greasy at all. We tried a little bit of everything and nothing disappointed. Jeff the owner even came over. Very friendly staff and good food. Try it out

Long time Unilocal lurker that couldn’t help but write a review. The online ordering uses grub hub. For a few items there is a ‘Make it gluten free’ button. We ordered the salted pepper crispy shrimp and checked that box… It was not gluten free. We asked for extra white rice, and they delivered no white rice. Apparently no rice comes with entrees. Honestly all of that is mildly annoying, why they get one star is a simple phone call when they saw requests that didn’t make sense would have solved a lot of issues. The gluten free mistake is really sad.

No way. Asked for spicy tofu and veggies and we were given nasty tofu that was in a gross brown sauce. Huge disappointment. I even asked for — and confirmed — extra spicy. Soggy veggies. Secondly, we got the bone in ribs($ 10 for 3 small ribs and one super small one; horrible value) sauce was good on the ribs but that’s the only positive thing I have to say. Too bad, but it is what it is. Was also quoted 10 minutes for take out order and waited at least 20 inside the restaurant. Not pleasant. Doesn’t smell good.

Had dinner at China Rose a few days ago. Now open where Viva used to be. We had Peking Duck, shu mai, chicken with cashews and a house special. Food was surprisingly good. Duck obviously not Chinatown grade but prepared at tableside and very tasty and well flavored. Shumai were excellent. The other two dishes as well. Much better than the other local Chinese restaurants in area. Service was excellent. Drinks quite strong. Only complaint was that décor needs work, but hey, it was their first week. Will definitely go back! Can’t wait to try takeout.
