I drove all the way down here from Shoreline to meet a friend here to find them closed. Be aware that their hours of operation are not accurate. It’s unclear why they promote being open at 2:15 when they aren’t open till 5pm.

I found this place by accident. Trying to find somewhere to get a drink while I figured out how to get back downtown. Love the ambience, lots of wood. The bartender came right away and I tried a few samples of IPAs to decide which one I wanted. He gave a recommendations on food at my request and took my order. After that I never saw him again. Someone took my empty beer glass without asking if I wanted another. The food was great, had the blu burger but substituted cheddar instead of blu. The fries were perfect, I had to force myself to stop eating. The negatives: I had to ask a different server if I could get another beer, during this same period of time the 2 gentlemen sitting to my left were asked and served in a timely matter. The guy next to me also asked the bartender if I could get another beer. The man next to me was asked if he was ready to cash out, I had to call out to get my check. Seems the men in this place were given preferential treatment, while me a single, older lady(50s) was ignored. The food and ambience was great. The service was good for men, but awful for a lone woman.

Ugh… food Luke warm, service not good. Waited forever for drink. Just looks like they aren’t ready for business. Only three people on staff… to bad. I wanted to like it!!!

The food is great and they have plenty of amazing drinks. I would definitely suggest mac n’ cheese with pork belly. It’s amazing! I like to try many dishes at places I like, but I always get the mac here. Why mess with a good thing?

Pretty much the worst service I’ve ever had in Seattle. I was hosting a group of 7. I made a reservation the morning of but the evening staff didn’t receive it. I had to grab our own menus, repeatably ask for water, and my vegetarian’s dinner was«burnt by the cook.» Since it was the last veggie burger in stock, they just brought out a salad without even asking if he wanted something different. I honestly could go on, but I won’t. I hope they make some changes.

Great happy hour menu for both food and drinks. Bartenders were attentive and helpful even when busy. Nice selection of local beers as well. Nice place among lots of take-away places around UW

If you’re going to a show at The Neptune, you have to eat here. If you’re wanting a $ 5 – 8 draft before the show, this is your place. If you want a divebar with dart boards, loud music, and carvings in the table, this place is NOT for you. If you want a menu that has gruyère cheese pork belly Mac ‘n Cheese, awesome burgers, amazing fries, and a killer Fish & Chips, this is your place. The Lounge is in «basement» of The Deca hotel, but it still has street access. As you come in from the street the bar greets you center stage and the booths and tables wrap around the bar and extend into a small event room and a larger«governors room» event room. The service was decent and did slow as the bar filled up, but was never bad by any means. You may have 3 – 5 guys roaming the area of 60 – 75 people which means you won’t have constant attention, but I never much cared for overly attentive waiters anyway! As I said it is in the bottom of a hotel and you’ll also have clientele that reflect those goers as well. As such there is a push button code on the bathroom doors because they’re next to the elevators. But really, don’t let that detract you from eating here. Half the people that were in here we saw right across the street at The Neptune watching the concert with us, as it is literally across the street! Great food, good service, reasonable prices, and a stones throw from our concert? Yes please!!! If we’re ever see another show at the Neptune again, I guarantee we’ll be back here!

My only regret I have with this place is that wish I came here more often! The vibe of this place is so extremely chill & relaxed with the dim lighting. It feels more downtown & makes me forget that I’m surrounded by icky college bars/restaurants. I’ve been here a couple times, and I’ve tried the fish & chips, the pork belly, the mac & cheese, & the blue cheese bacon burger. ALL left my tummy extremely happy & wanting it to burst off the seams of my clothes because the portions are awesome. But my favorite is the burger which of course is always cooked perfectly medium rare with a side of their yummy aioli. Oh, and the staff is so friendly. Easily the best service I get when going out to the ave(because service is so hard to come by on the ave) the guys are nice to talk to, but not over bearing. & I love that they always recognize me & my boyfriend! So sweet. But honestly though, stop wasting your time and bring your hungry butts over here!

This place was interesting. It was in the basement-ish area of my hotel. They didn’t have a crazy variety of beers but solid enough. The bartender was friendly and kept the drinks flowing. The bar is nice but nothing that would make me want to go back unless I was staying at the Deca.

This place is a typical hotel lounge restaurant. The lighting is low and very relaxed atmosphere. We went here before seeing a movie at Sundance and the food was average. Being vegetarian I was hoping for more options but the two I had sounded pretty good(portabella burger or mac and cheese). I had the mac and cheese which I think was made with a blend of cheeses including beechers… the only bummer was the taste… my food wasn’t great. In fact, it was pretty bland for a mac and cheese. Probably won’t go here again since there are so many more amazing food options nearby on the Ave.

Decent food. Good prices. They had happy hour prices for the entire month of January so that was nice. Service was very good.

Summary: Decent, but the service killed it. Food: All happy hour items as they have happy hour prices on food for all of January. The pork was delicious. Not a large portion, but reasonable and it was very good. The Chicken Caesar Salad was just as you’d expect and quite large. The fries were acceptable, although not spectacular. The grilled cheese and soup was alright, again, nothing to write home about. The water is cucumber, mint, lime. Consensus was the drinks were pretty tasty(though didn’t imbibe myself). Service: Easily dropped them 1 star. We had a group of 10 people. Started out fine with a single round of drinks and food. Then the servers disappeared. Everyone had empty drinks, waters, and dirty plates everywhere. We would have ordered a second round if anyone had come back in the hour we were there chilling. We got to the point of needing our check and started actively watching for a waiter, not just ours, but any. Took about 10 minutes before we saw one. Value: Happy hour was a good deal. Regular prices are a bit high but not awful. Location: Better than you’d expect for being hidden in the bottom of the hotel. Nice vibe with a good mix of table sizes and a large comfy chair area.

Terrrrrrrible service. The servers had a chip on their shoulder and didn’t really give a hoot that we were there to patron their place of work. They claim to have Seasonal Drink Specials on their menu but when I asked about them the bartender laughed at me and said they never have any. We asked if the flourless chocolate cake was gluten free and he didn’t know and didn’t ask to check for us. Never going back.

I would have given the place 4 stars but as for sitting at the bar, it was just too dark too see much of anything. I needed to use my phone flashlight to read the menu. I like to at least see what I am eating when I eat. The food was good, service at the bar was fine.

Meh. Below average food served in small portions with pretty mediocre service. You’d think a Hotel Lounge would be a bit more classed up.

I work in the University District & it’s great having The District Lounge readily available to grab a drink after work with my colleagues. I love a semi-quiet atmosphere that is centrally located(being directly across from the Neptune, it is very well situated in the bottom of the Hotel Deca). My favorite is always paying $ 4 – 5 for a glass of beer on tap. I live on Queen Anne, and I’m more likely to pay $ 5 – 6; minuscule, but it matters! The staff is always just attentive enough. They don’t pester, nor are they hard to locate. There’s always lots of tourists and characters(old people) in the District Lounge because it’s the establishment in the bottom of their hotel. But hey, jovial tourists spending money in my neighborhood and striking up conversation is what the pub atmosphere is all about! It’s very chill and I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a cheap quality(local) beer on tap and foods. The bathrooms are nice, too. Code required, which they may shout at you as you’re walking toward it, and you don’t know what is going on, so you get to the door, realize you need a code, and return to the guy and ask him to remind you what the numbers are for the bathroom code. Just remember the first time if an employee spouts the code at you. I’m pretty sure it’s 1492(sailed the ocean blue har har).

I have been here a few times, but Friday was interesting. A friend of mine and I had a couple of beers and an appetizer each, before attending a show at the Neptune. I don’t remember the show because I passed out. A guy friend who was with us said that he thought we had been drugged. Both my girl friend and I lost gross motor skills, threw up, had amnesia, and flu-like symptoms all day yesterday. While at the district lounge, we sat at the bar and the only person who had access to our beverages was the bartender. And he seemed kinda sketchy. Beware ladies. I don’t think I’ll be going back there.

I came here for a friend’s birthday and we had a great time! For appetizers we shared the pork belly and the salmon cakes. Pork belly was pretty good as were the salmon cakes. I had the New York Strip with fries. Everyone agreed the fries were delicious. Very crispy and salty. Yum. The steak was a generous portion and tasty. They cooked medium rare just right. I had the chocolate and vanilla gelato for dessert and tasted the flourless chocolate cake. We enjoyed the live jazz they had that evening and the service was very nice. I am happy to be introduced to this place and wouldn’t hesitate to return!

If you need a big place for happy hour and has parking in the U District this is your lounge. The food isn’t bad, the servers are nice, and the drinks are a-ok. It is in the basement of the hotel so you won’t know if it’s light outside or not when you’re done.

Located in the basement of Hotel Deca, they’re a classy way to spend an evening before a show. We went for the first time right before a show at the Neptune Theater, which is RIGHT across the street. The ambiance is fabulous and there’s easy parking(for a small fee you can park all night) around the corner at the Deca lot. They have some really, really delicious appetizers. The portions aren’t generous, but they aren’t weak. We got the salmon cakes and chicken barbecue sticks. They were fantastic. We split the macaroni and cheese with pork belly and it was AWESOME. Cheesy and saucy and really, really flavorful — and it came out hot with a pork flavor that can’t be beat. There weren’t many people there as we were getting served, and the waitstaff took the time to be really chatty and friendly as we sat at the bar and savored a manhattan, and a martini. The martini came with THREE olives. That’s quality. The drinks were great. The food was great. The underground vibe was great. The service was friendly and professional. If they were a little closer to where I live, I would be there every night. I can’t wait to go back and try the weekday happy hour menu. For the single people! This didn’t look like a place to go to meet people. On the contrary, it seemed more like a couple’s destination.
