I had an egg sandwich(not sure if it was part of the menu as I don’t see it online and was there for a special event) and it was AWESOME. Great english muffin, perfectly melted cheese and perfectly cooked egg. What more could you want? Beer? They have that and lots of it! The inside is cute but we were outside which was great that weekend!

Pretty decent, filling pub food. I came here with some friends on a Friday night and they weren’t too busy, so we were able to snag a table without too much trouble. The inside is fairly narrow with a bar on one side and tables on the other. We decided to forego drinks as we wanted to try Aeronaut Brewery down the street, and just ordered dinner instead. I ordered the house burger(½ lb Angus beef, cheddar, bacon sriracha aioli, greens on brioche with fries, $ 13) and my partner ordered the beer-braised beef short rib sandwich(with caramelized onions, spicy goat cheese on a French roll with house salt and vinegar chips, $ 14). The burger was cooked quite well but a little on the smaller side for the price. I really enjoyed the bacon sriracha aioli, which was creamy and savory but ans spicy at all. The French fries were thinly sliced and nicely fried. I liked the burger better than the short rib sandwich, which was not as tender and flavorful as I had hoped. The meat also had a slight flavor that tasted almost gamey. The chips were well made but slightly underseasoned and didn’t have as much flavor as the fries. Overall, a decent pub with quite good food, but a little expensive for the amount and quality of food. Didn’t try their beers so I can’t comment on the drink selection.

The fish and chips were delicious and filling :) Overall the food is reasonably priced. I went last Saturday for dinner with a couple of girls and we got catcalled by some dudes in their 50s when we entered. It also took a while for the server to come over. The place is tiny and cramped so it’s not good for groups. Despite these cons, the food was good enough to convince me to come back again.

I love this place. Excellent live music most nights, wide variety of styles(try Friday night), cheap drink, unpretentious atmosphere, crowded and tiny and everyone in high spirits. One of the better night-places in all Boston, I opine. Open as late as it gets around here(~1 am).

I’ve only been here around dinner time for a couple beers, but I love the tiny size and coziness of the place. I never had problems getting a seat at the bar. Service was acceptable. I can’t speak to the food but I enjoy the atmosphere. They have 1 tv above the bar if you are looking to catch a game. All in all, a great stop if your are in Union!

Popped in here before a show at Thunder Road one night and we cant’ wait to go back for a more complete experience. We only had a drink during this visit, but the food looked and smelled amazing coming from the tiniest kitchen I have ever seen. The drinks were well made as well. The staff was friendly, vibe was great. They apparently have live music on the weekends. We will be back.

I’d been here to drink several times, and am not sure in my blissful stupors that I had ever tried the cuisine. However, in a moment of recently perceived desperation to find somewhere in the neighborhood to grab a Saturday night bite, I came here. Thinking the food was going to be okay-ish, I was assuming my dining experience would be riding on sheer atmosphere. However, I could not have been more incorrect; everything from the wings to the service was great. Boyfriend stuck with pub grub and got an amazing burger, and I was a little more adventurous and went for the jerk steak. It was fabulous. I will never underestimate bar kitchens again. Well… not this one, anyway.

This review is only for the bar on the weekend, when it’s so crowded in there you can barely stand it. It’s no longer warm out so the outdoor patio that everyone raves about is closed. The place itself is strangely shaped, it’s so tiny and cramped when there’s a band playing– we only stuck around because we didn’t know any better after paying cover. I will try again when the weather gets better because I am curious about their food and the option of drinking outside. but for the winter, I’m steering clear.

Bartender had has knees in your face and got right in your face when ordering. Music was also very loud. Upon entering the doorman asked for a cover, when asked how much was told I think it’s 10 They need to get their facts straight, waitress said there was no cover. It was quiet on this evening so I guess they needed the money. The lobster bisque was amazing as was the filet mignonette as I called this minuscule of a steak $ 32.00 can’t complain coming from a high end steakhouse like Bull McCabes

I panned this place a couple of years ago. Having loved it they went through a tough patch with the chef. He’s since moved on and it’s better than ever. Good drinks, good food and the best ambiance in Somerville. Always a fun group of people working and drinking and good music too.

Ate here for the first time. Super small and non-descript.(Those are bonuses, by the way.) Good drink selection and fantastic food… and a parking lot? In Sommerville? Woah. I had the house burger — juicy and delicious. The fries were a crispy delight. My girlfriend had the Kielbasa, which had crispy skin and soft, juicy, flavorful innards. Yum. Ordered the bread pudding and was told they were out of the whisky caramel sauce. Decided to venture forth anyway. So worth it. Huge hunk of dense bread pudding with crispy edges and great flavor. The whipped cream was likely from a can, but it did not taketh away from the dish. Definitely going back.

This place is great! I met one of the co-owners, Brian, and he was very nice and introduced himself. I got the steak tips and they were awesome. My girlfriend got the veggie burger which was very good as well. I’ll definitely be coming back again

We first came in to the bar for a few drinks after our flights from DC but we stayed to have some food and tried the House and True Grit burgers while drinking Backlash beers. So we can say: Good beers, good burger and good service for a perfect«just landed» evening !

The first time I went here, I saw the size of the kitchen and wondered how they cooked with that. Then I actually tried the food, and it was fantastic. The best burger. Fries were crispy! I’m not much of a drinker, but I have friends who love it here for beer. It’s a great hole in the wall spot and service is friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable and portions are great. There’s a dart board and a bookshelf with a weird, unorganized selection you can laugh over. Plus, I live across the street!

Although the burger menu is small, it is DELICIOUS! Good beer selection, good atmosphere, nice service. Somewhat hole in the wall feel — if that’s what your looking for. Will be back!

Small and narrow, straight forward bar. Nice and simple décor, homey feel. Great for live music, gets packed Great bartender, delicious bar food. Awesome tap selection. Parking, street and meters, always sucks. Whatever. *Update* they do have a side lot after 6:30 during the week and all day on the weekends. but shh don’t tell anyone. I need a spot haha. Easy to get to in Union Sq.

Barely moved to the Somerville area a month ago and Bull McCabes is one of my go to places for a quick drink after work or a quick meal! The burgers are sooo good!(And I am not one to order a burger). Their chilli and pumpkin bread is awesome as well! All the bartenders are friendly and attentive. Never had to wait more than 5 mins for a drink or more than 15 mins for my food! I do appreciate that they bring out everyone’s food at the same time! The ambiance is swell as well! It’s a cute Irish pub! I’ve brought many people to he bar and they love it as well! Def. going to keep coming back!

This place rocks!!! Was visiting the area for a day and when I asked the locals where I could go on a Sunday night to listen to se good love music they guided me here! I am so happy I followed their advise. We got to the restaurant at 730 and the band didn’t start till 10:00 pm we actually waited that long and was not disappointed. The band Dub Apocalypse was PHENOMENAL. I had such a blast! Definitely the best way to end my trip to MA. Cannot wait to visit again!
