Babytuna Sushi

I raved about this place when it first opened! I love the food! But the more I went, especially in the evenings with my family, the worse it got! TERRRRRRRRRRRIBLE service!!! We stared at our kids while we got our sushi and the had nothing for about 15 minutes! It feels like it’s family owned and they don’t know what they are doing. I had a little boy running my credit card to check out! That doesn’t comfort me.
After a couple times of ordering over the phone 20 minutes before I needed it because I have a shot lunch… It wasn’t ready and I spent 30 minutes more waiting for it only to find it wrong! That was my last straw! They were lacking in quality and service! Sad to say… I won’t be going back ;(

This place easily gets 5 stars in my book, the fish quality is amazing. Not only do they offer an excellent variety of fish they also have the best Albacore in the valley. Now fair warning when this place gets busy-​it gets busy, service will be slow and so will food serving times.
If you want the fastest service times I recommend going in when both Yaya and Eddie are working, one of them is always there because the rest of the chefs are still training under them.
Past that service is never rude but can be unattentive at times, this is especially prevalent in newer staff members but that is to be expected. All in all better the Sushi 661 and Mr. Sushi combined!

Food is good but service is always slow. The slow service is why we don’t come here more often. Disappointing!

This is my favorite sushi place in the entire world! Ya Ya and Jimmy and Jay are the BEST. They always know what I want everytime I come in. The mussels are sooooo goooddd. Fast and attentive service. The rolls are good sizes! I will recommend this place a million times over

Definitely the best sushi place in town! Too bad everyone else has the same opinion though because it’s always packed which can create slower service, that is the only down side. Yaya is the most popular chef! He’s our favorite too. Wherever he goes, he has a following. All the sushi here is so delicious, good quality, fresh and cut perfectly. My favorite menu item is the salmon toro!

Everyone (who likes sushi) wants their local sushi spot to be awesome and Baby Tuna rocks! We frequently have to do «take out» but eating there is a delight with fresh great tasting sushi and awesome severs. I don’t often eat rolls but have tried and enjoyed several that their menu offers. They even offer some great beer choices like Japanese Echigo.

Wife and I are a fan of the little sushi place. The sushi quality is high and the service is good.

Not only is the fish quality top notch but the service is amazing! All the sushi chefs are always in such a great mood and they make the sushi so fast!

We’ve been here so many times ever since they open. We love their ayce.
Bake mussel was good. Not your typical cream. it has cream n ponzu sauce… lightened it up a bit.
We usually get sushi of salmon, octopus, yellowtail, halibut, albacore.
As for rolls we get 911 roll, iron man, mexican, red dragon, luis.
It was yumm… variety of fillings and taste.
Yes their service could be bad at times… especially busy on weekends. So we come during the week before dinner rush to get better service.
I also like them because they are run by my fellow countryman. They should work on some improvements… but I think this is their first business. So I can totally relate. And try to be more patient.

Update: We came back and the service was noticeably better. We got our food right away and the servers were very responsive. No one went hungry today!
They have the worst service ever! We have eaten at this restaurant 5 – 6 times now, because it is so close to our house. Every time we have gone we have had slow service, but today it has taken 31 mins for my kids to get rice!!! At 20 mins in the only waitress walked up and asked if I was waiting for any sushi… No my kids and I are just sitting at an empty table for our health!
They need to fix this place!

Honestly, it’s not that good, I am sorry. I really am trying to like this place. Went there last night with my cousin (Monday). The place was empty (first 15 min), perfect. The staff is very nice, even the two waitresses… very nice. However it takes FOREVER to get e piece of sushi. The sushi was ok, I had salmon drenched in salt (may be to cover the flavor). I like to eat sushi, I rarely ever eat a roll. I never order from the kitchen, or eat any of that other stuff, I love fish, I love sushi.
It takes forever to get a piece, and once the restaurant got busy we barely received any food. I like when the Chef sometimes recommends something, or you allow him to make his specialty. After waiting some time, I see him whipping stuff in a bowl, mind you all we have ordered to this point is fish, and fish only…“what is that”…his response «Japanese pizza»…are you serious??? You see me eating sushi, why would you make pizza… what does that have to do with sushi? i was tired of waiting, we paid and left.
My cousin likes the place, I am not going back… sorry Babytuna, but you take forever, and then the last part (Japanese Pizza), did it for me. Good Luck.

Salmon we ordered was bad and tasted like ammonia. Other tables had the same problem. When we told the waiter, she said it was fresh and «its a good one» lol. Whatever that is supposed to mean. Wont go back here again!

There are four sushi restaurants in SCV that I classify as being the best and Baby Tuna is one of them. The fish is always fresh, staff is always friendly, and price is reasonable. I just brought my children to try Japanese food for the first time and they loved it.

We went back there with a party of five about a month ago on a Saturday night for all you can eat sushi, service was so unreasonably slow. We got our water 30 minutes after we were seated and we waited an hour and half for our food.
We had good experience with them before when they’re not busy at all but not this last time we went when they had a full house. We have not been back since and we are not planning to go back for a very long time.

Went back for a second time. I was amazed with the quality of the sushi. It was better than the first time. I sat at the sushi bar and was thoroughly impressed with the service this time around. This was a great day and I look forward to returning for more dead fish! Well done!

I’ve lost count on how many times we’ve driven by this restaurant on the way to drop off my daughter at Kumon and to go to the dry cleaners next door, so obviously when we finally had time on a Saturday evening we decided to try it out for dinner.
Upon entering the restaurant, it’s your total local sushi joint. Not a large space, but quaint enough to probably hold 50 people. Now the reason I am knocking off 2 stars is mostly for service reasons. They really need more help. Our waitress sat us down, then while we were reading our menu she sat next to us to take her break and eat her dinner. Ok, I totally get it she must be starving and hasn’t had a break. So now we’re ready to order and I politely ask her if she can take our order. I felt bad interrupting her dinner.
20 minutes went by before our kids got their udon. Another 10 minutes we get our first roll. Then they forgot my husband’s order. So by now its been 45 minutes into dinner, my kids are ancy and want to go home. So we ask for the check, and the sushi dude behind the bar says oh your food is almost ready. I’m out of patience by this time, but the sushi dude is very persistent and promises the food will be out. So we were nice about the whole situation and waited for the food.
Unfortunately, I probably won’t be ordering from this place in the near future. It was just to painful of a dinner at 5PM.

We’ve been back a few times since the soft opening. Eddie, Yaya and Jimmy keep upping their game! Now has an excellent selection of sake also!

With out a doubt the best Sushi in the Santa Clarita Valley. Go see Jimmy and Eddie, you won’t be disappointed. These guys are really good at what they do.
Jimmy catered our Holiday Party last night and did a fantastic job, couldn’t believe it, it was that good!!!
