Amazing food and atmosphere! Happy Hour on weekends and great selection of charcuterie.

I went here with my wife and we both had a good time. The actual happy hour was much different than what was advertised, but it was still a good deal and we enjoyed it. There isn’t a lot of seating, but I liked the intimate setting. Our server was really nice and attentive.

I really like this wine bar. One of my favorite places on U street. The vibe is cool — dimly lit and intimate. Upstairs is where I sat with my friend group, but they had plenty of space. Great drinks. Food is awesome — I had a mushroom flatbread with pork and it was just so so good. Hats off to the servers and bartender who took good care of us. oh but by God, avoid the bathroom at the end of the hall during halloween.

Very cool wine bar. Can’t believe I had never been here before. Definitely plan on coming back. I actually had one of the cocktails, Fall Fizz. Not usually a huge whiskey fan but this tastes like liquid apple pie! Mmmmm. Also tried the prosciutto flatbread and the mushroom flatbread. Both were delicious. Service was really slow, hence the 4 stars. Will definitely be back!

This is one classy little wine bar with a lot of personality. It’s very intimate and quiet inside with the space almost only illuminated by candlelight. I love it! The menu isn’t large and really highlights the organic wine they serve. It’s a prefect spot to catch up with friends over good booze. The only downside is that as it’s become more well known over the years is gotten harder to find a table. Dickson is unpretentious, hip and oh so cool.

Hosted a partner wine tasting without knowing anything about this wine bar. After calling several places, Greg’s enthusiasm won me over! He and Stanley gave us a night to remember. If you can, I highly recommend this as a group activity! Ask for Greg. I hope to come back to DC and do this again. Fun night! Thank you!!!

I’ve walked by this place dozens of times but never noticed it. A friend suggested that we go here for drinks and dinner before a show at 9:30 Club. I’m really glad that we tried it out! If you’re looking for it It’s right next door to the Gibson on U Street. We dined in the basement which was cozy and dim. The walls are lined with wine bottles and there are candles all over. This would be the perfect date night spot. I ordered the vodka punch which was a delicious concoction recommended by our waitress. For dinner I had one of their signature Thai sandwiches. I don’t remember what it was called, but I ordered the chicken and my friend ordered the pork. The sandwiches came on thick, soft, fresh bread and were garnished with lettuce carrots and other things… Both sandwiches were delicious. Some other friends tried the flat breads and seemed to enjoy them. I loved the intimate warm atmosphere of this place. The service was quick and the staff were friendly. Great spot!

We went there on Thursday — surprisingly not many people were there. We sat at the lower level — which was decorated simply but nicely with lots of empty bottles. The place is dark, quiet and gives you a very intimate feeling. 2 waiters took care of us, and gave us 2 tasters before we chose which bottle to take. We took Pinot Noir — in our opinion a very good choice. We ate the hummus dish, which arrived with slices of pita, and Wild Mushroom flat-bread which was so tasty!

By far my favorite wine bar in DC. I’ve been to many and this is my favorite other than Barcelona. But I count Barcelona more as a restaurant than wine bar. The staff here is super nice and makes great suggestions. I always order a bottle of the Pinot noir(I don’t remember the name but if I see the menu I’ll know it) and the charcuterie(I always have the host select what they think is good). Every time they did not disappoint!

Definition of a little nook stashed away on U street between few more packed bars. Nice laid back atmosphere and I think it’d be a great place to bring a date for drinks and light food before«running with the bulls» on U street’s more popular bars. The night i came the kitchen had closed but i heard good things from the people who had a chance to order food. The beer comes in a mason jar so if you’re a beer purist be aware. This will be worth coming back to for the food. If only Baltimore was closer to DC i might actually make a happy hour here after work.

A bit hard to find but a really interesting and quirky space. We ate out on the patio in the back. We stopped by before a show at 9:30. We split a beet salad, mushroom flat bread, the pork belly banh mi and a brownie. We also got a one of a kind blueberry tea with green matcha lemonade. I can say it was one of the best tea lemonades I’ve ever had and it’s my favorite type of beverage. The beet salad had delicious feta and beets, but there was maybe one slice of orange which was disappointing since it was so tasty. The plating was odd, almost as if the salad was served upside down. The mushroom flat bread was delicious, but the mushrooms were still a bit watery, which made it a bit messy to eat. The pork belly banh mi hit all of the traditional flavors that come in banh mi, I was really impressed, if it had cucumber it would have be the perfect traditional banh mi. The brownie… was soooo intense, delicious, a bit too crunchy at some parts, we had a hard time breaking it apart, and honestly could have share it with another two people, but definitely super chocolaty. The service was great, the background music a perfect blend of my own playlist. We really enjoyed our time here and will definitely go back if we’re in the area.

I came here late on a Friday night. The drinks are a bit on the pricey side(I had a Moscow mule for $ 12 plus tip). Most drinks are in the $ 10-$ 16 range. The patio is lovely. There are several tall tables that can seat around 6 – 8 people. The bar extends to the patio, so the service is fast. I would love to come back!

Loved this cozy, romantic wine bar! Even better that they have happy hour on Saturdays from 5 – 7. I came here with my husband around 5 on a Saturday afternoon/evening and it wasnt very busy, but by the time we left around 6:30, it was really filling up. They have the first floor bar, then a cozy basement room with a large window looking out onto the U street corridor, and then the upstairs loft space. All three floors are lit with candles, and give it a really warm, romantic ambiance. Back to happy hour, my favorite thing. Happy hour specials EVERYDAY! $ 5 a glass for 2 choices of red or 2 choices of white wines, and $ 5 beers. They also have happy hour food specials: $ 5 for hummus and pita, and a selection of meat and cheese, each $ 5 or 2 for $ 8. Really good, quick service too! Our waiter was so helpful with suggestions for the wine list, and generally just a nice guy. Overall, perfect spot to have a couple glasses of wine and a snack and sit and relax.

It is Christmas eve and my wife and I have received an early Christmas gift… a night out. A family friend graciously volunteered to look after the kids and we thankfully and quickly accepted… hallelujah! Looked for places to hang with my boo and somehow ended up here. The Unilocal page reminded me that it is a holiday so I should call. I did and was warmly greeted by the bartender, Greg. We drove on this misty, majestic night to this place. At first I had difficulty finding it because I have horrible night vision… just ask my intramural flag football teammates from college… night games were not very good to me. We found the place and instantly loved it. The décor is simple and stylish. It is an intimate place with just enough to make it great for conversation and casual drinking. Due to it being Christmas eve I can’t accurately describe how crowded it gets and how the food is. The wine was yummy and the suggestions were on point. What made this five star worthy is that the bartender kept the place open an hour longer than he originally intended. That was clutch!

Such a cute spot! I love everything about this place. The décor is lovely and cozy, and our bartender was great. They have a nice menu of interesting cocktails and lots of wine. We shared a cheese plate which was great. We didn’t get to try any of the other things on the menu, but everything that came out of the kitchen smelled amazing.

It was late at night, we were definitely the last customers, and this was after going to a show at the 9:30 club. Their beer selection was solid, and though I’m not a wine guy, the girl in our group was very much a fan of the wine selection. the bartender let her try 2 – 3 before she finally settled on one(she was being a snob). By the way, let me call out the awesome bartender. I believe his name was Greg. He humored us way more than he had to, and he was just so darn friendly/affable. Honestly, it felt like he was part of our group. This bar is a little out of the way for me, so I don’t know how often I’ll be back, but probably after ever 9:30 show i go to. It’s a great place to sit and calm down for a bit.

Came here with a friend to start the night off of drinking and linkin’ up with other dispersed around the area. To be honest I don’t remember really how we picked this place… Oh wait! It’s all coming back to me now… We started at another spot. Well, we attempted to start at another spot. But because ran into a problem at bar #1 so my friend suggests another place which is right down the street. We get to Dickison Wine Bar and there isn’t a guy working the door. At night, this place kinda operates as a gastropub. Didn’t seem to get much attention because the patron count inside was under five heads, I didn’t mind. And proceeded to start on my delicious Moscole Mule. The bar was dim light, like extremely dim lit. An abundance of candles to lead the trails from the bar to the bathroom. Oh yeah, the bathroom is downstairs, didn’t realize the spot had a lower level as well(front entrance has you on the second floor) if I didn’t need the restroom I would’ve never known. Downstairs had a small bar, very nice for a small intimate-group kinda thing. It appeared there were two couples on a double date kinda thing when I passed by them to use the restroom. Well, grabbed a drink, used the restroom and we were on our way to #2 from here. I remember it being really close to Howard University, which I like because there are a lot of cool eat spots and music venues in that area. I bookmarked it in my mind for my next return. I wanted to start there again for a night out on the town!

Cute spot to grab a glass of wine or cocktail. Great date spot! I had a cocktail(the one with ginger beer) and it was fantastic! It’s a small place, but on a Friday night at 8:30, we were still able to get a seat for 2 at the bar! You may want to have a backup bar in mind in case this place is full(there are plenty of options on U Street) — but this could be a great idea for a first stop!

Great food, great wine list, and super cute atmosphere! This would be 5 stars if only the service or the cocktails a bit better. We ordered two sazeracs(which actually had absinthe in them) and an elderflower cocktail — and got two elderflowers and a sazerac. I was debating between the two, so didn’t mind the confusion; especially after trying the sazerac which was too strong and not well balanced(and my friend sent it back). The food was amazing! The duck charcuterie was really great! The truffle and mushroom flat bread was also good. And the pork belly banh mi was the best I’ve ever had.(I’m not a banh mi connoisseur, but I’ve had a few and nothing compared.)

Probably more like a 3.5. I really enjoy going to Dickson. It’s really an inconspicuous spot on U Street that you can easily miss as you’re walking down the street. However, once you find your way in, you will be pleasantly surprised. The kinda dark and cozy with three levels… the bottom level being the most spacious. The wines are pretty good… not the most extensive wine collection, but still very nice. They also have a nice selection of beers and cocktails. I really enjoy the food. The have a nice selection of cheeses to pair with the wine, but I love their small bites… especially the chicken bahn mi. But warning it’s spicy!!! However, the bread is perfectly crusty and soft at the same time. I would love to know where they get their baguettes. yum! They flat breads are also quite tasty. Dickson is definitely a nice spot to go on a date or with a couple of friends. Just a couple because it is a small place. :)
