I can’t believe how bad my experience was at Dandy’s.(And how did they come up w this name? It’s not very Chinese.). First off this place is not designed to be fancy, it’s a simple takeout place that’s there to accommodate late night 930 club revelers. As my band practices in this area I was starving one Saturday and wanted nourishment fast. So I came in here and it was a little dingy but sometimes the best food comes out of hole-in-the-wall places. I thought it was cool that there was lunch specials available on Saturdays and ordered the shrimp in lobster sauce which comes with rice and an egg roll. The sauce didn’t taste like any lobster sauce I’ve had… it seemed like regular white sauce that comes with any generic Chinese dish. The rice was mixed in the same container so the rice was super soggy. There were only 5 sad jumbo shrimp in the dish, a little bit of egg, and some carrots and peas floating around in the over excessive sauce. It was a disappointing meal. The egg roll was more dough than stuffing. I had to ask for sauce packets and the service was not very friendly. I felt like I was disturbing the conversation between the cook and the worker. I guess you get what you pay for here and if you’re craving good Chinese food go elsewhere but I think if you’re drunk this place could hit the spot at the right price.

The place is dirtyy on the floor but the Chinese people we’re cool they had my back !! This crazy b***** sitting at the table threw food at me. I said wtf is your problem the girl didn’t say anything I punched her in the head. Chinese lady at the counter apologized about that. Because I shouldn’t have to go to a bussiness place and put myself in harms way. Oh their French fries is off the bomb when you’re leaving from the club I had to stop by.

Literally just saw the woman pick a styrofoam container up from the floor and put it back in the stack. And you charge $.75 for a credit card?!

I had them deliver to my hotel. The steak and cheese is very good but the ordering is hard because of the the broken«engrish» lol. The fried wings are good with the fries(salt pepper ketchup) and mumbo sauce is a must.

I was wrong — they also mysteriously ‘add on’ to pick up orders! What is WITH my peeps? *sigh* Why do I do this to myself?! Probably because I miss my mama’s cooking and there’s a dearth of decent mid– to low-end ‘ethnic’ food in DC(unless you’re looking for Ethiopian). :-|

I can’t imagine going to the 9:30 club for a concert without making a stop at the nearby Dandy’s. Based on appearance, it is a place I never would have walked into if someone hadn’t dragged me along on my original visit. The place is grimy, and sells everything from pizza to Chinese food to i-phone cases, usually not a good sign for delicious food. I have only ever tried one thing at Dandy’s and it is all anyone ever needs to try. this is the Cheesesteak egg roll. I had never heard of such a thing, and as a picky eater was very skeptical, but they are heaven on earth! They are delicious. I have gone back many times, and always bring visiting friends to Dandy’s. I have yet to find a single person who is not obsessed with these hidden gems. If you are at the 9:30 club or for any other odd reason in the area, you must stop by for a cheese steak egg roll, I promise you will not be disappointed!

Dandys is your 1 stop carry-out. Theyre categorized under Chinese, but thats not the only thing they specialize in serving other popular foods like hoagies, wings, burgers, and even pizza. The food is usually always good(to be take-out food) i recommened the buffalo wings, with seasoned fries and mumbo sauce. They even deliver cigars and ciggarettes but delivery is a 10 $ minimum. If u decide to go to the actual establishment you might not want to eat from there, but the food is safe. Ive order from here over a gazillion times! All in all Dandys is great for those late nights when everything is closed but you’re still hungry

I go to Howard, and Dandy’s is so convenient if you don’t feel like walking to Howard China, or HoChi, as we call it. The food is so ugghhhh. Everything is overbattered, and soggy. But like, I said, it gets you through an all nighter when you don’t feel like leaving your room.

Convenient location down the block from 9:30 Club. Wandered in to kill time when I saw the small table with three chairs by the window. Saw the standard array of Americanized fare for U St drunks on the menu. Spare rib tips with crinkle cut fries came out in good time. A fork, some napkins, ketchup, and a mild tub of sriracha were included in the bag. The fries were crispy and bland; I’m fortunate that they didn’t steam into mush during travel time. Pork was on the dry side, a few pieces almost tough, marinated well and the occasional inclusion of cartilage. Decently cheap for one of the slightly more legit proteins on the menu, so two and a half stars.

Wasn’t too impressive! Ordered general tso chicken n shrimp in lobster sauce, both were subpar. Chicken was soggy and filled with battered instead of real meat. Prices weren’t so cheap either.

Dandy’s is right off of the U Street Corridor. Very convenient to bars and a few small concert venues. The prices are right for the basic DC carryout fair. I will say that they have some of the best mumbo sauce you can find. They will even sell you some in various sized containers to take home and use on your own chicken(or whatever). They’re open late, so great for taking home some food after bar-hopping or enjoying a show at the 9:30 Club.

This is your standard all-in-one carryout place that you find in some DC and other city neighborhoods. They serve Chinese food, subs, fried chicken, wings and pizza. It has funny, unexplained things on the menu, like«Munchers» on the appetizer list. My favorite dining companion and I made a bet on what a muncher is. He guessed jalapeño poppers, and I guessed tater tots(using the process of elimination, since the appetizer list was pretty exhaustive!). We open the box. We taste. Munchers are jalapeño flavored tater tots. We both win. Don’t go running here for great dining, but if you are starving after the 9:30 club, it’s just across the street. The wonton soup is good, and the bean curd(tofu) with broccoli is too.
