I’m going to miss this place! Alan and crew had an amazing selection of wind-up toys from the mundane to the bizarre. Bears, vampires, sushi rolls, you name it. Last time I stopped by the store had been cleaned out and the roll-down gate was locked. Sad news indeed.

Fun stuff here. Unique items(I just got a Soviet-era children’s train set!) and knowledgeable proprietor make for a great experience.

This store is sooo awesome. Fun toys for kids and grown-ups, wind-up toys and novelties, vintage tin toys and the latest fun. Lovely proprietor knows the collectible scoop!

This is a cute little store in Pike Market. As the name implies there is lots of little wind up toys to try out. The selection is wide and varied on wind up toys and they have a few other toys besides wind ups as well. Probably the thing I liked best about this place was all of the vintage style wind up toys. Ones that were elaborate and made of metal. These are new but it was fun and refreshing to see since most traditional style toy shops do not even carry these kinds of wind up toys often.

I did a long distance order by phone, ordering various things as stocking stuffers for the holidays in 2012. The order was filled quickly, and I had it at my door in New York within a week. Fun place!

Super cute toy store! Tucked inside the Pike street Marketplace, this is a super awesome find! A mix of old school classic toys, fun cheap old toys, and new ones! There are ones you can wind up and play with and there are lots of cheap purchases here. It’s such a delightful find among souvenir shops with branded junk. My favorite(and probably why they have it in the front): Bacon vs. Tofu! Awesome! How to find this place? It’s located inside and behind DeLaurenti Specialty Food & Wine which is visible from 1st.

This remains one of my favorite places in Pike Street Marketplace. I could buy all of the wind-ups if we were rich and lived in a mansion. I would even give them their own bedroom! Can you imagine –all of them walking, hopping, spinning, somersaulting, zooming? But since we still are in the 99% I settled on a few wind ups to give away as gifts. (a hopping bunny, a walking golf ball and a bomb ball with a wick) The proprietor was very nice. When I asked where there was a wi fi place he directed me to the very nearby Starbucks(duh…)

Enter the strange world where animals, monsters, food and humans punch at each other, hop, flip and spin… it’s the world of wind-up toys and you’ll find it at the Great Wind-Up. Wind-up toys make cute, small, inexpensive souvenirs or you can splurge on the larger tin robot wind-up toys. They also have a deep selection of interesting novelty breath mints(cupcake, bacon) and bandages. I picked up some wind-up donuts this time($ 5) and spied quite a few Easter appropriate wind-up toys(bunnies, chicks) that would make a great edition to anyone’s Easter basket. Personally I like the monster and food wind-up toys the best.

This is one of my favorite spots to look at stuff. If you are into toys. this is a must. I’m not into toys that much, but I can appreciate a specialty store and the dedication people put into it. I did feel like a kid again looking at all the stuff.

This place specializes in one thing — the wind-up toy. They have a substantial collection of those and other goofy things — particularly catapults(chickens, ninjas, pigs) and action figures(Jesus, Blackbeard, Oscar Wilde). They also have the bacon adhesive bandages I’ve had my eye on. The setting leaves a little to be desired. They definitely spend all their money on their merchandise and not on gussying up the store or making displays.

Best selection of wind-ups in Seattle. Lots of great stuff and with new items arriving all the time. Ask to see the dirty toys, it’s extra disturbing. Although, the most disturbing thing was the walking raccoon wind-up. It’s evil face and tiny clutching claws will haunt my dreams.

I have a slightly disturbing weakness for wind-up toys. Wind-up walking sushi sit on my desk and, well, it’s not quite an obsession yet, but this toy store could well be my downfall. Plastic wind-up walking brains for cyring out loud! Wind-up skulls and golf balls and french fries and pigs and skiing alligators and nuns. Then there are the old fashioned wind-up tin robots and spaceships and lots and lots of other tin toys. There are a few other related types of toys and things here, but they get nary a glance from me once I find a good wind-up to play with. This is the reason my daughter thinks I’m a freak who will never grow up. This is a gem of a toy store.
