Located right across the street from the Telluride Gondola, we arrived right at 6pm for our dinner reservation, had our coats checked, and were quickly seated – right next to the kitchen. Argh! This was our third time trying to eat here, and without reservations the prior two visits, we gladly accepted the table. As with most of the good restaurants in Telluride, reservations are a must unless you dont mind waiting at the bar for over an hour. Personally, the altitude was killing me even after three days of acclimated so I was not about to drink anything except for good old Colorado H2O. Our server initially seemed nice and interested, but we quickly realized she was in rush mode. Either overworked, burnt out, or both. Allreds service this is not. The menu changes daily and was printed with the date. After being served cold(seriously?) house made french bread with sea salt, we started with the lobster corn dogs with a remoulade. Not a bad appetizer, a bit on the oily side and needing more lobster and shrimp. Either way a fun novelty that should be tried at least once. Next, we tried and LOVED the Chopped Salad: avocado, tomato, local greens, smoked salmon, nuts, fruits, egg, corn, cous cous and a buttermilk dressing. This was one of my favorite salads of all time. It had it all: flavor, texture, scents, and just tasted fantastic. Our last appetizer was the Volcano Roll. It was made with avocado, red crab, miso sauce, and scallions. It was good and I would order it again. Oddly we were only given two sets of chop sticks and soy/miso dipping plate. Nobody asked us if we needed more. For the main meal, I ordered the Surf & Turf and my wife ordered the Seafood Stew. Both were $ 49.00EACH. The Surf & Turf cane with a slightly undercooked Colorado petite filet, two lobster tails, wild mushrooms, brussels sprouts, and mashed potatoes. The server did not know were the beef was from other than«from Colorado» but it was top quality and really delicious and matched well with the fresh lobster tails. The seafood stew was equally delicious with two lobster tails, tender scallops, prawns, salmon, cappellini, tomato saffron broth, and braised fennel. For dessert we split crème brûlée ehich was just ok. We had seen other Unilocalers rave about the beignets, but it was not on the Dessert menu. When we asked about it we were told the frier was broken. Overall three star service matched with five star food. I would definitely come here again, not sit next to the busy and loud kitchen, and ask for a different server.

Great ambiance. The fire place was a great touch. I visited during the first week of February, which was freezing outside. The drinks were delicious. Service was hit and miss, but I liked our waiter at the table. Must try the lobster corn dogs. Their sushi items were pretty standard, nothing outstanding.

I’m kicking myself because I forgot my phone so NOPICTURES of this excellent meal :( We began with two Cosmos(which were strong), the Hiramasa volcano roll, and the Tuna Tartare. The Hiramasa was excellent; a bit of spiciness, fresh crunch of cucumber, delicate crab = awesome. I also really liked the tartare, although I didn’t care for the chips it was served with. Just dive on in and eat the raw fish! The chunks of mango and avocado added an interesting texture and sweet flavor that mingled well with the fish. For dinner I wasn’t feeling like eating meat so I went with the Kabocha squash with lentils, tofu, and broccoli, while my mom began with a Caesar salad and had the surf and turf for dinner. The Caesar was delicious, and they brought a side of the anchovies so we could try them because I was feeling brave ;) They were tasty! Not too salty, not oily at all, but a great, fresh, oceany flavor. I was very surprised. The veggie squash plate was the perfect balance of veggies and tofu that I was looking for. The surf and turf was to my mother’s liking but it’s quite a bit of food after having had appetizers! Even so we couldn’t resist dessert, and we were bold and went with something we’d never had before: a Chess Tart. Served with Bourbon whipped cream and strawberry compote, it was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. I was extremely surprised I liked it so much, given it’s pretty much just sugar, butter, and cornmeal, but the combo of the tart with the whipped cream and the compote was to die for. Highly recommend this dessert. In the end one of the best meals I’ve had and our waiter was on top of everything so we didn’t have to wait long if we needed something or wanted to flag him down. However, be aware that they only honor happy hour in the bar NOT in the dining room.

Awesome!!! No brainer. Happy hour. Too bad you can’t get in. You’ll see it sells out in 10 minutes. All tables taken. I promise top 5 restaurants in town. We stay a month every year.

A delicious dinner. Their caesar salad is wonderful, as is the beet salad. The veggie entrée when we visited was Ramen, and it was very tasty. Others in our group had salmon served with sweet potatoes and greens — yum. Their blueberry pie dessert is a mini pie and is one of my favorite desserts. Service is always top notch, and don’t skip their housemade bread. We were a large party, so ate downstairs in the wine cellar. It was quiet and nice to have a semi private space for our big group.

It’s hard to beat the location of the Cosmopolitan– jump off the gondola from Mountain Village and you’re essentially at their front door. I can honestly say this was one of the best meals that we’ve had– and we’ve been to plenty of nice places. Service was incredible, food was delicious, and the bread… yum! You could do what we did and walk almost every street in Telluride looking for a great restaurant, eventually deciding that the first place was your best bet. Or, you could skip all that and just start and end here. You won’t be disappointed.

My family and I went to Cosmo one of the first nights of our trip and we loved it so much that we just had to go back with our friends. We all got something different and everything was AMAZING… again! The food is wonderful, the staff is very friendly, and the atmosphere is lovely! We are very impressed with this restaurant and look forward to coming back to Telluride and going to Cosmo!

We visit Telluride a few times per year and our dinner at Cosmopolitan has been the best and most memorable meal we have eaten in town. The calamari appetizer was tasty but not exceptional. My husband and I both ordered the flat iron steak with whipped potatoes, brocollini, and a red wine glaze and it was excellent. This steak far exceeded the much more expensive filet mignon we had at the New Sheridan and was among the better steaks I have eaten. The potatoes were light and flavorful. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted very good. The fresh bread before the meal was delicious and the dessert was very good, as well. We ordered the blueberry pie but ended up with the strawberry rhubarb version instead. It was very good but I really wanted the blueberry version. We did not mention the mistake but it was a bit disappointing. The service was very good. We will definitely be back. Wish we would have had time for their happy hour with sushi deals. Next time!

Surf and turf was unbelievable. It was served with some completely amazing mushrooms that had been harvested locally the same day. The black Manhattan cocktail puts most other whiskey cocktails to shame. And the boneless pork ribs and kim chee were a wonderful way to start. The service was every bit as good as you would hope for at a high end restaurant.

We went here for HH and while the bar is in a great location(next to the gondola), the staff is a little less than impressive. It felt a bit stuffy. The sushi we had was very good and fresh, and the cocktails were also very good. They had a nice wine list and the dinner menu looked quite delicious. If you’re looking for a nice place to grab sushi and a cocktail I would say this place is a strong option. I would recommend getting there right at 5pm for a seat for HH as it’s extremely busy. Enjoy the cosmos

Great place. Happy hour is 4:30−6pm. No matter where you sit the natural light is lovely. There is a small bar where you can enjoy a perfectly made cosmopolitan martini or you can dine there as well. This place is located right across from the gondola and the view is both beautiful and relaxing. We had the Pan Roasted Florida Grouper with lemon, asparagus, risotto with tomato basil buerre fondue $ 32 and the Hiramasa Volcano sushi(with avocado, wasabi tobiko, sweet soy and topped with basil) $ 20. Both were excellent. The staff were prompt and helpful when needed for insight of wine pairings. I certainly recommend the freshly made donuts and coffee for desert… seriously delicious and melt in your mouth! Last time I had a pastry that good was in New Orleans. FYI. Make a reservation.

Cosmopolitan has been a staple high-end restaurant located right next to the gondola station in town for years, and it has consistently provided excellent service and deliciously rich meals every time my family has come here since I was young. A few weeks ago when I was in town with my family for a ski trip, we dined at Cosmo’s and had a wonderful meal. It was challenging to get a reservation in the main dining room, but I was pushy enough with the lady on the phone a few days before that I somehow scored a prime table inside. I was a little hesitant to book Cosmo’s as I was told that there would be another party seated at our table promptly after we left and I certainly did not want us to feel rushed; however, our server did an excellent job of ensuring prompt service and presentation of each course but never making things feel forced or rushed. We began with several cocktails before choosing a bottle of smooth red wine. I had a perfectly mixed Moscow Mule and then after dinner I enjoyed a nice warm Keoki Coffee before the chilly gondola ride back to Mountain Village. I also would like to rave about the Shrimp and Calamari Appetizer in addition to the Shrimp Sashimi that we got to start… both were excellent! For the main course, I got the BBQ Salmon. This is my second time ordering this fish entrée because the salmon is cooked to perfection and the whole dish just really comes together nicely. My dad got the Walleye and my mom got the Spareribs and Bay Scallops. They both were very complimentary of their main courses as well. For dessert, we got the Blueberry Pie… this was the only letdown of the evening, as while this pie was still very good, the slice of Blueberry Pie that they used to serve several summers ago was way better… please bring back the old version of the Blueberry Pie :) Also, I have had the Beignets many times and those are sinful… definitely try them!

Happy hour is good: 5−6p half-price sushi & $ 5 cosmos. The cosmos are delicious… & be careful, ladies– strong! The drink is so well made that you want another & another… & the alcohol may hit you later. So you have been warned! The Cosmo was so good, I had to cut myself off which is hard to do when they are only $ 5! Sushi: most the rolls are good, not spectacular but good. If it wasn’t for the ½-off deal during happy hour, it would be way too over-priced tho. What was amazing however, was the smoked salmon sashimi. OMG, I could eat a pound of that stuff… But first I have to find a money tree. They present it in this bell jar full of the aromatic smoke that they prepare the sashimi in. The presentation alone was delicious to the foodie-eyes. & then when they lift the bell jar, your foodie-nose smells it & tells your foodie-mouth to start drooling. YUM! I would go back for the Cosmo & the sashimi… But only during happy hour bc while the rest of the menu looked delicious(they had wagyu steaks!) the prices are … $$$ yikes!

What a wonderful meal! Two of us arrived at dinner time without a reservation(gasp!) during the Telluride Film Festival and although the tables in the main restaurant were all full, the friendly hostess seated us in the lobby area with other diners at small-ish tables. Our service was great… and our food was even better. Amazing bread was brought to the table… totally addicting salt crusted bread with a choice of whipped butter or olive oil. The menu was a mixture of salads, raw seafood and many entrees and specials. There’s a full bar and a wonderful wine list. I had the halibut over lobster risotto with grilled asparagus(one of the specials) and my friend had the BBQ Chilean Salmon with spinach, bacon, crispy sweet potatoes & sweet corn broth. Everything about both of our dinners was absolutely perfect. My risotto had the perfect toothiness, there were lots of chunks of sweet lobster meat, and the halibut was caught-that-day-fresh. The house-made desserts were just as good as the entrees. My friend had a sinlge serving size berry pie and I had peach crumble with raspberries and homemade vanilla ice cream. Both were lick-your-plate delicious. A perfect ending to a perfect meal!

Awesome happy hour! My sweetheart took me here on a Saturday. We sat at the bar and it was happy hour so we took advantage of the specials. $ 7 house wine was great(ordered a white which was some sort of dry blend). Rolls were just$ 5 and so delish. Salmon roll and a volcano hamachi roll. Yum. Yum. YUM!!! Enjoyed the atmosphere and friendliness of the bartender. Beautiful view and gorgeous décor
