We were looking for sushi place in the area and saw this place while passing by. As we were told the place is new, although looks like 50 years old with no Spring cleaning. Watered down soy sauce and old skilled taste pad Thai. Servers rushing and don’t even pretend to listen to the question they ask. Not impressed.

The service was absolutely horrendous. They rushed us by throwing down our main courses while we were still eating out appetizers. Then, then they cleared the plates while we were still eating. The restaurant was also ridiculously loud, which made it impossible to talk to each other. Getting drinks was also very difficult. Would recommend missing this one.

So we just had to go back 2 days later and I have to say, we are completely sold! This time we had the shrimp and vege tempura which were very good, the batter was light and crispy and just perfect; the duck spring rolls were absolutely amazing as well. We had a few different rolls which were really good… Just the right amount of rice and the fillings were all fresh and tasty. Can’t wait to go back next weekend!

The sushi was very good the service was not. Super slow & not friendly. Not the best sushi I have had but good so I would recommend. Don’t expect service with a smile though.

Meh just ok. I expected more. Kinda loud, food was quick, tvs show scrolling pics of the food(kinda weird). Service Ok, outside and inside seating. Appears to be good for big groups. There is better sushi out there, but fine in a pinch.

It was a cold and rainy night, last Saturday night down the shore. Nobody was around and we had the restaurant to ourselves. The food was very good and the service attentive. We both ordered the Salmon Teriyaki box dinner and a sushi roll appetizer. Like the song in The Lego Movie, «everything is awesome!» We will be back when we are down the shore again, probably in warmer weather though.

Only place open on a snowy Wednesday night, so we had no choice but to try it out. We were so glad we did! The sushi was some of the best and freshest we’ve ever had. I highly recommend the spicy kani salad and the Manhattan Roll. Service was excellent as well!

This place was great! Fresh, delicious. Spicy tuna, shrimp tempura appetizer, shumai… All great. Went with a friend who had never had sushi before and he loved it. Service was a bit slow, but it was worth the wait!

Very loud room. Poor quality. Garden salad was wilted with a white, mealy tomato on top. Sushi was cheap quality.

Was a little sceptic because the place was empty when we arrived, but sushi was good as well as the service. Place was clean and prices are fair; for $ 20 a person we had a lot of food.

The food I ordered was horrible. I actually ended up with food poisoning later on because of the tempura. The service was too slow. Took the server 15 minutes to give me my glass of water? Really now? The boss of Megu Sushi is a complete jerk also. I prefer Yama over Megu Sushi.

Decided to give this place a try after being a loyal patron to Yama sushi nearby all these years. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, a shrimp tempura roll, duck egg roll, rock shrimp tempura and a miso soup(I was hungry). Everything was awful. The duck roll reminded me of the TGI Fridays egg rolls you can get in the frozen foods section of your local supermarket. The miso soup tasted like warm ocean water and the two rolls had poor quality ingredients. Furthermore, the rock shrimp tempura was horrendous. It reminded me of the awful fried shrimp I got at Red Lobster one time. In conclusion, I do hope this restaurant turns itself around as I do whole heartedly want any new establishment in the lovely beach town of Ventnor to succeed. But until now, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Sushi was delicious and fresh. Prices are average, serving sizes are above average. We had the duck spring roll — tender and juicy and yummy! And we had a variety of sashimi(the Toro was amazing) and a couple of specialty rolls(King Kong Roll was huge and very tasty). The 4 stars are for the food, but the service was more like 2 stars. Slow and inattentive. We sat outside which was nice, but all of the tables out there(4 parties) were neglected by the staff. We had to get up at one point and go in to find somebody to help us. It didn’t ruin our experience but it was a little frustrating.

I have been to Megu twice at the Ventnor location. Both times the food has been good. The duck spring rolls are delicious but an order only comes with 1 that is cut in half. Besides that, most of the menu consists of sushi. I would say that its on the better half of sushi in the area. The fish is fresh and tender. The rolls are full and they don’t skimp on the pricier ingredients. The shop is pretty small. Both times I’ve been in, there was only 1 server/hostess and 1 sushi chef but the service is still good. My order was perfect the first time, but avocado was forgotten in my alaska roll the second time. When I called them to let them know, they remade my 2 rolls, threw in an appetizer, and offered to deliver. Great service recovery on their part and I will be going back to enjoy they’re food.

We have eaten at Megu Ventnor three times in the past 6 weeks. The sushi is fresh. Portion sizes good and prices very reasonable. Also, it’s a BYOB, I haven’t tried it in season so can’t address speed of service when the crowds are there.

Good sushi. Lobster rock roll and king crab roll were good. Tuna pizza had way too much avocado and was mushy. Worth ordering.

Went here on my birthday with some high hopes. I’d heard a few OK reviews, nothing stellar, but considering how close it is, I thought I’d give it a shot. Now I wish I’d saved my money and not wasted my time. The service is absolutely abysmal. It took almost 25 minutes for my fiancé and I to even be asked what we wanted to drink. Our waitress was impatient, and frankly, pretty uncaring. More than one request we made was completely ignored, and she never actually checked on us, we had to grab her attention each time. The décor was alright, but far too busy. Be prepared to stare at the one TV that constantly displays different pictures of the food they offer as you wait forever for even a morsel to appear. I also saw multiple tables supported by pieces of stacked cardboard. I expect better for these prices. The food itself was pretty varied. The back of the house seems to really know what they’re doing, our appetizers, soups and salads were amazing. The rock shrimp tempura was possibly the best I’ve ever had, sweet, perfectly fried with a pleasing kick that didn’t overwhelm the flavors. The sushi however was a different story. The eel in both mine and my fiancé’s dishes was FAR past fresh, and tasted both gritty and dry. And the calamari roll I ordered, thinking it an interesting and fresh idea, had clearly been remade from someone else’s order. Another point is that they’re prices just don’t seem to make sense. My fiancé ordered the volcano roll, which is spicy tuna, a small piece of avocado, and a drop of sriracha. The spicy tuna roll by itself is only four dollars, so how does the tiniest sliver of avocado and sriracha jump it up all the way to ten dollars? And when I asked for cream cheese to be added on to a roll, I was charged an additional two dollars a roll. That’s a fifty cent, one dollar addition at the very most, not two. Overall, if I ever did find my way back here, I would stick with back of the house dishes only, the sushi bar just doesn’t seem to know what it’s doing. And with Yama being right across the street, I just can’t find any reason to come here.

Had been contemplating trying this new Japanese place for a while now, and tonight we finally said why not, and ordered. We got habachi for dinner, steak and shrimp. They tasted good, but the meat was ordered medium rare and given to us well done, so that was one star knocked off, and then when we went to pick up the order, I tried to strike up conversation with the staff but they seemed disinterested and cold. Will definitely give it another shot, but for right now, I’d say OK food with average service. Yama is a safer bet across the street and down some blocks.

I was tired of Yama and took a chance on a new restaurant and I’m glad I did. The interior is sparkling clean and tastefully decorated, though we chose to sit in their outdoor seating area on Atlantic ave. the service was quick and courteous and most important delicious. I ordered the tiger shrimp, spicy crunchy tuna roll and california roll – it had that crisp fresh taste in sushi that is hard to define, but you know it when it’s not there. As a sushi addict, i ordered the same thing(they’re my favorite rolls) by delivery and it was lightning fast(literally arrived in under 15 minutes) and was just as scrumptious as the night before. As an avid afficionado of sushi I recommend this place highly. The slip said«mordern Japanese restaurant» which is obviously a misspelling, but I thought it was funny.
