I love Undergrounds, they have probably one of the most comfortable layouts of any coffee shop in the area with multiple couches and leather chairs(plus plenty of outlets!) On top of that they have a super friendly staff ran primarily on a volunteer bases that I’ve throughly enjoyed getting to know as I’ve visited. And to top it off they offer great coffee(with manual brew methods!) with fun signature drinks popping in every once in awhile.

Plain hot latte is my drink of choice and it was smooth and bold. Good roast, grind size, and extraction. They serve their drinks quite hot, and I believe this led to losing some of the foam’s integrity(similar to foam I can make at home with my $ 50 machine), but texture aside, it was a great drink.

I’m not religious, but gawd damn this place has some pretty tasty coffee. Set below the church, this rather large coffee house with ample seating both inside and out, serves your standard faire. Had a vanilla latte… both smooth and bold. I’ll definitely be back.

The Lord works in mysterious ways and he makes pretty good coffee. Set below the hipster new thought christian church that is obviously a thriving«business» based on the size of this building . Very nice staff and a tasty iced vanilla latte on a very hot day. As long as they don’t shave my head and take all my worldly possessions I will be back for more tasty coffee.

WARNING! This is a hidden gem. Yes, its under a Church. No, there is no religious messages anywhere inside and yes, what a great find. Lets just say that I promise you that this is one of the most unique places that I’ve been to in the SCV, never knew it was there all this time, yes, I’m fired! Its just a huge coffee house but I promise you again, it BLOWS away any Starbucks out here. No, you’re not gonna get the massive amount of choices like a Starbucks but what you will get is an inviting home feeling where you can sit on a couch and be cool(temperature) without heavy traffic if you know what I mean. They have super fast wifi too… FYI, they are eventually relocating to the jinked location where Cuvee and many more places have died. The new place hopefully won’t have that same fate, I’d they do, hopefully they’ll move back under the Church.

Undergrounds has made two key improvements that now allow me to give them 5 stars. First, they’ve changed coffee providers from Groundworks to Off the Leaf. Second, they now are offering a free cupping class on Tuesdays at 11 am. The next closest place I know of that offers free cupping is Bar Nine all the way in Culver City. I had never heard of Off the Leaf, but after the cupping, I could tell they were legit. The atmosphere is comfortable and laid back and they sometimes have local musicians perform. Until House Roots reopens in Valencia, I’m going to declare Undergrounds the best coffee in the area!

Your phone isn’t malfunctioning; Under Grounds is below the church. I was pleasantly surprised by this nice coffee shop with a sophisticated atmosphere and incredibly competitive prices. I ordered a pour-over coffee and was given my choice of bean. The young lady was very friendly, and when she emerged with an entire tray containing a chemex carafe, sugar, stirrers, and cream I was blown away. With service, smiles, and quality, why go to a big box coffee shop with a drive through when you can relax and enjoy a hand crafted brew in a calming environment?

Delicious Moroccan mint green iced tea! Friendly service too. Indoor area where you can work or surf. Outdoor seating too.

Staff is excellent. They are located in my Church and offer most coffee and tea you would find at any other coffee shop but with the service and smiles you would expect. Always a pleasure to stop by and get something before my Sunday service.

The coffee here is so good! The proceeds go to a non profit so the coffee is cheaper than anywhere else I go. I got a white mocha and I would dare say it’s the best white mocha I’ve ever had. Even though it’s in a church they’re open during the week. Such a cool little place, I’ll definitely be coming here again!

Coffee is amazing. Doesn’t feel like a church inside. People are so nice. Way better than crappy Starbucks.

ATTENTION: This is a real church coffee shop! I didn’t know this, and made a coffee date with a friend here. It was a sunday morning and she and I sat in our yoga pants and caught up on the last 15 years of our lives. I mean we were talking about girl stuff, love lives, drama, heartbreaks and all kinds of other real life stuff while parishioners were trying to get their church on. We had NOIDEA! Everyone was very nice and didn’t seem to mind us, but wow, did we have to edit our stories for this venue! We eventually took our gab session to the bar at the Mexican restaurant across the way, but this was a LESSONLEARNED! Coffee and scones are delicious here by the way! And they price them according to suggested donation.

Somehow they have perfected the balance between a solely volunteer staff and a solid, consistent crew of baristas. Five stars for the Agave latte!

Pretty good place. Located downstairs in Real Life Church. The barista did latte art on our drinks. They run on suggested donations and use coffee that supports charity. It has a very laid back vibe

Coffee was really good and the scones were actually moist! Almost like the top of a muffin or a donut. Had the hazelnut haven and hubby had the java chip frappé. AC that works and lots of tables and chairs to sit or lounge. Nice and clean place. Free wifi. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

This place is honestly pretty good, better than Starbucks in my opinion Some nights they have live music and it’s a nice place to hang with friends Relaxed atmosphere, big tables, and good drinks and food

It was my first time here and the workers were very nice and informative of their coffees and what the money spent is for. I really admired how the money for the coffee is donated to charities. There’s plenty of parking and it is on the lower level of Real Life Church. The prices are easy on the wallet and worth the serving given. I got the brew of the day and it was a bit on the stronger side but I’d say it’s worth visiting again to try their other different brews. I wouldn’t say that it’s a good place for big groups because it is pretty quiet inside and it seems to be a popular place for people to come and study. I don’t know if it’s because it was a rainy day when I came but Undergrounds is a nice place to come and relax when you want alone time or even quality time with a friend or two.

If you’re looking for a new coffee spot, this is it! It’s a spacious place with high and low tables, as well comfortable couches; the lighting is also good. I hate going to a café to study and the lights are really dim that it also puts me to sleep; but not here. Undergrounds café has great coffee and tea selection. I recommend the hazelnut haven hot coffee, it was delicious! I thought it would be a bit more quiet to make my reading easier but it wasn’t as quiet as I thought. Other than that my experience was great. I would definitely come back but I would leave my reading at home.
