This place rocks. I always see this sweet barista, Clare, on my way to work or class at the UW. She is such a sweetheart and put up with my initial indecision about coffee or a chai latte. Sad to hear there is no more chai nor. But the positives outweigh those few recent omissions to the menu. Love this place mega hella.

I was drawn in by the $ 0.95 macrons, what I didn’t know was that you had to by a 16 oz. drink to have the cheep macrons. That wasn’t a problem though since the drinks are relatively cheep, with a 16 oz. being around $ 4.00. I got the Macha Latte and found it very tasty. With the latte, I also got two macrons; a salt and caramel one and a mango/peach one. The selection was sparce, but the texture and flavor of the macrons made up for it.

The latest in a long line of walk-up coffee windows at this location: Appassionato, Maui Wowi(why), Sweet Iron, that place that was here after Sweet Iron, and now…(drumroll)… T’Latte. I had wondered about the name when they put up the ‘coming soon’ sign, and now that I’ve seen the menu, I guess it means ‘tea and lattes’. It is primarily a tea shop. Yes, they do serve those liquid candy teas with juices and syrups and powders and tapioca balls, but they also have the kind of tea made by pouring hot water onto tea leaves(a.k.a. actual tea). Earl Grey, breakfast tea, oolong, genmaicha — the usual suspects are all here. But hot tea is not a walking-around beverage for someone as clumsy as me. I’ve had the habit of occasionally stopping by Appassionato/Maui-Wowi/Sweet-Iron/other-place* to get a quick shot of espresso occasionally on the way to work, so that’s what I got here today. They brew Caffe Vita. My drink was OK; pleasant enough, but not as good as the same beans pulled at Vita’s own locations. On par with Bulldog, a couple of blocks down, the competing walk-up window. Also on the menu: smoothies, frozen drinks, Italian sodas, and I think they had some baked goods. —– * What was that place called?! It’s killing me. EDIT: Solarium. That’s what it was. Thanks, Shannon C.
