Their food, this place, oh my goodness, just love love love it!!! I just can’t believe this chain finally landed in TX and oh man… Their food is simply delicioso!
First, their atmosphere is cool & neat and the portion size is huge and price is super decent, especially right now with their $ 3.99 special!!!
Their chicken is so tender & moist & never salty but seasoned well. Their yellow rice is really good and black beans are kind of on the bland side but hey, there needs to be a good balance in your diet right? I love plantains and they’ve got them and their corn fritters type things are so yummy, too. They also have handful of home made sauces!
Oh man, keep planting your stores around metroplex. I wanna become one of your franchisee!!! SO SO muy Bueno!

I finally tried this place they opened a location so close to home in The Colony.
I went on a Friday night I had limited amount of time for dinner so I couldn’t do an hour wait for a sit down type of restaurant.
I was actually impressed (especially considering the poor ratings they’ve received so far).
The inside had maybe 10 – 12 customers but the drive thru seemed to be pumping out cars the whole time we were there.
The entire staff could not have been friendlier. The cashier (young man) was extremely nice and knew the answers to all our 1^st timer menu questions. My companion usually always has a lot of questions and a «special» order request.
The inside was very clean and organized. Plenty of seating area. I think there is a patio but not sure it as dark and super cold so I’ll have to check that out next one. They have Diet DP which is always a plus with me.
The food took a little longer than a usual fast food chain but it was fresh. So back to that special order. The quesadilla chicken salad has a bean mix that includes corn, for you non corn eaters they will substitute black beans in the salad instead. They made if wrong the first time. (Oh no the dreaded Corn was in the salad) but they were very accommodating and made another one the correct way that they wanted it and it was delicious. Our friendly cashier even came over to check on how the salad was and apologize for the error. He was super sweet and truly genuine.
I had the chicken quesadilla wrap with waffle fries as my side. The portion of the fries was small in my opinion. But they were crisper and more brown than that other food chain that serves waffle fries. I liked these more, just wanted a few more in my order. The wrap was good and toasted to a bit of a crisp just enough for a good crunch. There was a little spice to it and I don’t normally do spice but I found it to be more flavorful than hot/​spicy.
I will definitely come back, and I want to try other items. They are always mailing me coupons so that might encourage me to frequent this place.

We walk in to see every visible employee looking irritated and upset. One employee was fixing an error with a customer’s meal and was super rude for that whole interaction. Then we get the the counter and the cashier, danielle, quite obviously didn’t know how to work the register, it took like seven minutes to get our order in and redeem our coupon. The whole interaction with her she was being rude and wouldn’t give us answers to any of our questions. She all but threw the table number at us and didn’t even hand us our drinks.
We go to sit down and have to switch to four differently seemingly clean tables because they were extremely sticky. We looked around then and realized the whole place was not very clean at all. The mop bucket was sitting in the middle of the floor and most of the tables were sticky. The bus boy who brought us our food was very nice, at least. Him and sodas were the only things that were pleasant during this trip.
When we looked at the food the rolls were hard as rocks and everything else tasted old and gross. The chicken was burnt and the sides looked like they were just scooped onto the plate with no concern about the presentation. We picked at the food long enough to taste everything and then left. We didn’t even bother getting a refund because we’d rather lose the money than deal with the terrible employees.
We will never return here.

Eh, menu is weird and I think this place is a bit overrated. Left pretty disappointed and wished I would have gone somewhere else. There are much better selections in the area.

I go here all the time and I have never had a bad experience. I always go through the drive-​thru, so I actually have never seen the inside of the place. The chicken breast is always delicious, packed with protein and gains. Love the sauces too. Great place to eat after spending time at 24 Hour Fitness across the street.

I don’t expect much service from fast food restaurants, but the employees at this location just don’t care. I won’t order online or drive through anymore, just at the counter. The food is actually very good for the price but the extras like sauces and drinks are usually forgotten so I’d rather get them myself.

Food was good but has potential be much better. chicken very good mashed potatoes good. Green beans served at room temperature. Should knock $ 0.10 off and not serve me a rock as a roll.
Place seems to be pretty clean.
Service is lacking. Cashier’s attention split between headphones and me. Got two things wrong on order.
Entire time I was there loud beeping over some speaker every 10 seconds. Nobody was able to tell me what it was or was able to stop it my entire visit. First cashier did not even know everybody could here it, she thought it was in her headphones .
This place has some great potential for some good food that’s relatively healthy. But they either are lacking in management or have some odd management philosophy. I think this place would be much more popular if they would get their act together.

After a day of Christmas shopping at nearby Nebraska Furniture Mart, my wife & I desired a restaurant venue that contained a clean environment, good food, friendly customer service with a smile. These were our basic expectations that we anticipated Pollo Tropical’s new location within The Colony would have. Contrary to many of the prior reviews, we had a good experience.
First off, the employees allowed myself & wife to peruse the menu for a few minutes without rushing, and made a few suggestions with regard to the specials + side orders. After paying $ 18 and change for two entrees that included two sides (we didn’t get fountain drinks or alcohol), the entrees were served hot & fresh within 10 – 12 minutes after being seated. While Pollo Tropical’s model isn’t necessarily fast food nor a traditional sit down, an employee brought two trays out to serve us at our table, even without a numbered order.
No issues with the entrée’s freshness or quantity size. The chicken platter, along with sides of bread, pulled pork, rice w/​vegetables, black beans, along with three oven roasted chicken wings, proved to be sufficient enough where you didn’t feel stuffed and bloated. The venue’s interior was clean and without complaint, while the employees made you feel generally welcome. The drive-​thru seemed to be the one aspect of this Pollo Tropical that was unusually busy.
All the while, I would try this location again.

The wings are among the best I have had. The chicken is great. The Mojo pork is great. Not impressed with the beef dish, and the rolls always seem stale at every location I have been to not just this one. All the sides rock as well

POOR customer service. Fire the person who does the training. My family and I went and waited forever and the poor guy who was helping at us, got yelled at by I am assuming the manager (real professional right there), because he accidentally messed up the at payment method. Good grief! The kid was nice unlike any of the other staff. Would not recommend for service. Sad because food is good. Hope training and the people get better. Won’t go back because of that staff or «manager». What a joke.

I didn’t like it. I didn’t like the flavor of the chicken at all… I won’t go back.

The food is great, when they aren’t out of it. Every time I have been here they are our of at least one thing I try to order. I drive from 15 minutes away! Will definitely not be back again.

Shocked at how good the food is here, especially for a fast-​food joint. My parents have been in love with the place since opening, so I had to verify if it was worth the hype. At a franchise-​level, I can understand why this place has blown up with locations everywhere. At a store-​level, there could be some improvements.
The food itself was perfect. We ordered 4 — Quarter chicken with 2 sides combos (BOGO coupon if you signup on the mailing list). We had the following sides:
— Caribbean corn soufflé: my favorite
— Balsamic tomatoes: close tie for 1^st place in my heart
— Mac and cheese: don’t get your hopes up
— Waffle fries: good
— Green beans: thin and stringy, good!
— Chicken!!! Juicy, tender, marinade so good!
— Dude, and all the sauces laid out self-​service include garlic cilantro ranch, curry sauce, and onions.
Very happy about the food.
But, when it comes to the cleanliness, this place was in shambles in the 1+ hour that we were there. Plastic utensils and napkins on the floors, the tables hadn’t been bussed for who knows how long. We stood outside and counted the tables with plates at 9PM on a slow Halloween night, and at least 7 tables still needed cleaning and there was only 1 table with guests.
Overall, I’m a big, big fan. Now I’m off to check what their shares are selling for.

Well that kinda sucks that everyone had such bad experiences because my food was on point! I got I thinks combo meal with wings and pulled pork. The «wings» were more so chicken legs, wings, and a breast. All slow roasted and soo good. I really enjoyed everything about it and to me, it’s as authentic as fast food from the Caribbean can get. The plantains were perfect as was the corn soufflé. The fruit drink was too sweet for my own tasting but others may like it. I loved everything about pollo tropical and will be back soon!

Sorry, no picture. I returned my food before I could take a photo. Ordered a Caesar salad. There was a hairlike substance minced in my lettuce and dressing. The manager on duty justified it as something from the bag when they opened it. That’s still not ok. You don’t prepare food to pass something being ok, if found.
The service from the cashier was awesome though. My husband and son enjoyed their beans and rice. The yuca and sauces were also good.

It’s been 16 days since the opening, which is more than enough time to get the kinks out. Went through the drive thru which was the worst mistake I made. There was only 2 cars in front of me and it took me 30 minutes to go through it. I was able to turn off the car and sit there. Plus side: the chicken was good but they forgot to give me the sauce I ordered, which would have probably made it better.

Got the bowl, it was 75% rice, 1% meat. 24% beans. Just not good. I see no reason to come back.

Worst one I’ve ever been too. Please yourself a favor and do not come here. I ordered the boneless chicken platter and tried to pass off a burnt piece of chicken to me. Not to mention forgot the order of fries I had ordered. Tried calling and just got a busy phone line and the customer service line is worse.

Granted this was the first day they opened. Not knowing that, I went with a coworker. It was around 12pm and there were several people there. Not full, but close. There were more employees in there really than customers. My friend orders then I order. 2 seconds apart. Both of us picked the same thing. My friends food came right out. 5 to 7 minutes tops. Mine never did. Finally I went up to the counter and asked about mine showing them my receipt. They had no idea where my food was or even acted as if they cared.
The food (when I finally got it) was OK. Not great but this place is getting a one star more for the fact that when I told them I was on my lunch break and my friend had finished her meal they didn’t care. Even went as far as to make a joke about how American lunch hours should be longer.
I will go to another Pollo Tropical because I have eaten there before (not this location) but I will not eat at this new one again and I will tell everyone that will listen how bad the service is.

Saw this place was open today. Based off reviews on other locations I learned the thing to try was the 8 piece wings with rice & beans and corn soufflé with guava BBQ dipping sauce. So that’s what I ordered. Only part where I was stumped was with the choices of rice. They have white, brown and yellow with veggies. I went with the yellow. Everything was delicious. Wings were nicely charred. They gave me more than enough dipping sauce. Corn soufflé and rice & beans were wonderful. We will definitely be back.
