You can thank your staff for this review. We’ve been ordering from this place for 18 months on eat24 with no problem. Now all of a sudden you want to tell me you’re too busy so tonight«I’m too far for delivery» and refuse to let me speak to a manager? Great way to lose loyal customers real fast!

Ordered delivery from here last night. We were happy that they would actually deliver to us(we live pretty far up in the hills). The prices were a bit high — but that is typical for a decent sushi place. We ordered two sushi combinations and one spicy tuna roll. Food arrived in a timely manner — no complaints there. Presentation was lovely. Sushi seemed good — my husband, my daughter and I thought we had found a new spot. However, I woke up this morning with severe stomach pains. I’ve been sick now for a few hours. My husband has also started to not feel well. The quality was obviously not as good as we had thought. We won’t be ordering from them again.

Went here for the first one on a Monday. Happy hour all day Monday FYI. Service is great. Food selection for happy hour was okay. Prices for happy hour were ok. Food was good! Salmon sashimi was thick and yummy. Godzilla roll was so good if you like cream cheese. Not sure if I would go back again but if you enjoy rolls then go here!

A good Sushi spot when in this area… Service is prompt and friendly. I am a sushi fan, okay freak! And this little place does the trick when in this area. I am not big on rolls, but hubby and son say they are good. The Snow White roll is especially tasty! It’s different than anything I have ever had anywhere else. I like that. Also, the cucumber and Sashimi roll is fresh and delish, hubby likes their tempura.

The food ain’t gonna kill you but the wait will. Only order from this place if you’re a) not hungry b) have a few hours to kill before you get hungry c) every single god-damn place is close. I don’t even know why they say they deliver? The time it takes for them to get to your place i can farm my own damn salmon and roll that up myself. Seriously, for a mediocre sushi joint the LEAST you can do is have great service. It took them over 2 hours to deliver(mind you this is my second time trying them), first time it took over 1 hour. Average Food but below Average Service. I decided to try this place out for lunch. I saw many positive reviews and figured why not. I was excited to see a full restaurant during the lunch hour. This usually means good things. When I entered the restaurant, I was not greeted. I stood there while servers walked around me without saying a word. I began to get very agitated at this but the place was busy so I decided to be patient. Then a couple entered the eatery, was greeted, and immediately seated. At some point, someone noticed me standing in the middle of the floor and I was finally seated. For service this bad, I expect excellent sushi to balance out the experience. It did not happen. The spicy tuna was average. It could have been fresher in my opinion. The rolls were loose with really sweet sauce. If I ever returned, I would ask for no sauce.

Their sushi was ok although I’ve definitely had better. I don’t think I would come back. It’s too generic for me. I don’t feel like they have anything special here and for its price, I would rather pay a little more for top notch grade A sushi. I mean their sushi isn’t bad, it’s just generic. It isn’t top grade. Come for the sushi rolls but it’s not worth it for chirashi or sashimi. Their uni quality is also not worth the price here. I don’t want to say the quality is bad because it is bearable but it’s not good quality seafood. Sushi connoisseurs beware!

We have been here twice in two weeks, it’s that good. We had Calamari, Sexy Lady, Marilyn Monroe and the mini sashimi, salmon. The salmon was some of the best I’ve ever had, so fresh it almost melted in your mouth. Service is very good and the food is excellent. I’m already thinking about what I’ll eat next time I’m there. Décor was relaxing food came out quickly and everybody there were super friendly. i highly recommend this place. All the right things were right on, food, service & sushi was excellent.

If you’re looking for a non-authentic White sushi place go to Gohan. They clearly caters to White people who are not familiar with traditional Japanese sushi. I mean the rolls are named, Marilyn Monroll, Three Amigos, 911 roll, etc. You’ll find none of these rolls in a Japanese run sushi bar. Furthermore, a lot of the rolls were deep fried which makes me question their fish quality. The sashimi wasn’t fresh and it was served at a questionable temperature. Gohan basically serves store bought fish coated in mayonnaise and teriyaki sauce. There are many authentic Japanese restaurants in OC, do yourself a favor and don’t waste your money here like I did.

Good food with good customer service. It’s never crowded at this hidden sushi gem. Happy Hour changed though. It’s from 4PM — 8PM. Monday all day. The Sumo will was okay. Too much sauce. The mussels are really good, but kind of sweet. Only come on two pieces. With they have more for one order. I like the Godzilla, Marilyn Monroe. Great place to get sushi in the Tustin area.

Do you want Gohan Sushi summed up in one word? Here you go: mediocrity. This was the pinnacle of…‘meh’. We arrived at around 6:50pm on a Saturday with plenty of room at the sushi bar, which should have been a sign that maybe the sushi bar wasn’t the place to be at this particular restaurant. We were given a happy hour menu that took 9 minutes to order from(luckily, our waitress took our order at 6:59, a minute before HH ended). Which was oddity #1, because in most other places I go, when you sit at a sushi bar, there’s interaction. You can order through the sushi chefs(sometimes), make banter, offer a beer, etc. Not here. There wasn’t a single word from the sushi chefs to the patrons, which made it awkward to say the last. Happy hour pricing was decent, at least. Sapporo for $ 2.49 a mug, or $ 9.99 for a pitcher. $ 3 for two piece of crispy rice with spicy tuna. About $ 3.49 for 6 pieces of gyoza. $ 5.49 for tuna tataki. And $ 6.49 each for te 911 roll and Marilyn Monroll. The best part of the meal was the gyoza. Tasted good, and the vinegar sauce stuff was great. Except… wait. We’re in a sushi joint. And the best stuff was the gyoza? Weird. The crispy rice was decent, and the tuna tataki was completely forgettable. The 911 roll has spicy tuna and some sort of house sauce. The house sauce was sweet, and completely overpowered the roll. The Marilyn Monroll also has a special sauce, so like the 911 roll, you can’t really taste what’s inside. And to make things more weird, the Monroll aftertaste is kind of coffee-ish. Ugh. All in all, the price wasn’t terrible. $ 35 for all that food plus two beers. It’s just… the food wasn’t that good. Doubt I’ll be back.

Food was pretty darn, especially the deal you get during happy hour. Minus 1 star for the lack of service and parking(came around 6:30 pm and the lot was already full. Friends got here first and we joined them afterwards. Tried ALMOST everything on the happy hour menu and was not disappointed. If you need descriptions, the regular menu provides it thoroughly. Total for 5 people was around $ 70(no alcohol though).

This review is not based on the food here, which I have always found to be pretty good. This review is totally based on two recent experiences in which I was not able to get any food to complain about. I meet a friend here every Tuesday night for happy hour but, a couple of Tuesdays ago, when we arrived the restaurant was closed. There was a note on the door informing that the restaurant would be closed on Tuesdays from now on. No big deal… but it would have been nice to see some prior postings or warnings. Since Tuesday was obviously out of the question, we decided to go back on Friday night… big mistake!!! What greeted us on the door was a sign that read«We’ll be open 5:20…no, 6:30, sorry for inconvenience». We decided that maybe they were having a problem that was causing them not to open. So, we decided to run some errands and kill an hour before returning. BIGMISTAKE!!! Upon returning we saw the same note that had been crossed out with a later time. The restaurant has pretty blacked out windows so this time I tried to look in. I could clearly see the T.V.‘s on and could hear laughter. If you are going to have a private party just say that the restaurant is closed for the evening. Customers would understand! I, on the other hand, wasted an hour trying to eat in your establishment. All I can say is that, luckily, Orange Roll is a few blocks away. They had a wait for 25 min or so but, at least they were open. We ended up going to Thai Wave Bistro that is next to Orange Roll. They have great food too!!! BOTTOMLINE… If you plan on going to Gohan call to see if they are open! If no one answers, go to Orange Roll. I hate leaving negative reviews but, I just feel like this is a total disrespect to customers!!! If you are going to close fine but, do the the honorable thing and inform your customers!

Came in around 8:30pm on a Friday night and surprisingly it was pretty quiet and empty aside from maybe 2 – 3 other tables. They have appetizers, nigiri, sashimi, rolls, hand rolls, kitchen food such as teriyaki, udon, yakisoba, and so on. What we ordered: –Agedashi Tofu –Vegetable tempura udon –3 amigos roll w/soy paper –Las Vegas roll I’ve only had agedashi tofu once before and it had a slight crunch to it but the one from here was just straight up mush which I did not like. Literally, we had to ask for spoons in order to eat it. I did however, really enjoy my vegetable tempura udon. It was a very simple bowl but with a good amount of soup and noodles. I also appreciated that the six pieces of vegetable tempura came on the side instead of in the soup. You can also get a mix of vegetable and shrimp tempura together but it’s about $ 2 more. Service was on point. Our waitress refilled our waters and made sure everything was okay a few times during our meal. I wouldn’t mind coming back to try their happy hour menu next time!

I came here on Sunday at 4pm after reading reviews, seeing pictures and a poster outside advertising that Gohan offered happy hour all day Monday and 4−7pm on all other days. Upon arrival, we asked for a happy hour menu and were told that they don’t do happy hour on the weekends any longer. Even though we were disappointed with this revelation, we wanted to give it a shot. The food here was ok for price. It was a little more expensive than our usual Orange Roll Sushi but didn’t have the quality to match. Nothing was especially stand out. My one gripe with the sushi besides that is was a average was that the seaweed was extremely chewy. If you like the price point of Gohan, go to Orange Roll Sushi a couple streets over and enjoy a quality meal.

Great food, great service, great time! As always, I was leery about steering from my norm… but this time it 100% paid off. Gohan’s menu is rather large, so there’s lots to choose from. We stuck to the sushi menu mostly, as well as the happy hour menu. If you want to check it out without having a typical sushi bill($$), hit up Gohan for their Happy Hour between 4p-7p everyday. You can chose items from apps to rolls to beers; they also offer mini sashimi plates too as part of the Happy Hour menu! The fish was all fresh & delicious! We enjoyed some sashimi and nigiri as well as a few rolls. I wish I could name specific rolls, but we tried so many!(not to mention tried many bottles of sake & Asahi, haha) The rolls were interesting and not all of them come with the typical seaweed wrap. They have basic rolls as well as special rolls. The oyster shooter was really really good! Their Uni was also really delicious. At the end of our meal, we finally convinced the chefs to have a sake bomb with us. I have a feeling next time they might let their hair down more. All in all, had a wonderful experience at Gohan and can’t wait to return for more! PS. Chefs K and Champ are awesome!

Happy hour: everyday from 4pm to 7pm but ALLDAY on Monday. This includes some rolls for $ 7 and 50% beer. This is your place for Americanized sushi rolls, not authentic as it’s not Japanese owned. Nonetheless, it’s a great option for happy hour for cheap rolls and beer. I ordered 3 or 4 rolls and they all taste similar with the typical eel sauce, spicy mayo, crunchy flakes, avocado, spicy tuna, etc. Service was excellent, we got inside the restaurant around 6:57 pm and there was a wait but they allowed us to order from HH menu if we ordered immediately upon being seated.
