A smaller place with a great atmosphere. Service was awesome and the food phenomenonal, truly a great stop for sushi. When in Ventura you should make a point to visit for delicious sushi.

I’m not from Ventura but this is the spot to go for sushi if you’re visiting or living here. The sushi was delicious. I tried the baked lobster rolls, the rolls with eels, jalapeño bombs, veggie rolls with no rice, edamame, and the tofu with almonds on top. Sounds like a lot but my family shares with everyone lol. Everything was great.

We really wanted to go to Banzai Marina but they were closed so we thought we would give this place a try, big mistake. Ordered a dinner combo with chicken teriyaki and sashimi. It started with miso soup, that had a strange smell and flavor, one sip and I just set it aside. The sashimi was not fresh, when you pick up a slice of fish and it stays is a bent shape it’s not fresh. I don’t particularly like teriyaki(why do Americans think that is Japanese?) I lived in Japan for many years and this is not Japanese food. If you like more authentic Japanese food, go to Bansai Marina.

I originally wanted to give it 3 stars, but I’m taking away one for good reason. Came in for date night since I’ve never tried this spot. Been to the Camarillo spot and liked it so I figured I might as well try this particular location. We started off with miso soup(decent) then some shumai and edamame. I advise you to skip both. Never order a Chinese dish in a Japanese restaurant owned by Koreans. No wonder the menu had udon. The shumai looked and tasted like it came from a box. The edamame had too much sauce. It was overwhelming. Couldn’t even taste the bean. We got 3 rolls. The cucumber, Ventura Roll and something forgettable that I forgot the name. I loved the cucumber roll. It tasted great and was super packed with whatever kind of fish was inside. The Ventura roll was delicious and I liked that it was a little spicy, but it had too much sauce. The other roll I didn’t care for. We ended with some green tea icecream which was enormous considering it was suppose to be one scoop. The service was pretty good. I liked our server. She was nice and attentive, but the reason I’m taking one star away is because she completely forgot about the salad I put in and didn’t even apologize for the mishap.

We are a family with a baby, so we didn’t really come here to look for a fancy experience, especially for a Saturday lunch. But here’s what I found(I ordered a dinner combination that comes with beef teriyaki, 3 pcs of sushi, Cali rolls, salad and miso soup): Food: bland. Teriyaki was not warm and sauce tasted somehow weird. Sushi wasn’t fresh. I didn’t really taste the fish. Unlike banzai marina, I could taste that the salad dressing was ready made. The California rolls were the most decent in the plate, but sorry, who can be wrong with making them? And it’s $ 18! Services: so so. Our server was ok. But overall, not a very friendly service. We came with a stroller, and they didn’t know where to put us 1st. I am Japanese from Japan, and they are obviously not. Sometimes it can tell you something.(Well, the ethnic background probably doesn’t matter as long as you love the food you serve though.)

Great new sushi spot on Main. Been eyeing this place since it opened and I’m happy to say it’s a thumbs up! :) Décor: 5 stars– spacious but plenty of seating. Also a high top sushi bar located in the back. Plenty of fresh flowers and orchids aligning the walls & tables, visually it’s a very pretty restaurant but still maintains a casual feel. Service: 5 stars– our waitress was extremely friendly & kind. Everyone here was friendly, our drinks were often refilled and food came out in a timely manner but didn’t feel rushed to leave or pay etc. Food: 4 stars– all in all good sushi at a decent price. Also the menu is very extensive, something for everyone. Also a tasty looking cocktail menu. Great sake, mixed drinks, and beers. *Ocean Roll: a favorite, fresh salmon sushi, spicy tuna, and seaweed salad on top, what’s not to love?. *Spicy Scallop Roll: it was«ok». Fresh but I prefer that roll particularly to be a little creamer with sauce, was a little bland. I would often for something else next time. *Vegetable Udon Soup: YUM! Great broth & veggie mix. Give this business a try you won’t be disappointed. The service and extensive menu alone will keep me coming back.

My husband and I came to visit this sushi house right when they opened after taking over the Indian restaurant. It’s a small place right on the corner of California and Main St. I love the vibe and the service has always been great. The first time we ate there we sat right at the sushi bar and our waitress was quick with our drinks. I’m currently pregnant so I couldn’t partake in my usual assortment of nigiri sushi, but my husband ordered a few different items and really enjoyed everything he got. I stuck to the typical California Roll and anything that was fish-free. The rolls are quite large so I would recommend ordering a couple to start then go from there. The fish is always fresh whenever we’ve come and I am always eager to visit again.

The two piece sushies are on the pricier end but everything we got tasted great! If you’re like me and you love salmon, I recommend you try the Omega 3 roll! Note: Our chef put wasabi in all our sushi… if you don’t like your sushi like that you might want to let them know.

Camarillo masa is my favorite spot! I went down town ventura. Wow! I found out masa has 2nd place! I decided to try masa sushi! Steff was very friendly and food was extremely good! I had amber jack, halibut sushi and Spanish mackerel sushi! Really fresh, rice was perfectly cooked! Also the udon was very tasty! If I visit ventura down town, I will definitely come back! If you want to have fresh sushi, I recommend masa sushi! Come try!

More like 2.5 stars but I rounded up! This review is specifically just for the spicy ramen and nothing else. They used instant ramen most likely. Spicy was hardly even mild. If you’re craving ramen, skip this joint and go to sushi fresh in Ventura for Tonkutsu ramen. Otherwise, come here and just stick to the Grilled Saba ;)

YOUWON’T BEDISAPPOINTED! I just finished up a sumptuous meal that was more appetizer than sushi(the appetizers were just so good!); the kitchen at Masa is at least as good as the sushi bar! The fish is incredibly fresh, coming out of nearby Santa Barbara port, and the clever flavor profiles of the dishes wowed again and again. The staff was super friendly, and the sushi chef even made a game of translating our names to Chinese, while we waited for our appetizers. The timing was a little slower than I would like, as they brought out the appetizers one by one, but the wait was only barely noticeable. I have eaten at many sushi restaurants all around the US(and some overseas), in the North, East, South, and West, but this tiny, brand-new sushi fusion restaurant is simply a can’t miss! One of the best establishments I’ve ever had the pleasure to dine in. Be warned, though, the building is smallish(café sized), so larger parties may have to reserve in advanced.

Sometimes I get a hankering for sushi much like I imagine a pregnant woman does for pickles, Limburger cheese, canned cheese whiz, or whatever. This was me the other night, so I made a solo recon mission to check out this new sushi spot for fish quality, atmosphere, service, and the coldness of the beer. All important details, I assure you. I tried a variety of sushi, including salmon, yellowtail, amberjack, and albacore. I rounded out the meal with a Fire Cracker roll, a crab & shrimp hand roll, and a large beer. All perfectly acceptable. I’d call this a great date sushi spot, intimate tables, soothing atmosphere, quiet, with great people watching opportunities thanks to its downtown location at the corner of Main & California streets. By the way, I could have consumed more, but I already resemble that pregnant woman I referenced earlier, so I opted for restraint(this time).

Wasn’t too particular on what we were going to have for dinner, so when we drove by Masa looking for parking, since it was a new place we decided to give it a try. I’m a bit biased because I really liked the previous restaurant that was once opened here, so deep down inside I was bitter coming in. *tear– My hubs and I were seated right away. When you enter your greeted with a very loud Japanese welcoming from the entire staff, it’s very inviting. They have tables or the option to sit at the sushi bar. The restaurant is on the smaller side which probably fits maybe 40 people. Good for large groups/parties? Probably not. The sound really echoes within the establishment let’s just say, my neighboring patrons had some interesting conversations… The servers are pretty attentive. I felt bad because there’s so many options on the menu, I had to ask for a few minutes, a few times. Once we ordered the food was out pretty quickly. Here’s what we ordered: Edamame: Steamed with a sprinkle-sprankle of salt, but not too salty. They have a garlic edamame option, we originally ordered that, but this was probably an oversight by the server. The edamame was really fresh and tasty. Fresh(caught this morning) Blue Fin Tuna: 2 slices of raw fish over rice. My husband ordered 2 rounds, he says it was amazing and you can taste the freshness. Spicy Lancaster Roll: Shrimp tempura, crab, spicy tuna, avocado, radish sprouts, lettuce, smelt egg, cucumber. –plain Jane, I wouldn’t order it ever again. Playboy Roll: Smoked salmon, avocado, cream cheese inside and shrimp on top. –AMAZING. Shrimp Killer Roll: Shrimp tempura, crab meat, avocado inside and shrimp in top(oh&hi added cream cheese and jalapeños) — just keep these comin’…so, so yummy. All of my faves, in one bite… although the I would add a dab of Sriracha, and call it a day. I would like to come back to try any of their rice entrées and or soup options(Ramen or Udon). Needless to say we walked out feeling like Oompa Loompa’s… This place is definitely on our date night radar…

This is our first time trying out this new restaurant. We definitely miss Bollywood but here we are! We ordered 2 appetizers to start with. I was curious how’d Japanese restaurant make Chinese dim sum shumai. Not to my surprise, it was definitely nothing I expected(if you had dim sum before, you’d know what I’m talking about). It’s totally from the package. The size and taste and look is all wrong. Oh well, it’s totally my fault to order Chinese food in a Japanese restaurant opened by Koreans. My fault!!! Then we had soft shell crab, it was a really small portion, comparing to all the Japanese restaurants in the area. However, grilled saba(mackerel), omega 3 roll and daisy roll turned out pretty good! We enjoyed them a lot! The service and ambient was awesome! I understand that this is a new restaurant and it needs improvement. I’d not hesitate to come back again!

So pleased to see a new restaurant in a great downtown location! The staff was attentive, the environment clean and appealing, and the food excellent. The«White Tiger» roll was HUGE and was covered in ever-so-light crispy onions that you could put on virtually anything and it would taste great. In addition, they thoughtfully provided a complimentary tofu appetizer that was out of this world. The servers were full of smiles and suggestions. I will be back!

Attention serious Sushi Lovers!!! Just finished up a huge dinner with family, was not disappointed! Bring you’re biggest appetite because there are SO many options for sushi, sashimi, hand rolls etc. omg! It usually only takes me a second to write out a few rolls I want but in This case Masa Sushi’s thick menu was full of all kinds of different rolls I haven’t heard of which was super pleasantly surprising and exciting to read what was in each one. We ordered appetizers, four different rolls and dessert. Appetizer was vegetable tempura — nice, extremely lightly battered which is very important to us as none of us enjoy over greasy anything! Nice light crunchy texture and great for groups of four to start off with.(Calamari looked amazing but will try next visit) Crunch roll– BEAUTIFUL, as it was place on our table that’s the first thing I noticed. How beautiful it was made(see pics!) great with soy. Black dragon roll– Cali roll BAKED inside with eel and avocado, very fresh tasting and perfect for first time sushi eaters if they want something non traditional and a bit fancy. Loved it, no soy needed. White tiger roll– spicy tuna Inside white tuna with almost like a caramelized onion on top-it smells amazing, it’s like BBQ meets sushi. Must have. No soy needed. ****Y2k Roll**** you must have this. It’s crab, avocado inside salmon on top. My favorite-loved every layer of flavor and texture. Will most likely be what I get every single time. Great with soy, or without. Of course we had to have Mochi for dessert and they serve it with whipped cream(traditional) that was the icing on my cake experience. The place is located heart of downtown. small, no outdoor seating With indoor sushi bar as well as dining areas, no booths just tables and chairs, with nice décor. Today was a Monday night we went, I think their were only two servers which made service slower at the end with more and more people showing up but please don’t let that turn you off, this place is a hit!
