I’ve been here like 3 times randomly over the past year or two and every time there is some cool music like jazz, world music, fusion and I’ve never paid a cover. I think they may be open only when there is a party or event scheduled. I met the owner, David when he hosted a Restaurant Opportunities Center(ROC) United bartending course and seemed very nice. I love the fact he was gracious enough to let ROC United use his space to teach Seattle restaurant workers bartending and resume skills free of charge. It’s one of the best on the Ave for sure.

I’ve been to this place before and its a great bar. My friends called and spoke to someone about having a goodbye party for me here before I headed off to grad school. The man they spoke to said there was no need to book anything and to just show up. On Friday, August 7th at 8pm, about 15 of us showed up to LUCID only to find it CLOSED. We called several times to see if someone might be inside but no one answered. How is a popular bar on the ave closed on a friday night? We had to move my party to the RAM-not my favorite place. I’m really upset that the last time I would see my friends and family had to be at a restaurant I don’t even frequent. This was suppose to be a celebration and it became so chaotic moving everyone at the very last minute.

Cannot say enough positive things about this establishment, owner and what they stand for! The drinks are PHENOMENAL. You’ve never tasted anything like it before, guaranteed. My favorite drinks are the Mumbai, which is a chai-infused creation that is unlike anything you’ve ever had in your glass! The second favorite drink is the Seattle Freeze, which is a complete revamp of the«Long Island Iced Tea». It’s flavorful, well-balanced, and the perfect level of sweet! David is an extremely engaging and dynamic personality. He is easy to connect with and you can see his passion for life and what he does reflected in every batch of cocktails that he creates. I recommend trying his wonderful craft whenever you can!

Showed up on a Friday night based on the awesome reviews. Hours show until 2am. Drove out at 11:15pm. Doors shut, no lights on, nobody home. Nothing on their answering machine, no note on the door. Nothing on their website indicates they wouldn’t be open every Thursday — Saturday for live music. Our date night — that someone flew into town for — ended up disappointing. Very lame.

Even though we came to early(7:30) and were the only ones there, we really enjoyed it though. We came too early. Brandon made terrific drinks and had good conversation with us. Will definitely be going back and we will be sure to come at a later time when more people are there.

Small bar that has a stage for bands. The bartenders who work here are friendly and the drinks they make are strong. They also host Game of Thrones viewing parties every Sunday throughout the season. Good people, good spot, good drinks, solid.

I have been going to Lucid on and off since 2009 – 2010, the when it opened and it has always been a wonderful place to go. I liked the music, atmosphere and the general ambiance. I moved away but whenever I came back I always returned to Lucid. However, I recently returned to Seattle and I went back to Lucid. I noticed they had a new bartender, he was a little off but I ignored it. Now, I do not drink alcohol, the reason being a medical one, so I always order a non-alcohol drink. The ginger beer is $ 4.00 and I leave a $ 1 a a tip. Other times I get a cranberry, orange juice mix, and I have always been charged $ 3.00, even by the owner. The new bartender usually charged me the same and I always left a $ 1 as a tip, that is more than 20%. One night, after work, I head to Lucid and order the same drink, but this time the bartender charges me $ 5. When I asked why he says its because I don’t tip him. Now, this is illegal. first of all giving a tip is not mandatory when you go to an establishment, it is a social custom, which is generally 20%. Well, the bartender gets upset when I questioned him on the increase in price and when I mentioned it was illegal he kicks me out of the club. I don’t think that the actions of the bartender reflect the views of the owner, but when anyone owns an establishment the choices that your employees make is reflective of your business.

nice quaint venue for some live music and a couple of drinks. we came here on a whim with a couple of friends to check out the live band The Standard. For the size — it was a little disappointing to have to pay $ 12 cover but if it’s to support local bands I’m okay with that. If you don’t have cash and dont’ want to find an ATM they can add the cover charge to your tab. Drinks come out a little on the slow side but it’s relatively understandable if there are about 20 people there all ordering cocktails… the cocktail list is rather complex so I can understand why it takes time per drink. When the kitchen is closed they only serve a few items. The black eyed pea hummus was legit, how hummus should taste, just a touch of grit, yet smooth, a little bit of citrus and clean tasting. The small cheese plate was a little«blah» as there are three choices of cheeses but they all look the same and you can’t really tell which what is — just gotta eat it and decide if you don’t like it. The gumbo with rice was legit. a little on the earthy side but over all great flavors. I would have liked a little more heat(spice) in it but over all delicious. At $ 8 a plate of food and average of $ 8 a drink… combined with the $ 12 cover it’s not the cheapest place to stop by… but it beats comin in early, because my friends wanted to meet us up mid way through the show and cover charged jumped up to $ 25/head! insane! Overall a cool cute place. I’d come back when i’m in the mood for some live music and a cocktail.

Lucid is an unexpectedly adult venue for being on the Ave. They host complicated drinks, live music and art. It takes a higher consciousness to truly appreciate the inner workings of this bar and venue. Great music even when it’s not Jazz. I love the soulful, R&B, hip hop jams. David, the owner, makes it a point to showcase up-and-coming artists. He’s always coming up with new concoctions of drinks, his creativity reaching to include his own line of vodka– DICUL. If you are in the know, then you know that Lucid is really an underground vessel for the arts. If you aren’t in the know, you’ll probably scoff and dismiss this place for lacking pom-poms of ikea lighting.

I just held a private event here. We rented out the space for 5 hours. David was amazing to work with. He was professional and extremely accommodating. There is a stage, a projector, several comfy couches, tall and short tables and a bar. We were allowed to bring our own food, though they do have their own kitchen as well. However, Lucid is known to for their delicious, handcrafted drinks. I recommend this place for many things; using it as an event space has just been added to the list!

My apologies Lucid for not posting an update much sooner. The manager and I spoke over the phone since I ended up having an issue with a credit card transaction being over-charged. After we spoke he was sincerely disappointed with some of the difficult parts of our group’s experience and he ended up refunding the credit card transaction. That was a big chunk of the tab, not including the free drinks we already got because of the Unilocal discount. He clarified that the person who handled our bill transaction that night was not the manager. He thanked me for our business and the feedback. Upstanding way to handle a service recovery. I will definitely go back!

I’ve only been to Lucid three times, but every time is a great experience, so I just have to give some more praises. Last time I came was as part of an afterparty and I got to hang out at the bar and talk to David, the owner, since it wasn’t crowded at all. He is the nicest man! He told us about his space, some events that have gone on in the past and some plans for the future. He genuinely invited us in and welcomed us back. I feel like it’s rare to find places where the people who frequent a place feel at home, but I definitely get that vibe every time I come here. Try the gumbo, it’s bomb. Also, the drinks are A+ and reasonably priced. Try the Dicul vodka; he makes it himself! David takes pride in this lounge and in his craft and it really, really shows!

Lucid is a small venue on the ave. great live music. Sometimes a cover. Here on a Saturday night and there is a great live band from Hampton Virginia called Toney Rocks. The cover is $ 5. Happy hour lasts until 8:30, which is a plus but the food prices are the same as any time. The place is super chill and a cool spot to hang with friends and listen to good blues and jazz music. I will definitely be returning to enjoy the cool ambience of Lucid. Wish the place has better food options but the bartender was pretty good. They have a solid cocktail menu and there are plenty of drinks to try on the menu. But I am really here for the music and that definitely delivers. So if you are looking for a good place to listen to solid music then look no further than this joint. New to Seattle and have really enjoyed my Saturday night.

I love it here! Lucid has some of the best drinks in Seattle, and the music and art that is there is always amazing. They truly out do themselves though with some of the best classic drinks. But they also have some fun new ones, I want to try their Dicul Vodka(their own personal house liquor) and Root Beer drink. They always have events going on, either live artists or the up coming event the Blind Café. Which are all amazing. I want to go more, everyone there is amazing!

The Gumbo — best I’ve ever had. Bartenders — top notch service & easy going Dicul liquors — the shops own brand lots of yummy flavors and crafty cocktails await you, plus they have a drink with eggwhites, one of my favorite things :) More to come, just HAD to share these three things asap. Plus, they have STIFF Blossom on tap — a special vodka herbal tea infusion during the Seattle True Independent Film Festival happening through May 10. It’s so refreshing!

Lucid is a nice little bar that’s hidden away from most of the Ave. Unlike other bars in the area that cater towards the typical college student party crowd, Lucid offers a calmer ambiance in a Jazz setting, though other music is played as well. The bartenders know what they’re doing. They also have a popular blood mary cocktail that a lot of people liked. Other cocktails other are strong but refreshing. Great place to bring a few friends, but you may need to make a private reservation for the space to host large parties.

I really enjoy the layout and ambiance of this hidden gem!!! I had the pleasure of meeting the owner who also runs the establishment and bartends. He is clearly passionate about what he does because not only runs the place, he also promotes the local music scene and community. This place is a not what you would expect for a bar in the U-District because it is classier and gives you the feel of being in a place that reminds me of Fremont or Ballard. The venue is intimate but not too small and is perfect when they host a musician. I particularly came when a jazz guitarist performed and the sound of the room was perfect! BONUS: The owner makes & sells his deliciously spicy margarita mix. He also crafts a yummy vodka that can be purchased at local outlets and is currently being served up at local bars in Seattle. 2ndBONUS: If you love Game of Thrones, they have cocktails that are named after the characters and host events on Sundays in relation to the show. They also put on cigar events and many others. This place is a must. With the great service, tasty bites to nibble on, delicious cocktails, and warm atmosphere… why not? What are you waiting for?

I came here on a date and had a good time. There is live music which is fun and the band even had a guy who tap danced which was a lot of fun and definitely unexpected. Plus, the band was obviously having a lot of fun and would sometimes even get up and play while out in the crowd. Everyone in the audience seemed to be having a good time and a lot of people would hear the music and stop by just to sit and listen for a bit. I got a drink which was pretty tasty, but unfortunately the service was really slow. It took forever before someone came and took our drink orders, and even longer before someone brought us more water and our check. Overall, a fun place to go to on a weekend, but you might want to order at the bar rather than wait for a server.

was expecting it to be cozy for a jazzy type lounge. Drinks were not good, water down. Hard to find, need better signage to locate
