Amazing happy hour! The sleepy buffalo is a must try. I love that they seasonally change the menu so that your never bored.

A little hard to find as it’s part of larger shopping center, but when you do find it, you will be impressed. Upon entrance there are 2 large doors. Secret looking ones. Once they are opened you are looking at the host/hostess area and are warmly greeted. They do accept reservations(luckily since we had a party of 12). It’s dimly lit and very modern. Open floor plan with a decent size bar. Bar is also surrounded by high tables. The menu is pub food with a flare… an upscale one. All I can say it’s worth every penny. My wife and I were very impressed with everything(service, food and ambiance). Food: I ordered the SHORTRIBPANINI — Pulled braised short rib, tomato jam, taleggio cheese, fresh baby arugula, sourdough bread 14.50(-and was blown away) I decided to get a salad as the side because I am fat. I also tried the CHICKENPIBIL(3 not 4) — Yucatan style, spice rubbed & braised organic chicken, queso fresco, grilled pineapple, pickled red onion, cilantro. so flavorful… so delicious. Service: Spot on. NO complaints. Although the food took a while to come out, it’s expected with a large group PLUS it all came out at the same time which is a bonus! Prices: It’s upscale(presentation and prices) and worth every penny. Bonus: It’s was great for our son. Dimly lit, a little background music… lulled him to sleep! Overall — Loved our experience and we are already planning on going back even though it’s a bit of a drive. ENJOY!

For the first time, I’m trying the Uproot Happy Hour menu(M-F, 3−7p). I’m not sure if this menu is unchanging, their regular men often changes/revamps itself. I’ve decided to try things that were new to me, shrimp pot stickers, beer battered onion rings, Kane(nj) IPA, and maybe not the mussels. I might have ordered them before. The mussels are perfect and come in a buttery tomato sofrito. Delicious! The onion rings have a light breading and come lightly salted with an aioli. Really nice. The pot stickers have a note of ginger. Again, Delicious. Oh, the service, quick, efficient, welcoming, great. I am yet to find a single thing I don’t love about Uproot.

Awesome dinner. From the mushroom soup to truffle fries and salmon with quinoa, everything was terrific. Thanks to Jade for recommending the Upside Down Pineapple Cake(a special) for dessert. The homemade coconut marshmallow was great. Sorry I don’t have a picture. I ate it too fast.

So if you’re looking for someplace nice to go for a date… This is the spot. The upscale modern interior and trendy atmosphere is sure to impress. The staff is wonderful and knowledgeable and the service great. They have a very good wine selection and some great mixed drinks. As far as the food, we had the makers mark vanilla buffalo wings which were crazy good. It has such a unique flavor that keeps you coming back for more… My wife is lucky I love her or I would of grabbed the last wing and ran out of the place to never be seen again. I had the espresso rubbed hanger steak which was cooked to perfection… I know is seems silly, but to see a perfectly cooked rare steak is a thing of beauty and a lot of places seem to overcook it… But Uproot got it right and man was that steak delicious. For dessert we had the sticky buns which comes out it a little cast iron pan and is nothing short of decadent. Overall, a great spot I highly recommend.

Very good– Bar is excellent — with bartenders that are really trained and passionate — I am finicky about my Manhattans– it was made properly and they had Antica vermouth — probably one of the best bar programs in NJ– Food is very good and one of the best burgers anywhere– meat is blended by Johns butcher shop in Scotch Plains– this is not just a burger — this is perfection– an indulgence– perfect in every way. I ordered mine with pork belly and a sunny side up egg. I would rather have this than most of the steaks I order anywhere. There is the evidence of passion and attention to detail. The bar area is busy and loud — but there is a back area that is much quieter.

Love this place for the happy hour!(and i don’t even like happy hour). The bar atmosphere is perfect, fairly good selection of beer and drinks. Like the option of small bites/plates and casual menu options. This is close to home so it always nice that we can pop down if we don’t know what else to do for an early bite, or something light. Full disclosure — we have only sat the bar, ever — to eat! It’s a cool, groovy kind of place that is upscale décor but welcomes the casual diner.

3 drinks, one appetizer and one burger=$ 100. Including tip. It was all good but honest too expensive.

We came here after a movie for a mid-evening dinner. This is a relatively large, cavernous space, with almost three different dining areas(adjacent to the bar area, in a room around the corner, and a large cathedral ceiling space adjacent to this last one. It also has a bar area with bar tables and other seating. So, there are a lot of tables, and as such, I think the design and space is underwhelming. On the other hand, we really enjoyed the quality of the food. On this night, we opted simply for a short rib sandwich and blue cheese burger, but they were prepared very well and presented equally well. The service and attentiveness were very good; even the manager came over to inquire how everything was. So, four stars for food and service, but only maybe a two and a half for interior design and atmosphere. Nonetheless, a good addition to the local scene for a casual but quality dining experience.

This place was absolutely amazing! Went here on a whim with my boyfriend one day, and it exceeded expectations. Every single dish we ordered was delicious, from the shrimp appetizer to the fish tacos. It wasn’t even just ordinary dishes, each meal had a flavorful twist, and you could tell it was carefully crafted. Even the presentation was impressive. They are also huge on customer feedback, so we took a survey at the end of the meal. The menu changes often according to seasonality and what the people really enjoy. This is one of the few restaurants I have been to in nj that really deserves a 5.

The Mother’s Day menu and prices were not worth the trip over. The staff was a bit slow but my overall complaint was the food which was ok at best but not worth the $$$. A real classy place on the inside had young adults dressed is shabby brown jersey shirts instead of classy white dress shirts/blouses. Staff rushed back and forth hurried to meet the crowd demand even with reservations. I would try again not on a holiday.

I stumbled upon Uproot when the place I originally intended on going to for lunch was closed. I was impressed with the variety of menu options from salads, sandwiches, soups, tacos, burgers, and more. I started with the stir fry with general tso cauliflower, which was flavorful and a nice way to start the meal. Everyone at my table ordered salads and was happy with their choice, though we all felt that the beet and goat cheese salad was weighed down by excessive amounts of pesto. The service was quick and friendly and the food was great. I’ll definitely be back for lunch/dinner in the future.

I love Uproot, try to come here once a week! Nothing quite like it in the surrounding areas at all so it’s a fun option, the eclectic menu is exactly what the area needs! Would give it 5 stars but I wish they had more daily specials during lunch then just a soup. I love their menu but while going so often I’d like some more choices. Tacos are killer, try them all! The kale salad topped with salmon is my go to, lets be honest with a side of their truffle fries as well. If you have a sweet tooth order the house made donuts, so warm and fluffy you really really won’t regret it.

My boyfriend and I ventured to Uproot last night and absolutely EVERYTHING about our experience was fantastic! The ambiance and décor are impressive the second you walk in. The menu has an eclectic selection to choose from that’s sure to please everyone — well, adults and children that are not picky, anyways. The drink and dessert selections did not disappoint either. And the service… Top-notch! Our server was attentive, but not annoyingly so. Our water glasses were never empty, and our plates were cleared immediately between courses. I highly recommend the Mofongo(appetizer), the hanger steak, carnitas tacos, and the éclair dessert, which was the special, but I’m sure it’ll be around because it was amazing. Usually, I it’s hard to be so completely satisfied by a place, but Uproot is hands down, one of the best places I have ever been to.

Had such a great time at Uproot last night! It was our first time there and we went with another couple for dinner around 730 on a Friday night. The restaurant is very big and spread out and has an upbeat vibe with music playing at a decent volume, but you can still talk to one another. For appetizers we ordered the mofongo, spinach dip and the tator tots. All three were fantastic and lived up to our expectations. For dinner we had the camarones tacos, which has shrimp in it and the carnitas tacos. My shrimp tacos were delicious. They give you a choice of 3 or 4 tacos. They are on the smaller side. All the tacos had delicious flavor! Moving on to my favorite part of dinner — dessert! Our friends kept telling us to wait until desert and were they right! We ordered the donuts and the sticky buns to share! OMG they were amazing! The donuts were so fresh and soft! I cannot wait to go back again! I would have given them five stars but our waiter forgot to our order the baby’s food so it came out very late…

It’s always a pleasure to find a hidden gem near my home. Uproot is a terrific, good looking place that is indeed, hidden. Many Unilocalers have commented on the location. We had to call to find out where we had gone wrong. We showed up for a late lunch. Several folks were still sitting outside. We were the only ones inside. A dozen BBQ wings for my son. Fries. A rare burger with caramelized onions and onion rings for me. A Brooklyn Blast IPA was an excellent choice of beverage. My son loved the wings and fries. My burger, a blended affair from John’s Meat Market of Scotch Plains, was very tasty and rare as I asked. The onions were properly caramelized and the onion rings were really good. As is customary, I brought home some treats for my wife. Pulled pork tacos with chilies, cilantro and fried potatoes. Just delicious. We really liked it here and can’t wait for a return visit.

Note they are closed Sundays. Uproot is in an odd location, isolated in the middle of the A&P plaza(intersection of Warrenville Road and Mountain Boulevard). Look for the Chase Bank, its behind it. The best I can describe the interior is upscale classy modern. Its kept very clean. There’s a bar area, which has high tables you can sit at. There is a separate restaurant area as well. The staff has always been fantastic, especially the bar staff. There were 3 different types of tacos on the menu, and for each you can order 2 or 3. The fish tacos were recommended to me, and they were outstanding! Happy hour is Monday-Friday from 3 – 7. There’s a special happy hour menu for food and drinks. Can’t beat $ 4 glasses of wine! Some nights they have specials. Mondays are discounted wine nights, and Thursdays are Taco and Tequila nights — $ 3 tacos and $ 7 patron margaritas. Its one of my new favorite places in the Warren area.

GETTHESTIRFRY. Alright, let’s rewind. When I walked in, I was very surprised by the décor, but I loved it. It’s very modern and different. The menu was eclectic as well. I’m not sure why, but we were both extremely thirsty, and the sparkling water we had hit the spot. For an appetizer, we had the steak and eggs. You can’t go wrong with breakfast for dinner. For my entrée, I had the stir fry with shrimp. It was absolutely delicious. You can get a smaller or larger portion. I had the larger portion and shared it, and we still had some leftovers. The menu consists of burgers, paninis, sandwiches, etc., although don’t let the food options fool as you, as it’s definitely upscale. There are other entrée choices as well. For dessert, we had the sugared doughnuts. Be prepared for a sugar high; you’ve been warned. On top of this, I tried one of their fun drinks(Made from Scratch – nice winter cocktail). The names of the drinks alone sold me. My date had a secret lemonade cocktail. It’s not on the menu, but it’s absolutely delicious. Fun little spot for a date or meeting with a couple of friends. Good for lunch or dinner.

The staff and kitchen have been on fire lately. Essentially delivering to guests Manhattan quality drinks and food. Quite a number of dishes and specialty cocktails were on par with ABC Kitchen. Go check them out. We’ve been eating here for about 5 years and this is the best of the seasonal menus and drinks to date. They’ve shortened the menu… Socal style tacos, concentrated meat and seafood dishes, tasty specialty cocktails really good specials. The only thing that I would change is they are still doing the purée type soups but that’s OK as the rest of the menus is awesome.
