The New Post Coffee Shop is the new name of the Nude Pole Coffee Shop which was — of course — a strip club. The Pole has been converted into a Post, and the strippers… I don’t know where they’ve gone, but if you find out, please let me know, because I miss them, and they didn’t leave a forwarding Strip Club address. Now bear in mind, I know everyone says this food was poor. And I think it’s super sweet that some of my good friends didn’t declare this publicly until after it closed. They were, of course, so friendly. But for their drink selection alone(and how cheap the drinks were), I have to give them a 5. And how bizarre is it, that they sold drinks from Ireland, unavailable in the USA, when Ireland does not have much at all to do with Mexico — other than the national soccer teams playing in Green… and the fact that in my private life, I’m often mixing the Irish(me) with the Mexican(not me). So to speak. I was just in this place what seems like weeks ago. It was probably more like a year, but it feels like yesterday… and I’m extremely sad to find out that it’s closed down. I was so happy that I’d found a second place in NYC that sold Irish sodas imported, my favourite«Club» which is only available on the Emerald Isle. You can get them at Park Slope Chippy(closed down) and Atlantic Chip Shop(not closed down), both owned by the same people, but they are overpriced beyond belief. Very depressing to know that this cheaper option is now no more. Why do all my fave places tend to go out of business? That’s actually why I Unilocal… to try and help prevent that from happening. What to get: Irish Club Sodas! Lemon, Orange and Rockshandy Flavour! What else: My heart is broken. Anyway, to summarize… the employees were very friendly. The sodas were incredible. It’s literally next door to my fave pizza place in Queens(which is how I stumbled upon it). I will miss it, and will refuse to believe they are gone until I see it with my own eyes. And if it’s really gone, then I hope it re-opens soon as the New Poke Coffee Shop. But to any potential new owners: please continue selling the Club Sodas that New Post sold! If you do, then I will keep coming in here every time I visit Sunnyside Pizza next door — which is very often! And for the record… get the Garlic Bread Pizza at Sunnyside.

For the better part of 50 years, New Post Coffee Shop graced this corner of 40th and Queens Blvd, serving up diner classics and presumably lots of morning coffee. It was a convenient spot to grab food before jumping on the rain or perhaps a quick meal coming off of it. It was iconic, the kind of diner that would attract people like myself because I love places trapped in time. Old school wins, but not in this case. The food was just bad on all levels. Two things I love almost more than anything, breakfast and Mexican cuisine, was somehow butchered to a new level here. I first came here thinking there would be hashbrowns due to their menu cover( ) but false advertising got me good. Throw in a few instances of dry omelettes, overcooked sausages, and really poorly cooked burgers and that nearly sums up my experiences. But it gets worse. I should probably know better than to order Mexican food from a diner, but when the staff recommends this over some of their other classic staples, I’m going to follow through on the recommendation. Huevos Rancheros never looked so unsexy( ) and my pork tacos( ) were a fixture in mediocrity. I was hoping a chorizo torta( ) would do the trick, but the bread was soggy and the oil from the chorizo soaked through the entire bag /wrapper. Messy to say the least. But the guys working the joint were always friendly and that was always appreciated. 50 years gone, the new era begins with rumblings that this will become an Italian restaurant. Let’s hope they fare better than this.

We just moved to Sunnyside so I decided to order some takeout while painting the new apartment. I chose New Post only because I’d walked passed it from the 7 train and it looks like a cute, classic dining spot. I placed the order using Seamless. I got the Mexican hamburger with fries and my husband got the grilled chicken sandwich. The food arrived so quickly! The fries are perfect… just crispy enough, just thick enough. The burger was done right. The Mexican burger is a regular burger with sliced jalapeños. Great! Delicious. I am looking forward to visiting New Post for a hearty breakfast!

Walking by, we decided to stop in and try it out for breakfast. Food wasn’t bad and the portions were large. The coffee though, it just didn’t taste right, we didn’t have the experience that other people have written, but the waitress did say it was a fresh pot. Came here, tried it and wasn’t bad, but probably won’t be coming back.

This is probably my favorite breakfast spot. I’ve been coming here for about 7 – 8 years and I wouldn’t change a thing about it. Prices are cheap, plenty of selection, quality food, great coffee. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area!

Came here with my Dad, not by choice. Food is meh. And the coffee… DONOTORDERCOFFEE. It gave me a really, really bad stomachache. I don’t know if it’s because I’m sensitive, but my stomach was very upset with me for drinking it. It was definitely NOTFRESH and tasted pretty stale. I ordered the Mediterranean omelette which was OK. But the coffee? Never again! Most likely not returning. I’d rather save myself the stomachache and go to Pete’s Grill across the street!

+ Breakfast at 7PM at NIGHT.(Great for partiers who sleep all day) + Omelette with ham, onions, green peppers, french toast, and french fries(supplement for potatoes) for $ 7. I couldn’t stop to rest in between bites because it tasted AMAZING. + Tasted home cooked I came from Texas where all we had were Denny’s and IHOP hence the reason why New Post Coffee Shop is rated a 5.

One of the few remaining old standard coffee shop/diners in New York. Best neighborhood spot for breakfast, solid choice for burgers and sandwiches, good soup, and I’m a big fan of their Mexican entrees for dinner. Pasta’s decent when I’m in the mood.

This is one of my favorite places for breakfast in Sunnyside. It’s clean, good food, friendly people… what more could you ask for?

I wanted to fall in love with New Post Coffee shop the first time I passed by it. I wanted to embrace the effortless modesty and in turn, find comfort in unassumptions. I wanted to be its lone heartbroken patron at sunrise, searching for solace in its ugly wallpaper and intermittent ramblings of the 7 train overhead. I wanted to sit on a stool at the counter and share inaudible moments with the waitress as she refills my coffee. But then I remembered my life is not a noir-film and this place kind of sucks. There’s no reason to go here with Foxy’s or Pete’s close by.

If you have working tastebuds, then this is not the place for you. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and was disgusted to find the middle was filled with raw pancake batter. The coffee was not fresh. I had to dump in about half a pound of sugar to cover the stale taste. The waitress thought it was more important to stack paper cups behind the counter instead of paying attention to the customers. I guess she doesn’t like taking my money because it took her forever to give me the check. They received a C grade from the dept of health, but they stuck the paper in a corner of their window where it won’t be noticed and put a chalkboard in front of it so it can’t be seen unless you really look for it. The owner must be a trust fund baby or something, because I don’t know how this place manages to stay in business.

Overpriced. Came in as city worker in uniform and ordered breakfast, menu stated all of the above served with coffee/tea/juice, when requested juice worker tried to say it didnt come with the meal that the menu clearly said it did. When pointed out on the menu his mistake he became condescending and would not correct it. Food was bad, potatoes half raw, sausages old and withered. Dismal attitude, dont bother.

I come here for breakfast with my bf a lot. Decent food, but this isn’t a posh place with fine food and great atmosphere. It’s just cheap & basic. There are several mexican breakfast options available, in addition to the standard american diner fare. They do have an annoying tendency to allow people to come in & try to sell you bootlegged DVDs. Not a fan of that, since I’d rather not be harassed by people selling me stuff during my meal.

Decent place for a quick bite. It’s usually empty, so it can feel a bit lonely, but the food is good and the prices are affordable.

Bad bad bad Im sorry i cant describe how bad it just was horrible. I need to learn. ordering real Puebla/Oxaca style Mexican food made by real Mexican’s in a dinner is a bad idea. I ordered the chicken flautas and they just totally hammered it. They sprinkled all of this white cheese on top and the chicken was hardly seasoned. But wait-they also messed up the American dinner food I ordered as well. I thought well I’ll order a meatloaf dish. Bad idea. The gravy for the meatloaf tasted like it was going bad. Sorry I’m never coming here again.

Traditional diner vibe with delicious Mexican food, in addition to a lot of the regular items you’d see on a diner menu. I had the enchiladas verde and the portion was both huge and delicious. It’s not cheap — my enchiladas were around $ 13, but it was worth it.

Someone was shot here, so if you’re in dire need of street cred maybe you can pretend that it’s dangerous. That said, this is just a solid old school diner slinging out basics and good Mexican breakfast on the cheapy cheaps. No frills, low bills baby.

I guess I’ve missed the hipster scene here. I’ve only come for dinner, and the place is usually pretty deserted. A solid, old school, greasy spoon diner, New Post is friendly, a little dank, and has pretty good food. There are better diners around, but I like the old school feel of this one. Chicken Souvlaki and Turkery Burgers are solid choices. Side salads are pretty weak. The feta is bad. I noticed the other day they had liquados on the menu and ordered one of those thinking it would be pretty average. I mean, liquados at a diner? It was fantastic! Best liquado I’ve had since Mexico and better than the ones at the sadly now departed Kike’s and the 52nd Street Coffee Shop. That’s a reason alone to go here.

On New Year’s day, I woke up starving. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a thing in the house to eat, so I ordered my breakfast from New Post. I ordered the juevos con jamon Mexican breakfast, which comes with rice and beans, something everyone should try cause it’s such a hearty type of meal! Anyway, the order arrived quickly and I ate like a fiend. It was really delicious and not very expensive at all. I can’t say what it’s like to dine at the shop, but I’m definitely going to give it a shot sometime soon.
