I only ordered a garden salad here but it was fresh & delicious. Great service as well.

We wandered over here from the La Quinta next door starving after our five hour drive from Austin. Server was nice but the place was way understaffed as they received room service orders, sit-down restaurant orders and orders from outside. So really he did the best he could. But the food was overpriced and really tasted like a TV dinner reheated. Shrimp was off the truck, still partially frozen, rice was hard and in a stew of sticky sauce. Drinks were overpriced and watery. Never again.

While looking for a place for a late lunch, we wandered to the end of the island & decided on the Great American Grill located in the Hilton Garden Inn. We haven’t been there since it opened a while ago. Surprised at the number of customers @ 4 pm, but pleased. Nice menu — variety of items not usually seen on the Island. Found out the lunch specials lasted until 6 pm, thus the number of early patrons. My husband had one of the specials — seafood platter, 2 huge pieces of fish nicely breaded, fresh french fries, a couple of shrimp &2 hush puppies — $ 5.95, very good, I opted for 2 appetizers, a cup of gumbo(surprisingly new orleans style & delicious) & a platter of taquitos — 5 small corn tortillas with beef, avocado slice, charro beans, homemade salsa & mexican rice. Enough for a dinner & really, really tasty! Only disappointment was the rice, more spanish than Mexican & very bland. Service really good until time for check, but maybe they were hoping we would move to the bar. Also very good Bloody Mary’s & Sam Adams on tap for $ 3, 11 to 6pm. Left just after music started. 2 winter texans & a sound machine, nice play list, but really old & slow for the first 2 songs, but since more people coming in as we left they must have a following. Would definitely go back for the food. Oh, and they had a «free appetizer» bar — not much, but kinda fun, pretzels, popcorn, chunk cheese & chips & salsa.

I’m staying in the Hilton so I decided to get dinner here. The food was average. My son stated the Chicken Pasta had a very bland taste. The only highlight was the elderly man singing on the piano.

We’re staying at the Hilton, so obviously we had to eat dinner here. That, and the other restaurants we had on our list to try were all closed due to it being Christmas Eve. We were less impressed with having to listen to the really dreary music being sang by a random guy the. whole. time. As a matter of fact, we’ve been here two days and there has yet to be someone in that bar singing their hearts out when we’d much prefer a soundtrack or something. Ambiance, meh. Food, okay. They have a huge variety of American food, etc– as the name suggests. I ordered a vegetarian black bean burger and it was excellent! They were served with equally excellent french fries and Cattleman’s BBQ sauce. My fave. I ate every bite and the veggie burger actually had flavor. The husband ordered lasagna and was less excited about his meal because of the size. He had a salad before his meal(included), roasted veggies, lasagna, and a breadstick. The lasagna was the smallest cut I’ve seen in ages, however. Kind of a bummer. Otherwise, prices were fine and all tasted well. Two meals, no drink = $ 22ish bucks before tip. Not bad at all. Sure, we’d eat here again, especially if we can’t find anything else on this holiday weekend. Hah.

Excellent and extensive menu that covers all kinds of food. Enjoyed the daily buffets.
